Jim told us what he'd be doing today:
"If I had to do it all over, I think I would have gone for the quiet, undemonstrative artist, plodding away in his own garden trip."
And that's what he's doing today.

I think out of all The Doors, Densmore was always truthful about how he felt about Morrison's drinking , drugs etc, he could not stand it or bare to be in the same room as him. However , out of all of them, he has been the most respectful of Morrison's legacy refusing millions of dollars because he knew Morrison would have done the same.

In the 80s and 90s raging to The Doors music, especially L.A. Woman on a “...Sunday Afternoon” in summer when “the hills are filled with fire” and “...the little angels are lost in the city of lights” I didn’t really get deep and meaningful about the lyrics or Jim’s self destruction and untimely death. And of course Pamelas in 1974. But having escaped cirrhosis and benefitted from gaining wisdom and a modicum of sense I realise how depressed, sad and tragic his life was despite his creative brilliance. Morrison is my favorite singer and I love his poetry. there's a thing that's often overlooked about him though. He had asthma and he smoked cigarettes. So he neglected his health in other ways aside from his drinking. There's a theory that a mixture of asthma medication he took in France (medicine that was illegal in the US) mixed with alcohol is what caused his heart failure. I've read he was coughing really bad and even coughing up blood around that time in Paris. So hypothetically if he didn't go to France and did try to clean up his drinking and live to be old, he would have had to permanently stop smoking cigs 🚬

the best bet w/ morrison kicking booze if he had lived was boredom w/ the process itself. if you follow the trajectory of his career, he intensely went thru phases & then moved on. alcohol may have been the same deal, esp after he got more mature & in his 30's... the problem for jim when he died was his career & life was in a real vice being pressured from various directions. most directly, legally. booze was his escape from for what was for him, very intense growing pressure. the more you feel trapped, the easier it is to become self destructive. if he couldve settled his legal problems, made peace w/ the music industry & his role w/ the doors, then yes, it seems he couldve got much more grounded and ventured into writing & film & find more stability. problem was he didnt get out of the vice in paris.

His death was in the club, they had to get rid of this famous American scoring drugs and snorting and dying in the club where he bought the tainted herion. 🖤 🇫🇷 🇺🇸

derogatory remarks of Densmore are so stupid, listen to Densmore's beat when him and Jim relate back and forth in most of the songs.....are you people insane those two musically got along well. private life is another issue I wasn't around but I have two ears that can hear when they were playing

By all accounts, Morrison and Densmore were not close at all. Often you'll hear stories that Morrison didn't really care for Densmore one way or the other.. flash forward all these years and you'll find Densmore manipulating history for his own self gain. #sad ?

Wrong. John Densmore was the one that Jim liked the least, but respected the most. When Jim called from Paris to ask how L.A. Woman was doing on the charts,he didn't call Ray. He didn't call Robby. He called John Densmore. That speaks volumes.

If Jim Morrison was still alive today, he probably would have become a washed up, fat old man with a number of health problems. It’s sad Jim died very young, but it’s probably for the better that he isn’t alive today. Sometimes it’s better to be remembered while being in your prime.

i hardly consider rap to be real music, so im not defending him or anything or saying he's "better" than morrison because i dont believe that, but eminem really is extremely talented. i mean shit he, being a white guy, is at the top of a music scene overpopulated with almost all minorities, mainly african americans. that's gotta say something right there. disregarding all your personal opinions, look at where he is for the part of music he's in, he's towering over everyone else in his genre

I get selling the book. I saw him in an interview recently and he appeared very rusty on a drumset, plus I get the feeling that he wants to be remembered for his playing with the doors. If his work today was as good as the doors, I would have heard of it. You seem to know more about him than I do so thanks for trying to turn me on to what hes been up to. I might just check it out.

Not to start an argument with you, but Jim was a poet. Don't you think the truly deep lyrics of someone like Eminem at least deserve that much? To be a poet? I know it's a bit modern and such but I would hope someone like you would keep an open mind regardless of the genre, day, and age you are still blessed to be living in?
