hey venture, if you’re here, i am a ball main who climbed from silver 1 to plat 2 on venture when they were released and now i’m diamond 4. one huge tip for you.
something i have already noticed 5 minutes in is your burrow exit timing. you hang on to it and wait to charge it fully.
you don’t need to on squishies, especially ones that are already low. it does so much damage as soon as you press the button. charging is often not the right play.
tunnel leap shoot dash/melee dead. it’s a split second combo and in rooms like with that sojourn it is a fight ender.
3 easy kills became fights or were lost entirely by hanging on to it just a split second too long and it’s just early point two.
idk if emongg will mention this, but i saw it immediately and it happens often. this will 100% help so so so much.
i talk too much sorry but you got this! just practice popping burrow leap faster fr
okay and at the very end of point three defense you went in burrowed - that is correct - but then you jumped out the second you got there.
that is not correct, for two huge gameplay reasons.
1) venture is soooo good at stalling. wildly so. stay underground as long as you can for free.
stall, and then don’t engage someone directly (situational. not a hard rule.) - just focus on dancing around the cart and cycling cooldowns, only peppering damage when you can. in these moments taking no damage is (often) more important than doing it.
2) additionally; there was a large group that was not going far. in a case like this, you (generally) want to get as big of a splash as you can, before you have to engage/start cooldown cycling.
an added benefit of waiting underground is also that your team may show up in those seconds, so the large group of enemies will be more distracted when you pop up.
again, really small timing adjustments but on this hero they mean a ton. you got this homie
wow thats really great advice, i like playing venture and im bronze-silver. im def gonna try these awesome tips out! thanks!!
Getting your charge and damage feeling in order does really help with venture indeed, a lot of players either expect a venture to instantly pop out or to charge it completely, whilst most of the time half a charge is enough to get the elim. even when they are full hp. since you can combo really nicely with drill dash and melee
@@tylerrozie no problem!
i’ll expand some more if it helps:
i instinctively play venture like ball. hard flanking, playing deep in their backline and almost never seeing my backline. creating space.
i swear am not lying to you when i say when venture was released, i played an hour of warmup in quicklplay and then won 14 games in a row in comp and climbed to gold 2 from silver 1. they were stronger then tho tbf.
but still they are so survivable and they are so good at drawing attention and getting kills on squishies.
but even if you don’t hard commit to a kill, if you can draw a pair of eyes or two away from your frontline (and stay alive), you are providing serious value.
not sure what you know about the term “space” but you wanna create space with venture.
basically you want to pull the ‘center of gravity’ of the fight towards you and away from where the enemy wants to go. make the group of teammates split off from each other.
then either get a kill and rotate; or do a little damage and rotate thru the backline and survive and repeat.
is that a perfect playstyle? no im diamond. but also i was silver dps (didn’t play much tbf) like 3? seasons ago. watch yeatle videos. hope this helps.
@@CharterForGaming yeah exactly. it ends up being about their reading reaction times and trying to adjust in individual games.
but frankly below like plat 5 it’s more about just collapsing on an isolated target quickly and getting the elim before they can react.
I just realized I've never seen "Saving ult until Half-Life 3 comes out"
half life 3 would be fire
saving ult for overwatch 3 is a common one I use, half life is somethin else haha
I use till ow3 all the time lol @@kernoleary1394
idk if this is good advice but when i play flankers i tend to take seeing the tank's face as a sign that i messed up
I think this Venture "adjusted their playstyle" after they were called out by teammates to focus more on the tank/frontline instead of flanking, which is why the last third is a little tough, positioning-wise.
It's not unheard of especially at this elo to hear wild advice/getting flamed from teammates who don't play your character but think you should be changing something as the team isn't winning.
Not to make an excuse for the bad choices but was just thinking that it was a possibility based on what they said in the submission description.
As a flex player, it's so obvious when someone doesn't play that role when they start talking out their butt about what that person should be doing. It baffles me when people think they have the "solution" when they don't play the role or character. If my teammate isn't doing well, I try to think what can I do to help enable them.
At this point I am convinced that when you're sitting somewhere in a café with Emongg and someone says 'hammer down', or 'for the crusaders' (plays Reins sound cue) he will yell out "big slam" 😂😂😅
Wait it's hammer down?? I always thought he was saying hammer of DOOM
@@namelessliberty9869 while starting to play, I misunderstood him too ^^ but it's 'hammer down' :) just look at (hear) his football skin saying 'touch down'.
My go-to rollout for Venture is burrow, drill in, circle around to max out the burrow timer and find the best target to damage, and by the time I'm holding down the button to damage popping out of the ground, I have a new drill dash to get out immediately. This puts both your cooldowns perfectly in sync
That roll out is perfect for charging ult and creating the sense of threat. You make a big distraction, do plenty of damage, it is better if you ping or are on coms so others can follow up on that, especially if someone's poking
I love the difference between emong and flats in these videos, flats will be cursing your whole bloodline for missing 5 shots whereas emong seems like he physically cannot get angry or annoyed at you even if you’re playing like someone gave Stephen hawking a controller and put him in a top 500 game (no hate to either of them I love both equally lol)
To be far he doesn't do coaching and when submitting the videos he does let you know that you will be made fun of. It's mainly just for content and maybe to learn a thing or two.
