Hi Jay, thanks for the comment. I could do but I can tell you now. Electric £80 per month, Water £11 per month and wifi, TV, phone contract is £55 per month. Hope that helps, mate!
We laughed our way through this video, loved the sense of humour.👌😆😂 Happy for you guys, bigger, better, cheaper house, what’s not to like. All the best in your new home.❤️ Tchau for now. 🥂🥂❤️❤️🇵🇹🇵🇹
Hey, how's it going guys? Thank you, I try not to be too serious. Yeah, I am very happy with the change. Bet the prices are much more reasonable on your side of the river! Thanks for your kind words!
Nice, quite roomy, functional, clean and in good decorative order. Fitted wardrobes, chests of draws and other storage space like the walk in wardrobe is always good in a flat, especially if you have a woman like mine who has an outfit for every other day in the year and pairs of shoes that would out do Imelda Marcus's collection! The utility room is a plus too. For most of my adult life I've had a separate kitchen in our flat here in Blighty, hate the idea of sitting watching and trying to listen to something on the box when the kettle or something cooking on the stove is making a racket. Anyway, all the best in your new home!
Thanks for the comment GeordieFX. Yeah its a good little upgrade in comparison to the previous gaff. Your right there is so much wardrobe space. Its all been taken up, you have guessed correctly. First time in about 5 years that I have a separate kitchen. Thanks for your kind words mate.
Wow seems a lot of money, we bought our house 55 years ago for £2,700 , looks a very nice place & I hope you will be happy in your new place, best of luck for the future xxx🎉
It is so much money, but I guess it's the price you pay to live in the sun! I would love to be able to buy buy that's when the prices get crazy here. Thank you for your kind words Linda.
Good move to move on I think, although needless to say the landlord will no doubt get someone new in at the increased price!!. New place looks very nice with plenty of space. I'll keep a look out for the blue plaque when I'm walking down Main Street on my next visit to the rock!!
Thank you for the comment Diddy1970AD. Yeah I am very happy that I have made the switch. I am sure they will have got someone in. Lets hope a plaque is put up. Haha.
Hi mate so glad you have a good and bigger house now in Gibraltar. I am sentimental to and i find it hard to say goodbye to people and things. Excellent video and I really enjoyed that.
You were paying more or less the going rate for an old 2 bed in town, good luck to the landlord getting £1600, it only needs to sit empty for one month and the landlord loses out.
Thanks for the comment, Stephen. I was happy with the old rent price. I would have kept paying. Moving is a pain, but I wasn't gonna pay £1,600. Yeah, I reckon it will be empty for a while.
Excellent decision mate! The landlord has just got too greedy and now will find he'll be out of rent for a while, plus when eventually finds a new tenant will also be paying fees once again to the letting agent for finding a new tenant and drawing up the agreement. I suspect you would have swallowed a hundred pound a month increase to avoid the hassle and pain of moving. All the best from here in Ocean Village!
Absolutely Lee. I think he has shot himself in the foot mate. They have got too greedy, and I must admit its the best £100 per month I have spent. What a coincidence I am also replying to you from Ocean Village this afternoon. Hope all is well!
Your absolutely right mate. If I had the right to live in Europe, I would go back to living in Spain and commuting to Gib but since the vote, I don't have that option.
Good luck in your new home it's lovely 🏡 wanted to comment on the rent price...I follow a few gib pages on fb and whenever anyone in UK asks about moving to Gibraltar...people who live there tend to say stuff like "I hope your rich" it's Expensive to live here etc....basically always negative which I interpret as "trying to put people off" I find it amusing as it's pretty much every comment 😅 and so obvious. Yes it probably is true as it british 🙄but my answer is i'm from an live in SW London... 1.20p for a pint of milk is the first rung of the Expensive living in london ladder EVERYTHING in london Expensive if you can live here you can live anywhere i think. Rent is the same if not more for a smaller property so if you were sharing, makes it do,able. So thank you for sharing this I hope to come an live n work in Gibraltar in the future and although the negative people an comments don't put me off or do I take seriously. It's refreshing that you show the realistic and true information.
Thanks for such a fantastic comment, Vicki Lou. And thanks for the kind words. I follow the same FB pages, and I know exactly what you are talking about. I see the exact same negative comments. I am from SE London also so I know how expensive London is. It may work out a little bit more expensive, but I am happy to pay that for 330 days a year of sunshine, good climate, I can go to Spain anytime if I fancy an escape. Moving to Gibraltar was a great decision, and I have zero regrets. Good luck and I hope you manage to make it out here!
Exactly 👍 that's the way i would look at it....thanks to your videos ...information packed as well as interesting. Also helps make me think it is realistic and possible. So again many thanks. I seen in one of your Videos where you from...not too far away I'm in Posh putney like I said if you can live here you can live anywhere 😅😅 best wishes tovgib tv
So true Vickilou! A lot of those locals rent government housing and pay around £140 a month rent. Open market rents in Gib are pretty much on a par with London. A one bedroom flat in Ocean Village goes for around £2000 a month as it will include pools, lift, private parking and such facilities older properties in town don't come with. Outside of cost of housing everthying else in Gib is cheaper than in the UK. Unfortunately minimum wage is £9.00 an hour and the job pool is somewhat limited.
@vickilou3735 I know Putney very well. All that manor, Battersea, Wandsworth etc. Fellow South Londoner. Thank you for all your kind words. I am glad you find that you find the videos interesting and helpful. Moving abroad is easier, in my opinion than most people think. You are gonna get charged top whack in London, at least I think its better to pay top whack here and live in the Sun. Thanks for the comment.
I Thort only Dick Turpin wore a mask ? Well done don't be held to ransom as previously said landlord has to pay new fees for a new Tennant lol. I assume everything is split 50/50 with your partner . Rent prices are similar to Jersey Channel islands. Treat your self to some new tea towels for your new home Best wishes ❤️
Hi Shaun, Thanks for the comment. Yes, I think it was the right thing to do, mate. Yeah, we split everything 50/50. New tea towels is a good shout. Thanks for watching.
Tbh it looks like you got every angle covered even a spare bed even if you have a ding dong. I thought you lived in bomb lane which isn't far from you. I would invest in some USB night lights as it will charge up your tech gear and keep the lights off . Can I ask what time of the day did you record the video ?
@Shaun9230 yeah mate. It's a good idea, actually. You weren't far off tbh! I was about 12 metres away from Bomb House Lane. Lovely little area to live but not at that price!
Yes I thort as much as you did a video on main street pubs & bars starting at the Bristol where me & my good lady stayed last January. We're off to Jersey for a 4 day break maybe you should try it another British enclave not governed by Westminster grab yourself a Jersey pound note 🫠
Great video. Enjoy the new place, any chance you could do a video discussing how much the monthly bills are in Gibraltar? Cheers

