  • Finally a video dedicated to some of the new snakes that DM Exotics has received over the last several weeks. The odd species we have at the moment is worth a video in and of itself. We are highlighting the following snakes including some of the feeding tricks we have used to get them established in captivity:
    -Lycodon subcinctus
    -Lycodon effraenis
    -Oligodon fasciolatus
    -Oligodon purpurascens
    -Oligodon signatus
    -Psammodynastes pulverulentus
    -Boiga dendrophila melanota
    -Ptyas fusca
    -Ptyas carinata

    Beautiful variety of snakes seldom seen or familiar with here in the USA !!! Some of the patterns on some of these snakes could easily be mistaken for a Copperhead if someone wasn't familiar with the differences. Great to see more people breeding and working with the Mangroves here in the USA :)

      I often forget to do that. You have to understand that the majority of the conversations that I have regarding reptiles are with my overseas partners and we all use scientific names. It has to do with proper ID and all of the documents contain scientific names as well because common names do not work on legal documents. I will try to keep it in mind as we continue.

    Hey man, just checked out ur video on specialty feeding for snakes and i was wondering if it was applicable to a snake like the florida king. I just got the guy as my first ever pet ( he's a hatchling) and he's just fed on his first pinky mouse no issue but ur video on providing a wide range of food for your snake got me thinking. Is it advisable for me to keep switching up different foods maybe when he's grown up a little for better health?

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  5 років тому +1

      I notice a big difference in the snakes that I am able to apply a varied diet to. Even just switching a diet from mice to rats or vice-versa can make differences in tone and condition. However, the decision to do so is really up to you. That video was more directed at snakes that have high metabolisms and are active, visual hunters....in nature those are the species that naturally will consume the widest range of food.
