- Famous for her pristine technique and sheer elegance, Svetlana Zakharova sparkles and flashes like a cut diamond when she dances, yet is equally exquisite when caught in a simple, singular, static moment in time.

After viewing Osipova is Caught, I was thinking to myself, "Pam has to do the same with Zakharova", but I didn't say anything! So glad you did this compilation: absolute beauty.
HAHA! Nice!! You know what they say about great minds and all lol. Yeah, as soon as I was done with the first Caught video I knew who had to be next.
Дама с камелиями - техническое совершенство и вершина трагедии! Браво!
Svetlana embodies beauty with her expressive hands, gorgeous lines, and sublime bearing. Thank you❤❤❤ for this excellent series

What a nice word
I've loved her from the first moment I saw her dance live in 2009.
Как красиво 😮 спасибо!
Pure Magic ! ❤❤❤❤
Oooo thank you, Pam ! We LOVE your Channel ! 👍👍👍👍❤

MARAVILLA
Well done, Pam. I like your new Caught series and the elegant Zakharova it a fitting subject. Watched it twice.
Thanks David!! Your kind comment made my day. Just the boost I needed to inspire me to keep going with the Caught theme. I can be a textbook over thinker so I'm thrilled to know you enjoyed it.
@@PamBoehmeSimon Happy to help. If you don't mind a request, can you make a Caught video of Diana Vishneva? She's a favorite.
I really enjoyed her in Giselle, not that I am an expert on who has danced the role.
Love requests!! Thanks David. I have always wanted to highlight her and just haven't gotten to it. She's definitely on my list now. @@DavidLeBlanc
❤❤❤
Non ti potrò mai più guardare con gli occhi di prima!
Magnificent, like everything you do, thank you very much.
I don't have words to say my admiration of Zvetlana Zakharova. We kneel before a goddess, and stay mute.
😘
Your comment is so lovely, and generous. Thank you.

I LOVE your Caught series. Could you please do Ulyana Lopatkina next? I’m half Brazilian and half Portuguese professional ballerina trained in Moscow. I dance mainly with Bolshoi based companies especially in Eastern Europe. I love your personal story and clearly you know a lot about our art. Question 🙋🏻♀️ in your opinion, who would you consider THE Prima Ballerinas Assolutas?
🇧🇷🇵🇹🩰❤️
Wow! Thank you Isabela!! Thank you for watching and for writing. So glad to hear your thoughts on my latest idea for a series. I adore Lopatkina and I think she is an excellent subject for the 3rd Caught installment. I have done a video or two of her before and very much enjoyed learning more about her. I love her calm command of our beautiful art. Again, I thank you, for your sweet comment, and as for your question, I find it most intriguing and must ponder on it appropriately. Hugs from Texas. =)
@@PamBoehmeSimon you’re so kind. I know that many dancers don’t know about ballet history. I’ve always been a nerd and need to know things. History is my favorite subject so of course I got a hold on ballet books from a very young age. All the stories like Olga going mad over Giselle, the baby ballerinas, the history of Pas de Quatre (one of my favorite ballets, I love Graham and Taglione’s variations the most but I recently found out that I was born on the same day as Fanny Cerrito!), Alicia Markova choosing a “Russian” name to be more popular, Dame Margot Fonteyn being part Brazilian like me! (Fonteyn is a made up name honoring her Brazilian family name Fontes)… music is a big reason I love ballet. Ulyana has a subtle quality: the curve of her neck, her eyes and especially arms (I have the same hyperextended arms and I have always watched her growing up in ballet school in Moscow to see how she manages her arms), she embodies any role she dances. I always have conversations with myself about the Assoluta titles. I think Galina Ulanova, Maya Plisetskaya, Margot Fonteyn, Alicia Alonso and Alicia Markova have been bestowed the title and I agree. I think Sylvie Guillem transformed POB and would be a contender from France. Darcey Bussell also transformed Royal Ballet. Ekaterina Maximova from Bolshoi is one of my picks (Moscow bias) and Irina Kolpakova from Mariinsky (she coached me so again bias) and of course Ulyana… but I’ll think about it because it’s an endless but fun discussion.
@@isabelaandzico We are of the same mind my friend. I even had Sylvie on my list as well. Personal favorites, I might add Alla Osipenko and Alessandra Ferri. Oh, and the ballerina stories! We must have had the same childhood library lol. I adored Taglioni and Pavlova. Hightower's story was another. And how I cried at the tragic tale of poor Emma Livry. A random interesting fact in my background... Catherine de Medici was my great x 13 grandmother. So ballet is in my blood as well as my heart I guess lol. It's great to find another ballet nerd!! =)
@@PamBoehmeSimon I totally agree with Alessandra Ferri - she is Juliet like to me Irina Kolpakova is Aurora (she’s a wonderful coach and I felt very honored to have her work with me). I just think we should add (I’m having way to much fun btw. Thank you for being so interesting AND interested in my deep dives in ballet history!) Carla Fracci who is Giselle. So you know that I’m partial to the Bolshoi training and companies associated with it (it suits my hyper flexible body, ability to jump and overall big personality onstage), but some of my favorite moments have been challenging myself and have the opportunity to perform other styles (the pieces I love the most are associated with the score), so I was coached by RDB to dance Flower Festival in Genzano (hauntingly beautiful score by allegedly Helsted) and by Gelsey Kirkland (must read her biography if you haven’t - a cautionary tale) in Balanchine’s Valse Fantasie (you can’t go wrong with Glinka’s music). They were great honors and opportunities and I fell in love with Bournonville’s style while I do appreciate Balanchine’s, it doesn’t suit me well. Some of my favorites: Chopiniana (Chopin is one of my favorites and I always visit his grave when I’m in Paris) I’m usually cast in the 11th waltz now, Markitenka Pas de Six is so Russian (did you know that Fanny Cerrito is one of the choreographers?) and Pugni’s music is perfect and finally Diana et Acteon - the one choreographic work by Vaganova (she adds a left turn in female variation that brings me joy and judgment - I’m a lefty who had to work really hard to now be equally expert at turning both directions and yes I do judge dancers who modify the choreography to avoid the dreaded left turn) and beautiful music by Drigo. I’ll never forget dancing Russkaya (or Russian bride in Swan Lake), it’s an honor for a foreigner to do that (I gave my headpiece to my coach). I also fell in love with character dancing the moment I got to Moscow - my favorite role is without doubt the Spanish Dance from Raymonda, actually the whole Raymonda ballet is so hongroise and I love Glazunov. I’m sorry if I’m boring you but you’re literally the only person (other than my coaches and ballet mistresses/masters) who love talking history. Any new additions to our Assoluta List? What are your favorite steps and roles?
