The sitka spruce soundboard for this guitar came from the Martin factory in the 1980‘s. Huge thanks to Ed for sending it to me to put in a guitar!
Around the 14 minute mark, I said „headstock“ 4 or 5 times where I meant to say „headplate“.

When voicing the top the key is in the decay of the tap. There is an initial tone, then how that sound decays is mostly where you make your stoping point
Your dream of becoming a luthier is no longer a dream Chris.
Now the dream has evolved to do it as a career 😅 Thanks!
Looking good. Can't wait to see it finished and hear it. That top sat in my basement for 40+ years. Hope the guitar sounds as good as it looks. Love that rosette.
Thanks so much Ed! I‘m really trying my best not to screw this up!
Nice work, Chris! That body looks great. Thanks for the shout out!
Thanks man! I wasn‘t sure about a resin rosette at first, but it‘s working out and looks great! I don‘t get tons of views, but hopefully you‘ll get some business here or there.
@@CMRWoodworks Views or not, I still appreciate it.
Looking good thanks for the video
Thank you. Thanks for watching!
Looks great Chris!
Thanks man!
Nice video to look at. I thought you could preshape your bracing with the spindlesander.
Looks good
Nice work. I’m working on two right now. I have never recorded any of my builds. I think I will start right after I finish the two I’m working on.
You should record! I‘d watch for sure.
Very cool, I like the toothpick idea. I sometimes stop by a Rockler store and remember that the have pen blanks. I may have to check them out.
Thanks for watching! I like the idea of using pen blanks for rosettes because they are fairly cheap and you can get some really nice woods that would otherwise be really expensive to buy if buying larger stock. I bought some blanks from bellforestproducts.com as well. It‘s easier for me to order online instead of driving 45 minutes to the closest Rockler or Woodcraft.
@@CMRWoodworks Ours is about the same distance, but we use it as part of our rationalization to have lunch at our favorite Italian restaurant down the road. 😁
Very nice Chris, I really like that rosette you made its nice to add a pop of color wherever you can.
Yeah, I‘m really glad how the resin rosette has worked out!
This looks great Chris. I'm hoping to get my own acoustic build started soon.
Thanks! Good luck on yours!
Nice job! I've really been enjoying your videos and instagram posts! I would like to try doing a rosette like that but with dyed burled wood. After I saw your posts on IG I was looking for pen blank suppliers near by.
Thanks a lot! I bought pen blanks online, which is an easy option for me since I’m not super close to any woodworking stores. I have more resin ones like in the video from Cross Cut Creations and I have other wooden ones from Bell Forest.
