Glycerin is one of the best moisturizers for skin. A few drops in the palm of your hand mixed with a few drops of water and you can cover your face and hands. Let it dry. It will feel sticky at first, but after it dries (a few minutes maybe), your skin will be very soft. As for the demo, I liked how you mixed small batches and showed how to mix them. Very well done!
So glad I watched this video!!! I've been trying to find moulds for items that just aren't out there at a price I can pay.... Now I can make my own!!!! Thank You, thank you, thank you. Update... I've watched many times now so I'm trying my own today!!! So excited
Thanks for this wonderful information regarding silicone caulk and mold making. Didn't realize too much cornstarch might make my molds unstable if I add water after it has set up. I plan on using my molds with plaster of Paris.
Thanks for posting an informative video. I work with polymer clay and had been wanting to make my own texture sheets with silicone and corn starch. I generally use just enough corn starch to slightly thicken the silicone. Then I lightly starch my hands and a sheet of wax paper and knead the ball. It has worked beautifully. I did not know about adding glycerine and I wondered why people bothered to add paint. So, all of my questions answered and some possible variations on my method.
Very informative. I didn't know about glycerin being used for mold making. I have silicon sealant and don't know when to start making molds. Wasn't sure if I could succeed till I have watched this video. It the only one I have seen the use of glycerin. Actually, all molds are good, but I think each, for a specific mold. Thanks a lot!
I believe they all wil work ? Can you do video making molds out of all those so we can see difference in them all ! Really like your demonstration. Thanks lisa
That was awesome. Because I have many different types of molds i want to make. Some need very firm. Some need slightly pliable. And some need the super pliable for complex molds.
The thing about adding mineral spirits is that they evaporate over time, which results in significant shrinkage. This can be useful, if one wishes to reduce the size of an existing part. With the right amount, one can get about 33% reduction from the size of the master.
Best mixing video I have seen yet !! I wish I could see an actual mold making video from You or is there one already ?? want to make ho slot car bodies thanks for the tips !!
I enjoyed this video very much. What I want to make is a mold out of lace material. It needs to be very thin so the lace that comes out of the molds closely mimics the original lace, I think I’ll try the recipe you used on the pink formula!
If you want pourable silicone that's safe for plastics, then thin the silicone caulk with silicone oil. Add a little cornstarch to reduce the setup time. You're welcome.
Amazing,😂 i would try these out if only I can get the materials in the few stores in this little country, the silicone itself is well known here, and I noticed that all our plumbers use silicone to fix everything.t thank you for the education, I appreciate very much.,😚
This is the only video I’ve found that tells what to do about the vinegar smell! Cool! Though I’m wondering what would happen if someone tried the neutral-cure, no-odor type of silicone (and maybe mixed it with starch). Couldn’t that be another way to avoid the smell?
You can make a nice mother mold from Magic Sculpt. That's an epoxy type of material, and it is pretty easy to just mold by hands, and it cures really rigid. I've seen it on Amazon and at the Compleat Sculptor. Magic Smooth is similar, but thinner and is normally used to coat foam.
love this man great tutorial thanks for this a lot and you explained perfectly. can wait to see more of your work.. ps ;( i did buy the ge 100 % at home depot silicone... any one help me find the tutorial he mentioned.. (also whats the dif between type 1 type. 2 types. can i use those little capd toothpaste looking silicone bottles for small projects thanks again
Hello, just watched your video, very nicely detailed. I make soap and I wanted to apply something like this to my wooden mold so the soap won’t stick to the mold. In your opinion which would probably be the best to use. Thank you
forgot to say would really like to see a mold made from start to finish I have some ornaments I would like to be able to make molds from and then use paper clay to fill the molds.
What ingrediants would you need to MAKE dolls? Not the Mold Press, but the Substances you use to MAKE the doll itself. Im new at this :) Thank You so much for your videos. They are very helpful!
bonjour j utilise juste du silicone de l eau et du liquide vaiselle pour faire les moules, j avais essayé avec la maizena mais le resultat etait moins bon
Great video ! Thanks for taking your time and explaining everything slowly and clearly ! In your trials, have you found any type of ingredient that makes it pourable and non corrosive to plastic? Wanting to make a car model mold and pouring would be the best option, but my concern is the mineral spirits would dissolve the molded piece as it cures... Thanks and subscribed!
I've seen a lot of videos about the silicone caulk/cornstarch molds....nobody says why you actually need cornstarch...like, the silicone is pretty thick, if you used a good release, why couldn't you just use the silicone straight out of the tube? I don't have a problem using the cornstarch, but nobody says why you need it and who determined we should use it? Is it just to thicken the already thick silicone? When its used for its intended use, (caulk) it doesn't need to be mixed with anything, right?
Laz - 5:00 I hope you didn't slice that caulk tube (prior) with a knife or scissors. A lady on another video has been embarrassing us macho men with this tip..... apparently there is hole in the handle of the caulk gun .... it's a cutting blade. Who knew?
Wished you had continued with your channel especially about making and working the silicone molds.

