Pre reg pay is much higher in hospital than in community (31-33k approx in London) and pharmacists qualifying after 2026 will be independent prescribers straight away
as a pharmacist I don't recognise pharmacy anymore ,due to store closures wages are going down Pharmacy is in decline .I will be a servant in the surgery never completely sure . The time when I was a king or in the best scenario a prince in the pharmacy has gone forever.. .... i don't see any perspectives in the UK .I saw 19£ per /h for Boots I could earn 40 Euro in Ireland ,but money is not important .
can i ask how well off are you as a Pharmacist and how difficult it is to make it? I just enrolled in a 5 year program in Europe but im not really sure about my decision and it'd really help me out if you could share your experience as a Pharmacist 😊
@@JanNjam Congrats and getting into your program! In the US I do very well as a Pharmacist. However, I have more than one employer. And do contract work through my consulting startup. I would say in the US, If you stay away from the big chains you can do well and have a great life outside of work too. The problem is that these non traditional jobs are difficult to come by. If you check out the Videos on my channel I talk a bit about the different areas in Pharmacy. I will also do videos on Pharmacy entrepreneurship and my side Hustles that make me extra $$$ that make Pharmacy extremely lucrative.
Do not compare, it’s useless !! It depends on one’s circumstance !! Instead, you better share knowledge , it’s more helpful !! Sorry, I don’t mean to defame you !!
Iam a med student but my passion was always in chemistry In your opinion what is better continuing and then make researches in toxins and biochemistry OR change major to pharmacy
In the uk you can be a pharmacy prescriber and its been changed to a 5 year degree to integrate this prescriber course. With pharmacy you can do pharmaceuticals, army jobs, community, hospital, qaulity control. Locum pharmacists can make £35 to 40 per hr. Pharmacy you can also own your own business. Also you have a registration year. Medicine has fp1 and fp2. But the registration year for pharmacy is more difficult than medicine. However in medicine you do more exams after this to be a gp and so on. The pharmacy pre reg exam is one of the hardest things you can do. I passed it but it killed me i remember the attempt i failed before passing i had 96 in 120 and 25 out of 40 but still failed.. As my year they wanted 88 for clinical and 26 for calcs. And grade boundaries always change. Also with pharmacy you can convert into law and work for gphc and as a solicitor.
Also this guy is wrong for pre reg pharmacists. Pre regs can make 30k for example st georges uni offer 30k or so to their pre regs. And ucl around that too. Kings hospital roughly the same. Some communities offer 24k during pre registration year. Imperial offer about 21 to 22k to their pre regs.
@@user-ll7gr2um4syou can work in hospital, community, gp (only in combination with somewhere else) and industry. You can apply externally for community and industry places only but you apply for hospital and most if not all communities through oriel. Most people want hospital with GP because of the exposure and because the pay is better in hospital (31-33k in London and 27k outside of London). If you only do an industry placement, you can’t become a qualified pharmacist but most industries offer a split with community or hospital to allow you to qualify

Also in gp pre reg spots it's also higher I think. Plus some community pharmacies pay decent amounts.
