Does anyone else "hear" Donna's voice when making a quilt?
Ironing - You always want to iron your fabrics nice and flat before you cut. That way your cuts will be nice and exact.
Penciling - Just draw a line from corner to corner. You can use any marking tool but I just use a nice sharp pencil.
Cutting - Just line up your fabric on one of the lines on your cutting mat. Make sure everything is nice and straight and use your rotary cutter.
Sewing - I'm gonna take this to the sewing machine... Always use a quarter-inch seam allowance... Leave them right on the machine... this makes sure your rows don't get mixed up.
Finger pressing - Press the seams - you can use your fingernail or just the tip of your finger - towards the dark. Now, when we sew these rows together, these seams will "nest" and it's really easy to match up your seams "exact."
Dog Ears - This might seem like an extra step but it helps reduce the bulk. Just trim off the dog ears. I just use my scissors and it goes really, really fast. Or, you can take your pieces over to your cutting mat and use your rotary cutter.
Ironing - The blocks are all made and I'm gonna take these right over to the ironing board. I always want to iron my blocks nice and flat. That's gonna help my quilt lay nice and flat.
Putting the top together - Now comes the fun part. All the blocks are laid out... I might change the blocks around... Now, let's get these all stitched up.
Quilting - I've got the top all put together and on the machine. Now it's time to pick a thread.
Admiring the quilt - I really love the way this turned out. We've got some vibrant colors here... and I love the way this... It was a lot of fun to make and went really, really fast.
It's impossible to be stressed about making a quilt when Donna's gentle, encouraging voice is running around in your head!
Thank you, Donna, Matt, James, and all the Jordan Fabrics team, from the bottom of my heart, for not only being instrumental in keeping a cherished American tradition alive and well but, also for bringing us into the 21st century in ways that no one else is able to do!🥰

Hi Donna and team. I just wanted to say that I'm an intermediate quilter and although I watch a lot of tutorials on UA-cam, I really like the tips and ideas that I get from your channel. You have a very confident and calming voice which makes it easy to listen and learn. Also, you have the best tips of any quilting channel. I use the finger pressing all the time! I am still working on my 1/4" seams, sometimes it's hit or miss, but I am always in awe when your patchwork comes out so neatly! I also appreciate that you will show us what to do when the sewing is a little bit off and truly done is better than perfect! I have also used your "floating" points techniques several times when working with flying geese blocks. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us!

I love the way you break a quilt pattern down. As someone who is very new to quilting, I am intimidated by looking at some of the patterns. But you take the pattern and talk us through each step, making me feel "I CAN do that"!
I would love if you showed sewing the blocks together once in a while (even if you showed it sped up!). I want to see how you handle all the fabric as the quilt grows. I just have a regular sewing machine I use on the dining room table and often get overwhelmed with the bulk of the fabric.

Thank you. Trudy's question dispelled my one concern about the Queen quilt I have started cutting as my machine is an old one (my mother's Elna - pre WW2!). It's an average harp I think. But your instructions just put in print what Donna teaches in her every tutorial. I didn't realize that until you said it. I know I can do that. And the Elna has a feed-dog cover and a special foot for freehand quilting. This just gave me the confidence to tackle the Queen! I'm going to do a table runner to experiment on freehand quilting!

Another way of looking at larger quilts is to break them down by quadrant’s. Then sew top rt., and bottom rt., together. Left top, and bottom together. Then sew it straight up the center. Most of us are able to use a bed to lay the two half’s on top of each other, then sew them together. I hope that helps. Happy sewing!

What amazes me as I watch Donna is how quilting ever really caught took off.. In the beginning, all the stitching was by hand with no special templates to make sure your blocks were the right size. No rotary cutters. Maybe no irons. Just amazing. Donna makes it look easy but it's still a lot of work and skill

Good afternoon Donna and "all" the Jordan family, This is a beautiful quilt Donna and broken into bite size pieces that new as well older sewer's can relate to and give that can do feeling. If this was quilted in more customised, quilting in white in those large spaces, i think that would look lovely and bright and fresh as well, but able to go with a sparse room of white (you know those designer bedrooms that are 25ft square that we all have, ha ha ha) or in any other room, it would just fill it with brightness. Now my brain has just thought of it in a variegated thread, mmmmhhhh, lovely. i wonder if you have ever quilted something and then not been so happy with your choice of thread afterwards and if so, what did you do about it? I know that you have done this for many, many years but there is always a time that perhaps we made the wrong choice and i really would like to know how to correct it or do we just leave it as is and there will always be someone else that it would suit.
Thank you Donna for another pick me up, you are working better than the steroids and antibiotics. Thank you James for another well filmed video, i know that i really appreciate the time and trouble that you go to, to get the right shots for us. Crafty hugs to all at Jordan fabrics, from Norah, Glenochil, Scotland

You make your tutorials look so doable, love them. Wow, French General is my favorite line of fabric

I love how the pattern went together with those big blocks. The piecing looked more intricate than it actually was, and I love the blank space that you can show off your quilting. Thanks again Donna and team for sharing another wonderful pattern.

Love the scrappy look of your quilt, and the log cabin quilt with the French General fabric is gorgeous.

My eye is always drawn to design that incorporates a lot of "negative space" between the patterns of color. This is a lovely pattern, and I see it as a variation on a basic Irish Chain Quilt. Your instruction and the video quality are, as ALWAYS, excellent!

Hello, Dona. Thank you for your video, I really love watching you do these amazing things. 😍My sister is expecting a baby and I'm looking forward to it. 🥰I really want to make a set for the baby in such a technique. I would be very grateful if you could tell me some kind of children's scheme. Thanks again🫶

I like the one you have done in the colored prints rather than the one shown on pattern package. If I were to just see the pattern package I wouldn't have purchased it. Just goes to show how different colors and patterns affect our choices.
