- We are out for the day, driving to Nelson's Bay in a convertible with the roof down and sun in our hair. We have an adventure exploring the area and Mike risks trying a Bum Blaster.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode (as I do all of them). Scenery is so different "frae bonnie Scotland", but just as beautiful. I've been here since 1971 and have been blessed that I have travelled all over this great land. Have been back to Scotland four times and still marvel at the beauty of it. "They can take the boy out of Scotland, but they cannae take Scotland oot o the boy". Enjoy your stay and keep the newsreels coming.
Thanks George, sounds like Scotland is still in your blood. The other side of the world and such contrasting beauty at both sides.👍💕
Well done! It’s hard when you have arthritis and / or sore knees! It’s a beautiful region! So happy you are enjoying these areas!
Another great glimpse of beautiful Australia. I spend a week in Shoal Bay with my sister each year and know it’s a beautiful spot. The views from Tomaree Head are some of the best we have. So glad the weather is good for you but watch out for that sun - remember to “slip-slop-slap” …slip on a shirt, slop on sunblock, and slap on a hat 👕 🧴 🧢 😎🇦🇺
Thanks Aussie Anne, that's good advice and we are following it. Tomaree Head views just completely bowled us over.
keep up your walking when you get home. So glad you enjoyed paradise. Thanks for visiting us
We are also so glad that we visited, this was definitely one of the highlights of our entire 5 week holiday👍
Brilliant, thanks for sharing and I nearly wet my bloody self matey at the end laughing🤣🤣. Enjoy yourselves 👍❤
Cheers John, glad the ending gave you a blast🤣
Hari OM
LOL - and again with the nostalgia for me. That whole coast has become so poplated since I started visiting it 35 years back.. YAM xx
I can imagine that it was a lot more peaceful 35 years ago, but it is still stunningly beautiful and it was great having those stairs up to the top of Tomaree Head, they may not have been there back then xx
No contest the pool. Meal, views and everything in between looked awesome. Take care Gill
Thanks Gill, the pool is a regular haunt now, it's the best way to keep cool 😎
Tricia needs a wide brim hat! Sunstroke is worse than a big night on the booze! Loving your channel. Used to live in the Blue Mountains, now in The Snowy Mountains ( southern NSW). Coming to spend 3 glorious months in Scotland very soon. Can’t wait!
Thanks, she did have a wide brimmed hat but it kept blowing off so she got a cap instead. Lucky it was not yet summer. Would love to visit the Snowy Mountains one day. We are sure that you will love Scotland 👍🐾💕
Welcome to our part of the world, love your videos. Enjoy your holiday.
Thanks Kev, we sure are loving it here👍
just south of tomaree is barry park, great views without the walk.
Hello from Poland - your weather is a lot betterthan it is here! It's lovely to see so much sunshine.
Giorgeous walks especially to the top of the mountain. I hope Tricias knees were OK. Mikes Bum Blaster sequence, was brilliant bit of camera work - very funny..
Thanks to Jemma and Matthew to act as guides and hosts
Thanks Michael, it is getting hotter here every week. Tricia's knees were sore but she just gets on with it. Glad you liked the closing scene, we had a blast filming that🤣
Laughing my head off Mike. Great video and a top comic finish. 😂
Thanks Stephen, sounds like we have the same sense of humour 🤣
The sweets 🤣🤣🤣brilliant video
Oh, I would have definitely stayed by the pool.. it was lovely to see some sunshine on such a chilly wet and very windy day... to distract me from going out to rescue my pvc greenhouse that has relocated itself during the storm last night... my poor plants ! Sue
Hi Sue, oh no! I hope they are ok. Have been hearing about storm Babet back home it looks really bad.
Hahaha 😂 the end
bum busted😊
Nearly split me in two man 🤣
Love Nelson Bay, I seen a small penguin near the marina there once. You are both literally walking in our foot steps 😂, we lived in the Hunter Valley and Port Stephen’s for the past 16 years, now back in your/our back yard. Hame’l dae Mae (land of the Bings). Enjoy the rest of your Aussie holiday. Don’t drink too many TOOHEYS 😊.
Jemma said there was penguins there but we didn't see any. You must be a bit torn between Oz and Scotland, you've had the best of both worlds! Aye quite partial to a Tooheys but also found a good Irish pub with Guinness in Mooloolaba 👍
So glad that you're out in Aussie visiting your daughter and partner!!!! your first 2 videos are really wonderful, you're certainly making very good use of every minute... hilarious ending to this second video... keep on having a great time....