@@theofficalGibTV straight to the point. Got to love that. You make by far the best videos related to Gibraltar online.
@jaydouglas5891 thanks for saying that, Jay! Appreciate it mate.

That is a nice-looking property - well worth the move. Hope both of you will be very happy there.
Thank you for your kind words, David. I defos think it's an improvement.

@@theofficalGibTV Thanks for the reply, glad you made the right decision. Being in Gib maybe not a blue plaque but a red one!!
Your new place looks really nice. Glad you got sorted out OK.
Thanks, Brian. It has been a stressful couple of weeks, but I am glad it's all sorted now!
Hi mate so glad you have a good and bigger house now in Gibraltar. I am sentimental to and i find it hard to say goodbye to people and things. Excellent video and I really enjoyed that.
Hello Bobby, thanks for the kind words. I know exactly what you mean! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Thanks, George! Yeah, I am pretty happy about it. It was time for change, I think. Hope to see you soon!
Ah good luck in the new gaff. Looks like you got a lot for your buck there. 👍
Thank you, Samantha. I appreciate it.

No real control on rents in gibraltar unfortunately especially in the private sector thats why a lot of people are forced to live in spain.
Your absolutely right mate. If I had the right to live in Europe, I would go back to living in Spain and commuting to Gib but since the vote, I don't have that option.
