First of all, congratulations on this new men's podcast. It will be a massive success. We had a men's get-together listening to your show. Something happened that was an eye-opener of how drastically the same narrative that was told to us for decades was something mentioned by you when you said we as men need to find other ways to love outside of our wallet as soon as we all heard that the room was entirely silent.
There we have four ambitious, outspoken men, and as soon as you said outside of our wallet what can we do, I felt that hit us all like a ton of bricks that you can hear a pin drop in the room. After the podcast was over, I could tell that statement was a mind screw to all of us as we have been told as men in our adolescent years to work hard, make money, get a solid career, and be the breadwinner of our family. After what you said, my friends admitted they didn't know how to amass a certain type of woman without showing pride in their achievements.
The first question we get is about our career, so when something has been hammered to us for years, it is like Stockholm syndrome; this is all we know that to soothe a specific type of swag it comes with confidence in our finances, so seeing how you challenged us black men to think outside of our finances is like having us in the therapy of a reset. I love you, April, but myself included, and my friends it is apparent we have been programmed with the same talk: you aren't a man if you are not paying the bills. It's a narrative hammered to us in film, TV, church, school, work settings, and politics, so how do we get away from it? I feel after hearing this, I think I need therapy because it's been told to me for years, so what do we do as a black race if we are being told repeatedly that we must make six figures?

Thank you so much for sharing this heartfelt reflection. Your willingness to be vulnerable and open about the impact of that moment is truly inspiring. It’s conversations like these that help us grow and rethink the narratives we’ve been taught. I’m grateful to be a part of this journey with you and your friends. Stay encouraged; we’re all unlearning and evolving together.❤

You gave friend zone Frank the perfect advice. We do like a man that knows what he wants and goes after it, when he’s well groomed, hygiene on point and smells goood.

1:15:30 what if the man’s perception isn’t what he thinks…let’s say a person is learning, growing, etc. we can’t assume people know all the things. Why hold a person accountable for what can possibly happen versus what is actually happening at that time.
