I went to Apple and they said I need an iPhone for the find my to appear under people. Is this true ? They didnt even seem sure.
I Myself have had an apple watch for the last 4 years and I have been upgrading every 2 years, I am now 12 and have the new recent apple watch 9 , and it is just now that I have got my first phone, this proves that the apple watch is an amazing device that can do anything I need until the day you get a phone.

According to cell carrier we are not able to add watch without a phone? I have my ultra paired to my cell, and was not able to add another watch(cellular) without adding another phone to pair the watch with on the carriers network. Yes the cellular watch does not need the phone for it to work, but the carrier won’t activate the watch by itself?

i got an series 8 for my kid (8) and the find my sucks! i use it for walky talkie, to call her and to track her, since she walks to school alone (Switzerland) but it still show shes home. smh
Nice technology, but fundamentally kids should learn independance and parents should learn to trust their kids. And the ‘remote monitoring’ goes against that, and creates scared kids and parents in the long run. I’m sure there are types of kids who would benefit from this during some short timeframe while they grow up, but it is sad that the present day society and kids-parents relations would require this.

If you are somewhere without a lot of Apple users (a country where Apple has little market share, or smaller, more limited locations, such as mountain localities, small villages, etc), then AirTags are weaker. They work by pinging off a nearby Apple device’s location and having them update their location. And if there aren’t many Apple devices nearby…
@@tdrg_the Apple AirTag is trash. 1st day of school and it didn’t update for 2 hours yesterday and than when his class was at the park it pinged him at a house across the street as last location for 50 minutes while he was at the park. So I prefer the Apple Watch even though it’s pricey and have to pay a month for cellular service it helps me with peace of mind.

I definitely limit my 8-year-old and my 6-year-old’s Apple Watches, though, simply because there’s no real need for them to have access to all of the features and there are definitely times when they shouldn’t have then such as while they’re in school.
