  • This athlete sustained a trimalleolar fracture close to 6 months ago. She has worked extremely hard throughout her rehabilitation. Her exercises are progressed weekly based on her rapidly improving strength, stability, and endurance.
The exercises shown in this video are great for restoring ankle range of motion (ROM), as well as improving dynamic ankle control.
"Limits of Stability (LoS) are defined as the points at which the center of gravity (CoG) approach's the limits of the base of support (BoS) and a correction strategy is required to return the center of mass (CoM) to within the BoS.” - Huo, F. (1999). Limits of stability and postural sway in young and older people (MSc thesis). Queen's University at Kingston.
Effective and efficient rehab is criterion-based, not time-based.

Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program. STOP exercising if you experience any symptoms of weakness, unsteadiness, light-headedness/dizziness, chest pain or pressure, nausea, or shortness of breath.
Performing these exercises should not cause pain. If you experience pain while exercising, decrease the speed of your movement. If the pain persists - STOP. Mild soreness after exercising may be experienced after beginning a new exercise.

Hi Rob. As the description mentions, she was close to 6 months from her surgery at the time of this video. We all heal and recovery at different rates. Stay patient and consistent with your exercises. Also, make sure you follow a criterion-based rehab system.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your situation. The first thing to do is to find a skilled physical therapist / physiotherapist. They must be skilled with orthopedic rehab and have similar equipment to what we have. Plus, you have to follow a criterion-based rehab system.

No reason to be scared. With patience and proper exercise progressions, the impossible becomes the possible!
