I definitely slept on shields for a loooong time. Still don't really rely on them much, but definitely appreciate them in my teams! Baizhu definitely became my favourite shielder pretty quickly 😁
This was so interesting and I learned a lot! As a fairly early game Zhongli-haver I was quite dependent on classic shields in the beginning (didn’t even know there were different types 😅), and so everything else seemed so flimsy. Thank you for highlighting the different types of shields! Also shout-out to ningguang and her crystalise shields when I was fighting the oceanid at a low AR before dendro was introduced. It took a while, but the fact that she could create her own shield while damaging the mimics saved my butt 😂
Layla’s classic shield single-handedly helped me survive abyss 10-3 😂 those cicin mages and their electro attacks were impossible to dodge! *shakes fist* I liked all the deep dives into the different shields, I had no idea some characters even had them 😳
I love any video that gets some Layla features in! Plus, this helped me understand some characters that got benched after being pulled since I didn't understand their defensive capabilities. Wonderful and useful!
Ty ! Shields other than the classical one are a underrated subject and you covered it perfectly ! (Still as an eula main i have to say that she has an interruption res aaand a def bonus so that she feels confortable while doing her burst that you did not mention)
I had no idea about xingqius abilities, but to be fair I haven't really used him althought I know he is a very powerfull and helpfull hydro charachter! I have to say I'm happy to learn most of my knowledge from you cause I have always gotten the best benefit from every charachter and how they are meant to use, and not only beeing there for the dbs charachters. It has made me abbrichiate all of them in their own field :)
I really hope they give Dehya some necessary buff with a new gameplay element that fits to her kit. In general defense and shield are often overlooked and not really that necessary but it gives comfort and makes the game easier to enjoy. Good and detailed summary! 👍🏻😊
The way I needed this video. Defense has always kinda confused me, but you made it all make sense THANK YOU!!! FIRST & I love yooouwuwuwuwuwuwuwuwuwu ❤❤❤
Zhongli is literally so fucking good i used him at lvl 60 with lvl 1 in every talent and didn't even realize until over a year later I was like "I forget what his talent lvls are...." Makes the game so much more manageable if you're lazy about leveling up your characters but still want to do everything.
getting layla changed my life!!!!!! i used to never use a shielder, mostly just because i didn't have one until her! but now i have layla AND zhongli and im gonna become a whole new player 😍☺💖
and that's more than fine! High DPS only really matters in the "end game" content, but even then with the right team comps and build you can (and should!) still squeeze in some defensive methods either in the form of shields or healing! 🥰
Also some characters (I think) have immunity frames when doing some of their bursts and attacks. I can't think of any other example besides Keqings burst rn. Though this isn't really a game mechanic, it still is quite nice when needing to be immune to enemies powerful attacks for a short span of time.
Yeah i-frames are essential for a lot of gameplay - they're kinda separate from the defensive characters though imo! There's also a brief i-frame when you dash, so if you're good at timing then you can survive just by timing those! Super satisfying when you get it right 😁
Yess all bursts contain i-frames during the animation for 5 stars and would-be animation for 4 stars! In certain fight (like say against maguu kenki) where some of the attacks are harder for me to just plan dodge, I specifically save bursts for moments when I want to avoid getting hit hah 😅
see you say abyss is more about dps and I agree but there are some enemies especially in floor 12 that sometimes call for shields and defensive units to keep your main dps alive.
@@saurusness geez, alt accounts! now I feel so inadequate with my single account that I'm so proud of....😆... but yeah, Dehya can be fun on different teams.
@@saurusness oh, and i now call Nuevillettes burst Lake Flaccid...cause we have a lake placid over here across the pond and my corny/gutter of a mind had to share...lol... hoping you have a wonderful weekend...later🫡
@@AlexAnom420 haha I started one specifically to re-experience some of the early parts, and to have *fully* f2p experience both of which helped me when giving advice to newer and fully f2p players 😁 I play the second account very casually when I have the time, 98% of my genshin energy is invested into my main account LOL
well technically they are, as is healing, but both are a little different from reducing/preventing incoming damage. I would really class taunts under "crowd control", which can also be used defensively!

yeha Baizhu and Layla are my faves, Thoma a close third!

Hahaha Oceanid was such a %$£* at low AR pre-dendro when you have like no characters available 💀 ty ning for carrying

I'm so glad people are finding this video helpful 🥰💜

I'm so glad! 🥰 And yes Layla is my ultimate favourite shielder by a mile, my go-to choice 💜

That's a good point! I admittedly don't have eula so I've only ever played measly trial versions of her 😔
As a new player Parrying mechanics sound amazingly fun and I hope a 5* character comes out that truly shows how good it can be

Thank you! 💜 I agree, and I'd love to see similar mechanics in the future too!
Totally unrelated to the topic, but you've picked my favourite tracks from the Fontaine OST. :)
My favourite too! 😁

Yeah he is THE ultimate shielder for sure! I have mine built as a hybrid shielder/sub DPS and nothing will get though that shield 😂

This was something new to me!! It opens so many new possibilities!! 😮😮 Thank you very much for this video, as always very well made and explained!! ❤
Thank you so much! 🥰💜
Shields! I am so glad we're talking about them. I love using shield characters as sometimes I'm a weenie and don't focus on high damage output. 😅

agreed I do often have a shield one at least one side, to help my flimsier characters through 😎
Another awesome video ❤
ty rosie 💜
Great video!
thank you! 💜
Love this series. Keep it up!
Than you! 💜
great video
I have C2 Dehya and I'm still trying to figure her out... rolling and pushing artifacts like weight...😂
I only just got my first Dehya on an alt account, but now I'll finally be able to put her to the test! 😁

I forgot there are so many shielders
I think most people do because they rarely get talked about and zhongli is kind of the "default" in people's minds 😁
I guess taunts are not a defensive utility
We did consider putting them in, but yeah they feel a little bit different! Definitely arguable either way though.
