  • This video will share my first video of many that will illustrate a two camera system where one is mounted on the front and one on the back. This was a 53-mile ride on the Neuse River Trail starting in Wake county Raleigh, NC, and progressing through Johnson County Clayton, NC.

Great new video of a beautiful ride. Your camera skills are really getting better and every ride and video is a new learning experience. Good work. Keep it going. Stay healthy!

That works really well with the rear view in the corner in the upper left, I suppose if I was with the contrary drive countries I would lean to the upper right.

+1 on the 360 cameras - IMHO, more interesting than looking at a fixed view forward.

    Nice, like the rear view.

The joy of rear view ... lol Syncing the rear view to the front view can be chalenging at times.
Then there is the aspect - the rear view needs to be fliped horizontally so that a fence on the right in the front is on the right in the rear view ...
i usually just mute the audio from the rear video and use the audio from only the front view.
that makes it easier to take the front audio “under” when you add your narration in the upper right corner.
when you get it all balanced ... the end result looks great ... getting it balanced is the hard part (but not to hard, it take practice...)
we are going to make a movie producer out of you yet ... lol

I have a GoPro Hero 7 Black, a Session 5 and got an Insta 360. I ordered a Cycliq Fly 6 newest version for dedicated rear camera. Shipping has been delayed. The rear view in your video is great!

Will you let us know when you get the fly 6? If the app works better and over all of you think it’s the best option? Be well

I agree that, at places of interest, you could add in some commentary. Might want to put the commentary in once the ride is over so your voice will be clear. This trail has such lush, green trees and shrubs...just beautiful.

Thanks Sandra, great point. I will keep that in mind for my next video because it’s actually a road ride through residential area in Garner, NC

Have you thought about wearing a body mic while adding your narration? Might make the audio a little clearer. The Neuse river trail looks amazing. Are there any snakes on the trail? My longest ride so far has been about 45 miles.

Jim, I will figure that out because that’s a great point. Do you have any suggestions? Congratulations on your 45 miles.

I’d like to see some on the trike narration while riding. For example like Sylvia Halpern does on her rides.

Yup. Need more story telling along the way, but the GoPros might not be the best for audio when riding. I need to come down and ride that Trail some day.

@@themotivatedrider3840 Sylvia uses an external mic. If you use the GoPro set up you will find it cumbersome at best. The mic adapter is as big as the camera! Most of us have switched to better cameras for the narration parts, as GoPros aren't up to the task for audio.

P.S. ... music is so loud its distorted .... Bring it down by 10db or 15db ... and see if thats not better.

I hope you won't hate me too much for saying this, but I think the rear view is distracting and too small to have enough detail in it. Otherwise, your video is fun to watch. JMHO! :-)

It's what we men do: get carried away with our grown-up toys! I'll bet I'm in the minority in my opinion of the rear camera, but I don't see that view when I'm riding, so I don't need to see it in a riding video. Rock on with your cool rides, man!

In my mind's eye, a lower left-hand corner rear camera PIP placement would be more esthetic (unobtrusive). It would emulate a left-hand side handlebar rear view mirror image.
I have also noticed that your commentary PIP audio volume, in comparison to the rolling camera's, is way lower than ought to be. To the point that, at times, I have to increase the volume to hear you speak clearly. Which, once you stop commentating, leaves the sound track volume blasting away.
Your videos have many good ideas and influences deserving more experimentation, like a GOOD 360-degree camera. For more insights & inspirations, take a look at Sylvia's UA-cam channel, especially her redwood forest episode, ua-cam.com/video/kyn44G-YXOg/v-deo.html (Insta360 One x & drone camera work compilation).

I noticed when a camera is mounted so it's very obvious to drivers, suddenly the number of halfwits trying to run you out of the bike lane drops to almost 0. Without the camera, I'd be run off the road daily (while in the bike lane, still, minding my own business and obeying the road rules to the letter). Anyone else notice a similar trend?

Data, it's funny you should say that because sometime I feel the same way. I did not know if it was me or me just knowing Im recording the ride.

Hello sir. I would love your input on recumbent trike speed. Back in the day I was a road cyclist and love group rides. I’m looking at the ice vtx racing trike but have not been able to find anyone that talks about what type of speed is possible. I live in Florida “flat.” A group ride say you do give or take 25mph is that something a cat 2/3 road cyclist could do on a racing trike? Thank you for any input you can give. Be well

    • @themotivatedrider3840
      @themotivatedrider3840  4 роки тому +1

Sean, what I have noticed about the speed of the recumbent is downhills you tend pick more speed then an upright bike I believe because you have less wind drag. I have never rode an upright for the distances that I have rode my recumbent trike. When I use to ride my upright for more then 10 miles I was so sore I was not motivated to get back on it, so mostly it sat in the garage. What you are going to get with a recumbent is the ability to to ride longer and the desire to want to ride because your body won't be in pain. If I'm riding by myself I can often ride a little faster because the guys I ride with have uprights but they average about 14/15 mph. I can average 16.5/17 mph over 30 plus miles. If you are in the flats I could see you doing 20mph plus and you are going to have ride a lot and find someone who is doing those speeds. I'm not that sure about the Cat 2/3 or the ice vtx. I think what it's going to come down to is how much work you are going to put into getting up to those speeds. Hope this was helpful. I would go for it, and if you can find one used I would start there. Good luck Sean. Let me know how it works out for you. Keep riding!