Yes yes yes, just what I needed, thank you for posting this!
Thanks for sharing this video with us. I want to try to make a copy of a plastic car part.

Very interesting! I am just starting out, what would you recommend? I was going to try cornstarch after I try the dish soap and water.
Very cool video thank you for showing the different ways
Best mixing video I have seen yet !! I wish I could see an actual mold making video from You or is there one already ?? want to make ho slot car bodies thanks for the tips !!
Great video, thanks for sharing. Be very interested in seeing actual mould making so I can hopefully use in my candle making. Cheers from the U.K.

What is silicone oil? Is there another alternative for it? I want to recast some parts from my Gundam plastic model.
I have searched half the day away for something like this, huge thank you, absolutely perfect, I'm so happy! 😃
Great more please !
Nicely done! Good video!
Thanks for the info. Your video is clear and easy to follow. Could you make a video making a mold to use with wax.
Thank you for the tutorial.
Thank you for mentioning not to use GE silicone 2. I couldn't figure out why this wasn't working after following similar videos.
excellent cost saver!! best yet
Thanx for posting Laz
thank you for the video!! learn something new everyday!
use high acetone nail polish remover to thin your silicone so you can our it and get a nice thin detailed first coat
Amazing,😂 i would try these out if only I can get the materials in the few stores in this little country, the silicone itself is well known here, and I noticed that all our plumbers use silicone to fix everything.t thank you for the education, I appreciate very much.,😚
I am hoping you do complete molds.
I'd love to see something mid-sized (8 to 10 inches tall)
This is the only video I’ve found that tells what to do about the vinegar smell! Cool! Though I’m wondering what would happen if someone tried the neutral-cure, no-odor type of silicone (and maybe mixed it with starch). Couldn’t that be another way to avoid the smell?
The sample with the mineral spirit need corn starch as well to get the firmness

Why'd you give up on making new videos dude? these were really cool!
Something may have happened to him.
@@awaitingthetrumpetcall4529 Maybe so :(
You can use acetone to dilute the silicone, when it drys it evaporates...

The curing agent in silicone is acetic acid, that's what the smell is.
Hi! ffrom Bosnia. Thanks! Teacher.
very best video .I am wait new videos from you

Will vegetable glycerin work for this purpose?
forgot to say would really like to see a mold made from start to finish I have some ornaments I would like to be able to make molds from and then use paper clay to fill the molds.
If I use isopropilic alcohol i'll it works to make the silicone pourable?
Would like to see a scale and weights with measure testing of stretching, tear resistance, etc.
emeğine sağlık güzel video
Thanks for the video! Can diy molds be made with non-silicom caulking like Dap 30 or hybrid sealant?
What ingrediants would you need to MAKE dolls? Not the Mold Press, but the Substances you use to MAKE the doll itself. Im new at this :) Thank You so much for your videos. They are very helpful!
Hi may you notify me when you get answers
bonjour j utilise juste du silicone de l eau et du liquide vaiselle pour faire les moules, j avais essayé avec la maizena mais le resultat etait moins bon
I am not Neil , these are the only kind of molds I like , another kinds of molds I kill with bleach . lol thanks for sharing
The smell is acetic acid. It's the same acid that's in vinegar just a stronger acid version.
good stuff looks like fun I'm enjoying the wax you sent me.
Can you cast low temp metals like pewter or bismuth in these molds?
Did you have PB&J and Top Roman for lunch?
Great video ! Thanks for taking your time and explaining everything slowly and clearly !

what about the starch, some body oil and glyserine together?
Sit your smelly molds outside for a few days and the sun will cure the smell and mold faster and house won't stink.
Sir, where have you been all my life before???
Could you use this mixture for making a mask?
You CANNOT use any of these stuff on humans or anything living for that matter. They do sell special molding material for body parts.
I could not understand the mineral sprit ..wot is this?
Ever try baby oil?
What happened? Y no more videos?

Mike Love corn starch will also set the silicone in an hour. Without it it will take 24 hours
In thick sections it won't cure without some form of moisture like the cornstarch or glycerin. In thin sections it works fine straight from the tube.
wait so would i put the part i want to cast in the silicone while its curing?
How else would you get a mold of it?
You can put nafta instead mineral spirit...and no need to add paint just buy white silicon😁
Try stay flo liquid starch
Laz - 5:00 I hope you didn't slice that caulk tube (prior) with a knife or scissors. A lady on another video has been embarrassing us macho men with this tip.....
apparently there is hole in the handle of the caulk gun .... it's a cutting blade. Who knew?
Need to explain in more details
I was told...caulk and corn starch...was enough not true?
Wow! Now I can cast my own Fleshlight!
If you dip your hands in water with a large amount of dish soap, it won't stick to your hands.
lol "wait until it no longer stinks..."
Come back
Me parece una estupidez que la persona habla Inglés y los subtítulos también inglés, no sería razonable que lo tradujera al español x ejemplo?
It's 100% silicone not caulk lol
