Some come from the media and Hollywood as they exaggerate what being a prepper is all about. While other lies are created and repeated within the prepper community. He didn't say not to have a bug out bag, but that it isn't the biggest thing you should have. And he is right. Bc very very rarely will you need to bug out. In fires or floods, sure. So grab your bag, and go, but needing to run into the woods and hide and build a secret bug out shelter? No. The bigger probability for survival is you will need to shelter in place. Reason? Nuclear disaster or small nuclear warfare is most likely the biggest probability now for disatster. If that happens, the LAST thing you want to do is go outside for a few weeks to a months time. Another is supply chain failures. When that happens, your basement full of supplies will be better than your bug out bag

@@THEBROKEWOODSMAN that's a little grim lol. But when hurricane Katrina hit, people got raped, robbed, stabbed, murdered, beaten and all kinds of diseases. A bug out bag would ensure that in a situation like that, I can get out of dodge and DECIDE if I want to utilize a FEMA camp, vs being FORCED to go to one. I'll definitely, 100%, 15year Prepper and survivalist experience, mother of 2, raised by a military medic, keep my bug out bag. Mostly from common sense and self preservation. But also because it's not hard to understand that "SHTF" doesn't necessarily mean nukes or zombies lol. It can mean fire, flood etc

Did guns and ammo help in the Texas freeze? the California wildfires? the Pacific North West heatwave? or the Tri-State flooding? His point is that you are VASTLY more likely to face a natural disaster than the fantasy of roving gangs of marauders. Guns and Ammo should be virtually the last thing on the list in an emergency situation.
Thanks Thomas, exactly my point. You look at all the disasters in the last 10 years and water, food, first aid, ect. all would of served people far better then ammo or guns.

I am going to disagree about a Bug out Bag.
If you only have 10 minutes to get out of your house because of wildfire or manmade issue like a chemical leak.
Would you not be better off having a bag ready to go.
With clothes,some food water, personal hygiene items meds and cash
Copies of important paperwork.
House titles, car titles, banking and credit card information written down with phone numbers, insurance with numbers.
Names of and numbers for your families doctors.
Copies of prescriptions.
A usb stick with photos of the stuff in your house for insurance purposes.
In a wild fire or hurricane situation you might not be returning for months]
I have yet to find a bag that will hold ALL of that and that I could carry.

@@shawnr771 I would like to add an extra set of car keys somewhere OTHER THAN inside your house. A couple of years ago, I had to leave my apartment in a hurry due to a fire in the apartment above mine. I was asleep when it happened so ALL I could think to grab was my 2 cats in their cat carriers. I grabbed my phone but completely forgot about my car keys. Luckily, I was able to go back and retrieve them even though I could not stay in my apartment for several days.

In what scenario in the last 1000 years you needed one of these items? Gold maybe, but a big out bag? Not an emergency bag for a emergency shelter, but to bug out in the wilderness. Why the hell should you do this and what is better after three or five days?
In what scenario in the last 100 years you needed guns and ammo - more than for hunting purposes? Earthquake, tsunami, hurricane, nuclear power plant explosion, flooding, forest fire, economical decline, ...? No. You never needed a bug out bag or ammo.

As a country who is prone to calamities such as storm surge, landslide, or typhoon. Bug out bag is a neccessary item that shouldn't be forgotten. Many of my fellowmen has suffered immensly when they were not able to prepare such item. So yeah.

Like anything you should have a variety of items for any SHTF event. Don't be scared, be prepared!
I don’t know… gold and silver is good to own when you consider that you can’t even earn a pension or afford to big a house these days… and guns and ammos is key as that’s a right and freedom that’s going to be taken away. People should grab what they can. While they can.
A more practical bug out bag would to identify 10 items you would want if you had to flee your home due to a flood, wildfire, tornado. Consider the recent Colorado wildfires that completely and utterly destroyed entire neighborhoods. Or, the CA fires that burned down entire towns.
Some ideas: important documents, laptop, cell phone, flashlight, lighter, first aid kit, medications, multitool, spare glasses, canteen, solar recharge battery and a firearm. Having some items in your vehicle would be helpful in everyday life. Again, first aid kit, roadside kit with road flares, recharge accessories, poncho, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, flashlight, canteen, lighter, fire starter, ammunition. You see you are starting to augment some of the initial items. Many of these items can be packed and ready.
So we should just sit and twiddle our thumbs waiting on the government to come help us.... got it

You absolutely SHOULD be stocking gold and silver. Economic collapse is just as real and just as possible as societal collapse
Prepping is embedded in our DNA. We desire shelter food/water and security, security can be financially and protection. Prepping is the mindset that risk is inevitable and for this same reason we prepare for anything and everything that we think could happen.
Gold and silver shouldn’t be thought of as a stockpile for end times. Think of it as a savings account that the doesn’t have and counter party risk. After you have your food, water and other survival supplies then you can start saving your money in gold and silver aka “Gods money”. It’s had value for thousands of years and helped people in many disaster situations including Currency collapse. Don’t be foolish or scared be prepared!

