    Starting a Sterile Processing Technician Program later this year that bridges over to a Surgical Technician Program. So watching these videos are really informative and helpful.

      Just apply for a non certified spdt position at your local hospital, they train you and you'll get paid while you train then after you've completed 400 hrs you can take you licensen exam... save your money thiers no need to go to school for this career... super easy career

      I. the video I explain why I’m working is spd our hospital is small so when we’re really busy I do it all I scrub cases and then help wash and sterilize instruments it’s good to be well rounded in everything and don’t be nervous and be open to learning

    SPD is an easy job, that being said, people tend to overcomplicate it all the time! That is just my opinion.

      It’s not an easy job. I’m brand new to SPD and have never been in an environment like it before/never went to school for it. It’s not easy starting out and is a complicated job with many steps to each station. But once you get used to do everything then it becomes easy

    How did you learn the name of the instruments , how do remember all of them any advice?

    • @sks8269
      @sks8269 7 місяців тому +4

      Repetitiveness will help memorize instruments. You also have count sheets that should have number and names of each instrument as you put tray together. I started from scratch hands on teaching under a great manager. That helps. After you receive 400 hours you can schedule through IAHCSMM to set up exam in your area for your certification.

      I studied the basics with flash cards and pictures with details when I was in school but the other ones like specialty instruments I learned while working with them and as the previous reply repetition of using them also if you work in spd for a week or two before going into the rooms you’ll have a better chance of learning them and remembering them

    Why no test on lap instruments? Did blow out them with forced air..???...hmmmm seems like RED FLAG...but every hospital requires different 😳

    Hi! Love your videos! I work as a Phlebotomist in a hospital and have been thinking of taking a Sterile processing course and possibly changing careers. Is there a lot of heavy lifting in this career? As a phlebotomist, always bending to draw blood is starting to take a toll on my back. Not sure if this is the right career move, please let me know your opinion, Thanks!

    • @glamtech_2151
      @glamtech_2151  Рік тому +8

      Yea there is a lot of heavy lifting tetas weigh at most 25 lbs and at times we are sterilizing and wrapping about 10 ortho trays which can get pretty heavy
