      Thanks! The belt was definitely a better idea than I usually come up with. My favorite part.

    It's all in the jeans, it's a beautiful looking guitar Danny! Have you ever considered working with epoxy on one of your instrument builds? I admire your skills and craftsmanship. Have a blessed New Year!

    • @dannylewisguitars
      @dannylewisguitars  9 місяців тому +4

      I have! Technically I used epoxy on this build to adhere the belt binding. It was just a 5 minute epoxy.
      But I thought about doing a flood coat on top of the jeans in this guitar but I ended up just leaving it because I wanted it to feel soft. And also, epoxy is expensive.

    • @ronnieglenn
      @ronnieglenn 9 місяців тому +1

      Yes, epoxy is expensive. A think a thick coat of Elmer's glue and a spray can or two of clear coat would fit my budget. I'm looking forward to Twenty24 and watching you build more git-fiddles in the future.

    Very nice work! I expected to see you cover a cheap Tele copy, but the fact that you made your own guitar raises this to another level. Please invest in a better push-stick for your circular saw though! I like the idea of the leather belt around the outside of the guitar, both to cover the join and provide a bit of grip when the guitar's on your knee.

    • @dannylewisguitars

      How come this didn't get a coat of Epoxy over the denim and then sand and buff to high gloss?
      Your builds are fun to watch 👍 , just finished watching the pallet guitar, and the minimalist headstock really took me by surprise, I have to say 🙃 After watching that attention to detail for 20 minutes 😎 It's a beautiful guitar, more like a pro build for a junior player. You could have said it's walnut, I'd believe it.

    May I ask how much it usually cost for the hardware and where do you procure it. I always end up around $300 cdn when I price the parts. For that price, I feel more relunctant to play around and try my first build. Maybe there is a cheaper way to get parts.

    • @dannylewisguitars
      @dannylewisguitars  9 місяців тому +2

      I use completely reclaimed lumber so that takes a big chunk off the price. I get old headboards or other furniture for free and find some pretty decent hardwoods that way.
      I usually just use amazon for hardware. I have spent as little as $30 on hardware but, when I am building something just for fun and for me, I usually spend around $90-150 on electronics, cheap tuners, fretwire etc.

    This is really cool but is it going to get super dirty / sweaty if you gig with it? Wondering if there's any final finish step that might help with that.
    The belt binding is a really fun touch, by the way.

    • @dannylewisguitars
      @dannylewisguitars  9 місяців тому +3

      I think the most durable way to do it would be to coat it in epoxy but I wanted it to still feel soft like jeans.
      Some people never wash their jeans. So maybe it will be fine!