Bitcoin and Goldbacks, Goldbacks and Bitcoin, 1 year's worth of storage food, and grow a garden. I don't know about having a 'stockpile' of guns and ammo, but you should have your edc, a decent rifle, shotgun, and a plinker or two for small game - at least one long gun per family member.

This video is literally entirely wrong. Buy silver, buy a bug out bag, not necessarily for bugging out, but so you have the things you need, definitely stock pile guns and ammo. If you don't have at least a dozen guns, and 10k rounds, you don't have enough.

Copper coins or bricks ( yes they sell some copper 1 lb bricks on Amazon believe it or not) *because* maybe a survivor has elements and knows how to melt metal and use the copper to repair burnt out motors or forge wires burnt by an EMP.
Maybe you have copper coins we could be used to pay for eggs etc (food for a week)of the same copper melting specialist who they can make wire to repair electrical elements
Bug out bag lots of reasons to leave and just as many reasons to stay put. I think it's more important to decide when to do which one.
I just don't get the gold or silver thing. I rather have the money for food, equipment, tools and training for skills that will keep me alive. As guns and ammo firearms tool for every job. Some guns work better than others for different jobs.
I tend to think a handgun is only used until you get your rifle.
Most gun owners understand the need for different tools.
As for ammo my goal is to no how to make my own and have the equipment to do so.
I'm not talking only about reloading, I'm talking about from scrap metel to bullets.

1k rounds per caliber minimum I would say is conservative. Even if it’s just a couple boxes at a time and you still shoot. Even if not for defense, I’d rather a rifle than a spear to hunt.

If i prepped 20 yr ago i would be broke. I put my money into real estate . And now work 2 hours a week max. Its all a load of crap, dont fool for it. Yeah, have a couple months. Spare food and ammo. Just chill. It will be fine.😊
I prep for things that will probably happen. A storm. A shortage. Maybe a fire. I exercise. I grow some food. I can trade some of my hobbies for other things.
A lot of people in Maui needed to bug out, some pretty quick. Unless you have a good security detail you should probably be armed.
History shows that all great civilizations have fallen. It is typically hard to say when each started to fall.
Lots of things are disrupting the economy, the climate, the health systems, the education system.
If you don't stockpile guns and ammo then the bad guys will be the only ones armed which will make it so much easier for them to come take your stuff !! However you choose to do it make sure you have a way to protect you and your family, after all besides hunting it is the number one reason why we have guns. ( P.S. I promise you the bad guys are armed)
Why would I need gold and silver after a catastrophic event? What do I plan to this for? Unless I have an electronics factory, there's not much point stockpiling something that's not going to be very helpful with food, water, security, entertainment, social - are people thinking they're going to trade with this? Most humans from modern society, at first, won't even recognize anything but actual supplies as having value - currency only crops up after other systems of debt based off of honor and community (where you just give other trusted members goods, and take what you need, and the community collecticely keeps a ledger to see who's in debt and to whom, also reinforcing social bonds), and gold and silver are only really useful for simplying transactions with people outside your community, since barter economies are a myth. Trade really is difficult to facilitate, and basically requires communities to have formed before it can effectecticely take place - you're more likely to just find people, and you put a certain amount of your goods together in one big commie pile, and survive as a group - markets really are a more complex and not really viable form of human interaction until a few more advances have been made.
Guns and ammo only increase in value. Probably the most secure investment you can make. If society dosent fail, they still increase in value.
If there is a failure in our banking system or a natural disaster, guns increase in value even more. Not only can you use them to protect yourself, they are a tremendous value as a form of barter currency.
Would you rather have a gold bar or a loaded gun, to ensure you and your families safety?

I'm here to say that yes, guns and ammo. I am not a gun enthusiast. However, when you are out and about in a major disaster, people will absolutely raid your home for resources and valuables even if you're in it. So when I prep, it's for hurricane survival and looting is a huge problem.

I hope I don't have to bug out... I could never move all my preps. I agree about the gold but a little silver will be better then not having any. But dry beans, canned goods and ammo will get you thru best.
I agree with this totally. I lost a lot of this in a boating accident then we had a fire. A streak of bad luck I guess. We are all ok if ya’ll are wondering. It was a waste of time and money down the drain. If something ever happens I guess I will have to take my chances like most and try and survive. I do like go and just look at all this stuff and know it is on the shelf at the store if needed.

Two points. The first is if the world is coming to an end what good is prepping going to do anyone, we won't be here to use any of it. Secondly, women have always had a bug out bag we call it a purse

Well first you should prioritize food and water, and then focus on guns and ammo. It's a lot easier to defend what's already yours then it is to try and take from other people. You should also invest in power tools and other essentials to keep your house in running order. Knowledge and skills will get you further than your preps, cause those preparations are only temporary, what are you gonna do when they run out?