Thanks Diana, that's our motto here, make every minute count👍💕
Looks like your having fun, use to go up to Nelson Bay when we were kids there was nothing there,a caravan park, a shop and a couple of houses, and a mental hospital right on the headland.
Hilarious ending! You’re a good sport x
Thanks guys that was a lovely video although a bit windy at the “end “ 👍
Thanks, aye there was a big gust just as we wrapped that one up😉
Glad you're enjoying your holiday in Australia. All the best.
You truly do a wonderful job with the editing. The walk and apartment looked lovely. Glad you’re having a great time.
Many thanks, I enjoy the editing, the trick is to be bold and cut out a lot of footage leaving the highlights.
When I was a kid we spent a lot of our holidays in Shoal Bay (my mum's aunty had a holiday house there) My siblings and I explored all over the area in particular Tomaree Head in those days the locals called it Radar mtn. because the radar antenna the army had there from WW2 was still standing (this was the late 50s and early 60s) The mtn itself was riddled with gun emplacements and observation posts. It was still Army property at the time .The buildings at the bottom of the mtn were from an army base where US troops trained during the war.
There was no signs of any gun positions now that we could notice, probably some still there if you went searching but nature probably reclaimed the space. You must have some great memories of that time.👍
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot Yes the last time I went there the bushes had taken over a lot of the spots plus the government had either sealed up or removed them because they could be a hazard. Yes it was just a sleepy fishing village back then that only came alive when a big game fishing competition was on.
The US army used the beaches in the local area to train for beach landings during its WWII Pacific campaign. There used to be photos on boards in the area of the US army landing craft on beaches. The gun emplacements and observation points are still there, they are further round towards the sea inlet to the Bay.
🤩🤩🤩🤣🤣🤣🤣 love it. X
I’m always impressed by the fit people running up Tomaree. Not a bad daily exercise followed by a swim at Shoal Bay. Loving your adventures in Australia
Nice vid guys, i am clad you liked Port Stephens. Don't forget to head up to the wineries in the Hunter valley.
Thanks, we had planned to go there but unfortunately it got chopped from our itinerary due to time..... just not enough of it
Tricia really needs a broad brimmed hat and you all need sunscreen whenever you’re out in the sunshine! Gemma, please make sure she gets one, save her from heat stroke, skin cancer and dehydration. Always carry bottles of water that you can refill at the nearest tap as needed. Some beaches and picnic areas also have sunscreen, so make use of that too if you see it. There’s a hole in the Ozone layer south of Australia, which allows radiation to get through, so you need all the protection you can get.
Edit: OK, Tricia has a hat, but make sure you keep wearing it, we want you to be protected! 🥰🇦🇺🌞
Thanks Jeni we are all using factor 50 and it goes on early morning and topping up at lunch time.👍💕
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot I’m so happy to hear that! Hugs! 😜🇦🇺
Looks like a fantastic time you are having, I hope you are not worrying about us here in the stormy weather 😜
I have been keeping an eye on storm Babet back home and some areas badly flooded. We picked a good time to get away.
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot Absolutely, think things are settling down now. Hope you are having a great time there
The boat shed has the best coffee in Tea Gardens , MUM'S (down the bridge end next to to co -op) has the best fish and chips, I'm a local here😂😂, glad you're enjoying your trip to Australia
Thanks, we couldn't figure out why it was called Tea Gardens but nice wee place to visit and really enjoyed visiting 👍💕
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot I'm not 100% sure how it got its name?🤣 but my theory is,,,, that after a lot of heavy rain the river does turn to a 'Tea' colour, from all of the tannins that come out of the mangroves and other native tress further up the river, I live over the bridge in Hawk's Nest which is a much smaller town, but we have the 2 beaches, one on the bay, which is directly opposite from Nelson bay(Jimmy's beach ) and one on the surf beach (Bennett's beach) I doubt you guys had time to explore that far over because it's about a 1/2 hour walk roughly, and because you were on the ferry(which I love by they way🤣), glad you enjoyed my beautiful part of Australia, even if you missed the best parts🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
safe travels to you both😁
@@aussiebornandbred thanks that would explain the tea. You're right we didn't have time but Jimmy's beach looked beautiful from the boat on the way over 👍💕
Hi Mike & Tricia We love watching your videos & we were thrilled when we saw that you were visiting our country. Enjoy your time here. The "bum blaster" segment gave us a good laugh ! Keep up the good videos Warm regards, Graham & Vivienne
Hi both, we feel so privileged to be visiting your beautiful country and we are loving every minute here 👍💕
Tip for getting up hills faster without feeling exhausted; get a younger person to push you up the slope with about 2 Kg force in the small of your back. You'll feel like you're walking on the flat.
