- Outside of Kansas City, multiple semi-trucks crashed and shut down part of I-70 due to the storm. Also, more than 2,000 flights were canceled Wednesday across the U.S.

@@ginadelsasso288 I'm in a rural area of Missouri, in the heart of the ice and snow passing over. It is eerily quiet except for the snow plows on the main road. Usually we can't hear traffic at all. But tonight the sound of grinding ice woke me.

I just do not understand why people venture out into the roads especially when bad weather is predicted...road workers need to de-ice the roads. Airports close down, so why do drivers put themselves and others in danger...

I work oilfield in Colorado, and im unlucky enough to work night shifts. It’s been cold AF and very painful. There’s no such thing as snow days for us. Tonight has been super effin cold 🥶
At least it’s not in Minnesota this time. Im sure it will be here again soon.

Why are trucking companies end employers forcing drivers on the roads in life threatening conditions?!! The forecast already showed that conditions would be dangerous even for large vehicles!! Corporate greed in America is sickening
I saw a great sticker on a truck once and it said that if U don't want trucks on the road then don't buy crap........In simple terms U do need to buy food and some goods but the amount of people I know who buy new clothes all the time and rugs, towels etc is incredible.......If people didn't buy so much crap only half the amount of trucks would be needed on the road.
I had to deliver food to Chicago today. While it took me 3 extra hours due to going 30mph on snow covered roads you can't just shut everything down. The warehouses can't just accept 2x the deliveries or 3x the deliveries after every storm and catch the whole supply chain up, a lot of them already run near capacity. No trucks out today means food and potentially other shortages in the next 1-3 days.
If we went away from just in time supply chains maybe we could shut trucks down for every storm, but it would add a lot of extra waste and inventory and ultimately add cost making things harder to afford.
But if the local government won't close the roads employers won't excuse you to stay at home

Who here remembers the winter of 78-79 now THAT was a fun storm to be sure my siblings and I made A LOT of money that year shoveling snow as that was the dark ages before the internet and MTV so the only thing we kids could do when we werent building forts having snowball fights or sled riding we were helping the older folks in our neighborhood. Reporting from mahoning county Thursday 10:50 am . It’s not bad yet but compared to two hours ago it’s getting worse . Still raining , lots of slush . Roads are driveable mostly with many slick spots that are getting worse with the storm . Stay home if you can and enjoy your house today and do whatever you can to stay busy and at least get something done .

If you have snow tire and enough weight to help traction then at least you have better chance to avoid accidents. Its even better, if the law requires everybody to use tire chain for better traction during winter just like in GERMANY...

I watch a UA-cam channel called The Somers in Alaska and even though it is snowing there people ask how they survive short Winter days but their house is big, has tall ceilings and is bright and airy.......If my home looked like that I'd be pretty happy to stay indoors a lot too during the Winter too. If you don't have room for a small gym then buy one of those Peloton exercize bikes with the computor screen on them.......It saves U having to try and drive thru the snow to get to a gym and it keeps U fit and active.
Man the rest of the country getting crazy amounts of snow and here we are 60% lower snow fall for the last 2 years. This year we are getting low snowfalls again.
