    So after a few days of use, I did find that the paints are scratching off somewhat easily, so to fully protect my paint job, I ended up spraying on a few coats of clear plastidip over the paint and it's totally protected now! amzn.to/2XMLEGL

    Hey RC Girl!! Quick tip on your compressor! (Maybe somebody's clued you in already, but if not.....)
    You mentioned the stop-cock pressure release on the tank, but if you look on the bottom, there is another air release valve there. That is the one you really should mention to folks! That is the one you need to release after every use (in an appropriate area,) to expell the condensated water that builds up inside the tank itself! This will greatly improve both the machine's longevity and performance, as well as your paint's performance.
    I am a 30+ year remodel carpenter so I've got loads of experience with compressors.
    Hope this helps you and your fans!
    Cheers, and keep 'em wheels down!!

    I've been airbrushing my bodies for almost 2 years now and what I've learned whether it be Faskolor,Wicked/Createx, or Pro-Line paints is to not only wash and scuff the body,but I add an adhesion promoter, and also after my body as cured for about 24 hours I spray a coat of Krylon clear coat. I do one quick misting with it, then wait about an hour and do another coat and so on. Since I've been doing that I haven't had any scratching or chipping from my Pro-Line paints, or my Faskolor and Wicked paints.

      I'm planning on painting my first custom rc body for my rustler. I originally was going to use the paint in the can but now am leaning towards airbrushing it instead. The way I was going to paint it was on the interior of the body and not the outside. Will the paint still scratch if I do it on the inside?

    • @FarmerFpv
      @FarmerFpv 2 роки тому

      @@rukia3219 Yes it will still scratch eventually. All Lexan RC bodies are painted from the inside except for hard-injected molded bodies. Which comes on most crawlers and rock bouncers.

    gravity feed is always better than siphon feed bcs you get more paint delivery with less pressure bcs gravity pulls the paint down int the gun vs high air volume to pull up the paint. Especially for automotive applications, literally all paint related factors can be applied to all applications. paint has a very universal standard. Even the same psi setting for the air brush is the SAME psi setting for a full size automotive professional spray gun.

  • @blue03r6
    @blue03r6 4 роки тому +1

    you can also use the paint brand, createx sold at hobby lobby. I do prefer Faskolor by parma pse which has a ton of colors and is actually less expensive than createx.parmapse.shptron.com/c/faskolor-paint-shop?pp=15 also, a liquid masking is a lot better to prevent bleeding. use many layers of it or it's not easy to peel off in a thin film. also you can back the paint with rustoleum. it will help keep if from scratching off. this is what most of the guys that paint rc shells professionally do.

    masters are a good beginner airbrush. quality wise they are bit meh.. i too started with a masters but felt like i needed more. once you get pro status you might want something a bit more reliable and consistent. iwata and badger airbrushes are top of the line. i personally use a iwata eclipse for my modeling. i do a lot of fine detail, blending and shading with mine.

    Excellent video and well thought out and presented. One thing I would really like to put some emphasis on. Airbrushes is one of the places that money speaks loads. Please buy the best airbrush you can. There are some great Chinese airbrushes but here you definitely get what what you pay for. There are certainly some good Chinese airbrushes but they are the exception. The problem is that so many people just starting out will use one of the bad airbrushes and get really frustrated because they really are harder to brush good with and will give up because of frustration, myself included. Driving a good quality brush is really a great thing to do and you build confidence so much quicker. There are so many great airbrushes on the market right now. If you just really can’t right away spend some time researching the different Chinese brands, I own at least 4 of them, I did finally break down and buy a harder and steenbeck infinity CR+. I am not a snob because I use an H&S. Far from it. I’m a noob that wants to do his best and use the best tools to help achieve that. I still use my Chinese brushes but for any fine detail work I grab my H&S because I don’t have the I same talent to be able to do a killer paint job no matter what I use but need the help of a good tool to get close. I’m sure I’m going to get flamed for saying what I have but it’s just based on my own personal experience.

    if you start with a clear coat then that seals the masking tape and you will not get any colored paint under the mask lines.

    • @blue03r6
      @blue03r6 4 роки тому +1

      what? NO!!! you can't paint the body with clear first! you use masking tape or liquid masking. if you get any bleeding it's because you used the wrong kind of masking tape. I use bob dively liquid masking. which is the best way to do it. but choosing the right masking tape is important. don't be tempted to buy something from home depot. you can spray the paint with rustoleum clear or black once it's painted to seal it. but DO NOT paint the body with clear first.

  • @SanchezOKelly

    If you 'prime' the area with a matte clearcoat - that will prevent some of the bleeding. As the clearcoat will bleed and seal that gap. But since it is clear - you won't notice it.

    I know I'm a bit late to the comments on this video, but I just found your channel. I'm loving the content so far. Keep up the amazing work on the videos and the R/Cs.
    When/if you get more comfortable with airbrushing and decide to upgrade your airbrush, I would recommend the Iwata HP-CS as a great intermediate.
    I recently picked one up to replace my old Iwata Revolution and I'm really loving this new one so far. I use it for everything from hand tooled leather, artwork, and R/C bodies. It's capable of fairly fine detail work and has pretty good coverage for larger areas as well.

    You have done an amazing job on that bodyshell, You'll may want to add some ptf "plumbers tape" to the hose connector on your compressor to help stop any air leaks you may get in the future. When I change tips on my airbrush I use the needle loosely to help keep the nozzle straight when screwing in, Keep up the good work.

    Looks awesome, wish my first one had looked like that! lol
    Just a couple of tips you may find helpful. If you put the pressure up to about 45 psi you can fine tune the airflow easier (on the fly) with the mac valve on the connector. Diluting some cleaner with water and adding enough to cover the bottom of the cleaning pot makes it a doddle to clean. And make sure to drain the compressor tank after each session, otherwise it can rust through :)

    Awesome video, I’ve been wanting to airbrush RC bodies for awhile now. I do airbrush plastic models but doing a RC body is a lot different process in my opinion. A lot of masking tape is used to make your designs and I cannot draw to save my life. I would had loved to had seen more of your masking and drawing. Plus did you pant this RC body on the inside or outside of the body because I’ve been told when painting a RC body you want to paint on the inside to protect the paint and I didn’t hear you say anything about that. But overall you did a awesome job and thank you for sharing this airbrush paint job.

    On the inside, is the texture a bit grainy? I used the same paints and the outside result is good but inside, the surface is grainy

    Very nice for a first paint job. Most people are lucky to get a good solid, one color their first time. 👍