Another enjoyable episode. Those views are superb. 👍
Thanks both, they are right up there amongst the best views we've ever seen👍💕
Well done Tricia in getting up to the lookout area. I was puffed out watching. Your videos cheer me up!
Thanks Linda, my knees were sore but I was determined not to be left back at the apartment so I gave it a go, and surprised myself by getting to the top x
Lovely to see you both hope you're having a great time ❤
Geez Mike - crack a window open son! 💨🤭🤣
So glad you're both enjoying our little island (Australia) for a short stint. Hope you enjoy your stay, and hopefully don't melt too much - unfortunately Australia is known for the very harsh sunshine, leading to high rates of skin cancer, so please be careful Tricia & Mike .... wouldn't want you to suffer too much sunburn while you're here.
Love the Aussie episodes - new viewer/sub.
Greetings from the Upper North Shore of Sydney (near Hornsby).
Thanks mate, we sure are slapping on the sun lotion and wearing hats, we are just not used to the heat here. I think I killed a few bugs with that bum blast though😉🤣
It’s a hell of a climb. You’ve gone from my first backyard in Katoomba to my current backyard!
Maybe next one will be your next back yard and we will beat you to it😉
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot ooh, see you in Newcastle! 😁
Tea Gardens was the home of the Leyland Brothers Mike and Mal , who brought outback Australia to the world in the early 70's
Didn't know that, thanks👍
Looks amazing. Thanks for the video!
Thanks Sarah, honestly the views from the top were just breathtaking 👍💕
Looks amazing and that view ⛰️.😄
Yep that view was just stunning 👍💕
I am glad that you enjoyed yourselves , especially with your daughter . She is so pretty . The views are amazing !
Thanks, yes we had such a good time👍
AH hahahahahaha! Perfect finale!
🤣
Great episode - stunning beaches for sure and that climb was worth it
Loved the cruising sequence lol you look at home in an open top 😂 don’t get to attached as that may be the first upgrade on return
Thanks for sharing as it looks great and your missing all the storms
Thanks, we've been hearing about the storms, I think we timed it perfectly for getting away. Could definitely get used to the convertible, but wouldn't be quite the same back home with the weather, especially at the moment.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Great vlog. Loved the end
Thanks, had to be done🤣
You've tried bum blasters. Next step, bum burners 😅. Good luck 😂
Think I'll leave these ones for you Susan 🤣👍💕
hi Guys, great wee video. looks like your having a Ball! keep safe and enjoy your family visit. Janie Oh and PS . Our hotel room ( when we have one ) looks like yours LOL
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it, and glad it's not just our hotel room that looks like that🤣
Oh gosh - you guys are really putting in a huge effort! When will you rest & relax?
We are getting in the oddday just to do nothing but most of the time making it count while we are here👍
Yeh Nelsons bay is nice Hope you find some time to go to the Hunter valley vineyards well worth a visit.
It was on the list but had to be axed as not enough time, darn it.
Mike n Tricia, there is a big positive with your "trecks". You will end up fitter and maybe a little tanned.
Thanks Terry, that would be great if we achieve both these👍💕
YAY!!!!!
🍻 cheers
Oh my goodness, please tell your daughter no more hills I feel so concerned for you. Lots of things to see that are on more gentle inclines. 😂 you ended on a loud toot.
Thanks Margaret hopefully that's the last hill for a while and that we have a more leisurely time. Certainly did end on a bit of a high note 😳
You'll have to do something about your windy problem Mike.
crocodile (man from) Dundee, looks good, but my heart goes out to Tricia on her climbing, but the views look worth it (I hope)
Views definitely worth it, and weather great, a tad better than what you have been having with storm Babet, I've seen the pictures.
you are right about the weather,, I have never seen the Tay so high, and many streets are not passable trees down and flooding. but anyway enjoy the rest of your holiday with your daughter and her boy friend@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot
My sister in Montrose has said Brechin seems to have been hit the worst. She was able to get through to her daughters in Stonehaven today though.
Heyy , really nice video, I was wondering if I can help you by better video editing and also make highly engaging short. Let me know to have my portfolio or your edited sample video.
❤
Cheers,
Rajvir Singh
😂😂😂😂
Cheers Dunk👍🤣
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot I was gonny say I loved that walk up the hill and the views were amazing but then I burst oot laughing at the end 😆 🤣
ka-roo-ah += Karuah ...Anna Bay not beach shoal Bay .

You guys are Great! Luv Ya!
Thanks Frank👍💕
