thankxx for posting. brings back wonderful memories of a rotterdam concert in november 2011. sitting in the front row, having a close look at mr. ibrahims hands and his thoughtful way of playing the piano, we felt privileged to be in his near presence. i was so happy to thank him for the music. his reaction was humble, always putting his music ahead
OH HOW I LOVE THIS TUNE OF ABDULLAH IBRAHIM......AND HOW I WOULD LOVE TO WRITE SOME LYRICS TO GO WITH IT.....AND PERFORM WITH THIS LINE UP.......NOW THATS MY DREAM..... LOVELY...
I agree girl, only I a hopeless at singing but I have avery goo ear. If you do get lyrics they should be about a what a brilliant life turned to be after all nor matter what colour we aren and what a fuss we created as we all we love to be loved after all. Good luck.
I adore Abdullah Ibrahim. He is a man who understands beauty, and how to create it. The extended dialogue between he and his bassist is incredible. And the drummer was cool.
The music he writes, is so simple, His arrangements are easy and simple,,,, but every tone he hits, seems to be the right ones, the only ones that could be hit,,, in order to keep it simple. And yet, its some of the "biggest" music Ive ever heard. Less is more. .
@clevermedia just caught the comment, I said I think because Estival I think is a little concert away from Lugano usually held a few days before... but yep that sure looks like Lugano
off 3SAT TV channel (German/Swiss/Austrian) in Europe... recorded it to a crappy video recorder hence why all my videos from that period (late 90s) sound poor.. but better than nothing eh? ;-) I think its the Lugano Jazz fest in 1999, I was there in 2005 so recognise the buildings...
feel the same. also like his duets with Shepp and Dyani and the historical record "confluence" w/Gato Barbieri. his larger bands i find annoying and the music feels watered down

Cape Town Flower - utterly sublime. Easily my favourite ever jazz track. Love the expressive simplicity. Every note means something.