Yeah Flats can be funny to watch but I've learned so much for my own gameplay from Emongg
As a Reaper player, setting up is literally half of what I do each match. One rule-of-thumb I try to abide by (not always) is that if a team is not backing up towards my team (or going in terrible spots) when I pop-up, I'm not posing enough of a threat and/or my place on the map is insignificant. I also recommend ults (for flankers like Reaper, Venture, Tracer, Sombra, etc) to be used to force cds, set-up combos, and/or confirming eliminations.

🐈 ❤️
Why is chat talking about fighting stawmen arguments and public schools failing after the editing cuts lol
I feel like the aim is a big problem. As soon as he dashes, his aim just falls apart. Can’t exactly tell you to “get better aim” tho, but I think that’s one of the reasons you can’t finish anything off.
Venture instantly became my favorite dps as soon as I tried them out, happy to find this vod revue!
As a tracer player it’s all about setups and distracting/drawing attention and resources away from the my team, I feel like venture has the burst damage to really mess up that soldier and displace the bastion and force their turret form and heal stations if not kill them out right similar with the illari, defo could climb but needs to stop gravitating towards fighting the rein head on, there are better dps for that like bastion cas etc
ALRIGHTTTT SO!!!
at my elo my team engages very early on so its difficult to set up for really good dives with wrecking ball
As a flanker player (Tracer mostly, some Reaper or Sombra) best thing to do is get behind them, harass and force cooldowns, then gtfo. Flanking isn't all about the elims, it's just as often if not more often about dividing attention.
If I can swing behind, and force one or both of the supports to turn and look at me, then that's healing/dmg/utility that their team doesn't get. If I can secure the kill, great. But I try not to chase an elim. After all, if you've got a Tracer zipping around randomly poking your back you aren't effective...you're too busy checking your back for the Tracer. If I die, thats time they KNOW they can focus on my team.
Set up. Wait for the team fight to start, hit them, dart away and get healing if you need it, and circle back to repeat.
That's the advice I've been given, and my flanker plays have definitely improved.
Hello emongg how do I send gameplay to you so u can watch??
u send it in his discord
Wow, I thought a bot commented twice for a second but it's two different ones with the same picture 🤣
ye, saw it too xD
I play a lot of Sombra and people will get mad that you’re not doing anything but honestly making a Support waste a valuable CD can be a fight winner. If I’m making the Ana use Nade on herself and not my team that’s a win. I wait until the fight starts and then pop out to harass one of the back line. Don’t start fights too early as a flanker
ALRIGHT, SO..
What's the deal with the 3 bots posting the same exact comment?
First of all, BIG SLAM 😂
How do we actually send you a vod of the game?
in his discord
Ngl the aim is very painful to watch this is not gold level aim lmao
How is he getting killed by rein every single time?
The way I understood 16:11 is that theres a difference between "Oh, a Venture" and "Oh shit, a Venture". May not help anyone but on an off chance..lol
Ibdeidibede dont even know what is going on
I'm a gold 5 venture too and this person plays really similar to me, so this is really helpful because it tells me to go for better setups rather than thinking poking will be more helpful, also mechanics
I never play venture so I didn't know you could dash under the ground
guys can you still do the slingshot with life and cass??
HAS to be bronze, with them stacking on the cart on overtime.
i had a game in a primarily plat and low diamond lobby where the tank, other support, and one of the dps wanted to hang out on cart on dorado. I was on kiriko and had to tell them to go make space and I would push cart. then they did the same thing on our next round of attack lmao
even when we weren't in overtime
so no, that alone is not enough to determine the rank
@sethescope damn.. yeah, doesn't even make it worth ranking up at that point
@@curliousoakshield2889 i completely disagree. silly things happen less the higher you climb, and you're always going to run into people who maybe got lucky with matchmaking and then don't play comp much or people who are boosted and stuff like that. this kind of thing rarely happens in my games. most of the time, one person stays on cart and everyone else goes to win the fight. something you'll discover if you climb is that in each rank, people understand a little bit more of the game on average, so more people will take high ground the higher you climb until EVERYONE knows to take high ground and so on.
20:38 they really showed that pylon who was boss!
they do a whole lot of shooting at nothing
the thing that kinda annoyed me was when they burrowed out of spawn. like babes, you don't need to do that. save that for when you really need it. dash out of spawn all you like, i do that.
but i do wish you the best in climbing up the ranks
Depends on the distance they need to travel, but it does actually help. Dash cooldown reduces at double speed while burrowed
@@tabbyseraph huh, never actually knew that
