reason for Camilla and Halsey in Shake It Off was because her old label didn''t want her to sing music live for broadcast, claiming it violated her contract to not re-record her music. It looks there is a 5 year waiting period in her old contract. There was a legal dispute that also affected her documentary, Miss Americana. During the Reputation Tour, Taylor had her opening artists, Camilla and Charlie XCX come back out and perform this song with her, to help them out (Camilla had her first solo album, don't know about Charlie). She had arranged for them to sing _all_ of the songs in dispute (all but two of these songs) for this show, but then Big Machine dropped their objections (they were getting lots of hate, including death threats). Dick Clark Productions (broadcasters) also disputed some of the things BMLG was saying. Taylor had a _messy_ divorce from Big Machine Label Group.
@@leeannpatrick9895 I mean this is all pretty well documented with various publicist statements from the time… but agree it totally made sense to keep them in this shorter section & give her voice a rest before Lover moment, since there’s very little interstitial. Plus they went out of their way to prep for her last minute when things were still uncertain, so I’m pretty sure she’d like being on stage with both of them as a gesture regardless-especially for Shake it Off. Also mirrors reputation tour as original comment calls out.. fans had awareness already of Taylor using that moment to highlight supporting artists.
If you play guitar for several hours a day (which she did as a teenager) then your fingers bleed. And, sometimes when you change the strings, they snap. There is an NPR Tiny Desk session where she discussed that line. First and last songs were from Lover.
Hey from one old lady to another! I've enjoyed your series. I think you'd like the Lover album based on the performances you liked of Cornelia Street and Lover. Lots of fun pop tunes and some thoughtful meditations as well.
i love your reaction! IMO the guitar string scars is a double meaning. 1, you have when the strings pop and nick you, which shes admitted to happening but 2, the baggage shes written about through songs lingers like a scar
Yes please to Taylor week 2!! Totally understand if you break it up & move to another artist for a bit next, but there’s a very deep well of music, performances, etc-she’s almost definitely this generation’s most productive pop star (at least in my opinion;). And most Swifties are so genuinely excited to see others discover new parts of our little universe for the first time! Sometimes the eagerness can edge towards a bit of demanding energy… so I hope all your responses have been kind & remain that way, but please don’t take it to heart if not. The only downside I’ve found to having such a huge, dedicated fanbase is some “extremists” or infighting becomes kind of unavoidable😭 For me the community & fun has far outweighed any of that, and any ‘fights’ I’ve found myself in were highly unserious, but respect that’s not everyone’s experience. Would LOVE a reaction to The Man music video!! Not my absolute fav of hers but every music video she does reached a pretty high bar, and you can listen to the song in full with us. I believe this is the first video she directed herself & there’s fun behind the scenes content too! Plus the credits always make me giggle
If you do Camila, please watch Living Proof live in the 2019 AMAs… that’s the perfect live performance for that song. She’s amazing live and she’s like acting and performing and singing and high notes everywhere😍
She has a genre or performance for everyone, I swear. 😂
Two albums Folklore & Evermore, pure poetry and story telling from Taylor.
this performance one of my favourite! because she look so happy and her parents and friends look so proud!
You're right, she did look really happy!

Oh, that makes sense.
I think she did it to give her voice a break. She is singing all the other songs from 1989.

The guitar string scar reference is a personal reference of the time when she learned to play guitar, she played until her fingers would bleed.
