My hot take is that the SJW "creators" that are at the Cons this year are keeping a low profile because of what they did to Ed. I know some don't care and either deny culpability or are PROUD of what they did but they ALL want to make money.
It will still take a couple years to wash off the dust and debris that will cling to the industry as it crawls out of the crash. The BPC will point at the specks as proof nothing has changed but it is changing. It has changed enough to get someone like me back into the comic shop on a weekly basis after being away for a decade. I see the change and am optimistic about the future of an industry I love.
It's funny that they pose with dogman mascot after getting his book "the adventures of ook and gluk Kung-fu cavemen from the future" banned from publication from scholastic by sjw's. And the dude just walked away from social media at that time. Been like 4 years since he posted anything.
The idea that collectivism is a 'fad' or a 'trend' and not a culturally embedded philosophy that lasted generations is....a simpleton's observation. One NYC con without any annoying books and SJWs are over! Ludicrous. I remember he was never championed as some diversity he just drew good comics. I then started looking for more blacks in comics. Denys Cowan and Dwayne McDuffie were the next ones. I remember buying their books not because they were black but because they were GOOD!

My personal moment (In hind sight) that the era began was when IDW gave James Roberts his own book on Transformers and started making everyone gay, I hadn't picked up a Transformers comic scenes Dreamwave and found out about that and said "I'm not going to check it out now".

Thank you for putting the purchase of marvel by Disney as a step in the downfall of American comics. I think people forget how spiteful Disney got when it came to marvel characters they didn't own in the comics. Separating the Four, making the X-Men into absolute jokes and non factors. Now thanks to some smart guys at marvel comics they knew they couldn't keep doing this for long. So of course they tried to correct themselves, but it just lead to more Disney interference with the introduction of "All new All different". I said it once and ill say it again. NYCC 2024 was a HUGE white pill for fans and the industry. The more people who continue to ignore it will have to just wake up! Were getting some awesome stuff and I'm just happy I'm not the only one who realizes that now.
I'm almost sad we'll never have another Nubia: Real One, Gotham High, and I'm not Starfire.... almost, good riddance. It's like the industry is finally scraping off barnacles that have been stuck to the bottom of a leaky boat.

I'd take this as them trying something "new". If the trend holds another comic-con then it's over, otherwise this might just be a speed bump in their attempts strong arm and suffocate the industry. I hate to be the black pill but there's more work to be done.

It might be a wrap for the North American superhero comic book industry. They have left it in a wreck, hey diven off so many of the fans it maybe hard to get them to return, even if the quality of the books is on the rise. It not just that, it few other things as well, so many IPs are coming into public domain, corperation not seeing any money in the future of print media, or at lest not in the amounts that are worth the investment into it, newer generation interest into other sorts of print media, manga or animie or other forms of media, video games, movies, too many activist using comics for rheir own devices tainting the market, the marketing of comics outside of the direct market, It will take a while before we do not see superhero floppy comics anymore, but I do believe it's time has past as a viable industry,
I don't think public domain is that much of a factor. Golden age characters sure, but how many of them are important enough for people to care? outside of the big three at DC most of the big heroes and villains were reinventions during the silver age, though I'll admit that I don't know much about DC. In Marvel's case though I pretty sure Captain America and the Red skull are the only characters still in use, otherwise it's silver age and later. Plus it's not like every version of Batman, Superman, ect goes right into the public domain all at once, plus trademarks can be used to retain control. IPs going into the public domain isn't this brand killing death sentence that some people think it is (I'm looking at you Razorfist).
I don't know if I'm ready to call it just yet. It's definitely better than it was about 10 years ago, but also I want to see how the election goes and how these people react. We could be in for more mind numbingly bad books.

The last ten years of comics has been dominated by feminine energy, and it was all mean girl politics and gossip and social torture and ZERO interest in the actual work. Not to get all 'look at mah snow white', but this was kind of the Female Age.
I think the crowdfunded documentary She Makes Comics could be on the timeline. It was released in 2014 and apparently won best documentary at the Comic Con International Film Festival in 2015. I watched it a few months ago on Amazon and while I might be one of the few who did, I think it may have served as an effective propaganda video for them within the industry. Simone, De Connick, MacDonald etc are all featured in it and it paints women as being both an essential part of the industry since the start but also victims who have always been shunned, framing moments like the formation of Friends of Lulu as proof there's a huge, untapped market waiting to be catered to -- if only they could see themselves reflected in the pages and be paid for their amateurish, child-like artwork. Friends of Lulu could also be on there as an earlier stage in its evolution, as it seems to have bridged the gap between the hippy and modern era of feminist activism within US comics, with MacDonald being one of its founders.

While I do agree with you, I'd say that the consolidation of the era was, ironically enough, when Vertigo Comics got the axe in 2018.
