  • I bought this E-Bike on Amazon. It's an oraimo Monster 100 and I bought it myself - not a sponsored deal. In this video I talk about how it arrived with a big dent in the box, my call to customer service, and plans to unbox it.
    If you like E-bikes (or bikes of any kind) and are interested in seeing what this bike looks like out of the box - and the helmet and accessories I bought for it, then subscribe to the channel. New videos are on the way!
    Thanks for watching, and if you have any e-Bike questions just put them in the comment section and I'll answer them.

    Thanks very much for the warning Jeff. I've gotten to a point where I will pay more for a higher level and inclusion of customer service. Hope it all works out for you and keep us posted. 👍🏼

      You are so welcome! I didn’t really have any misgivings about buying it on Amazon until I told my friend, and she was truly horrified I took such a risk.
      I must be very trusting, especially since there were many positive reviews on this bike and few horror 🙀 stories.
      I like your preference to just pay up for a higher level and inclusion of customer service. I think it saves time and grief!
      Fortunately, this e-bike was not damaged at all. The box just got a little smushed but no harm done at all and the bike was incredibly well padded inside and the box otherwise protected it from China to my front door…incredible, really!
      Thanks, as always, for tuning in and for your thoughtful comment. Keep your eyes open for a video showing that it all worked out! 😊🌟 🚲 👍🏼

    I bought my first bike by mail about two months ago. Wasn't a good experience. It cost about twice what yours did (not an ebike tho) and the customer service was excellent. Just a goofy situation. I agree with the other comment it's worth paying more and buying from a more reputable place. Calling customer service and dealing with warranty parts eats up my time, which has a dollar value.
    Of course, the bike I ride the most cost more than my daily driver - I insist my priorities are straight lol. Most people regard bikes as toys until they have a chance to integrate them into their lives.
    I wanted to add there is a bit of space in the box so the corner being crunched isn't cause for alarm. But I saw you'd already unboxed and assembled it...when I went to watch the video from my notifications I found it is gone! What!?

      Hey thanks for sharing your story about buying your first bike by mail! The bike you ride the most cost more than your daily driver, haha. Either you have a very expensive bike or your car isn’t too expensive.
      Yeah, you’re absolutely right, there was a bit of space in that box and that’s what got compacted.
      Originally, I had planned to go live with the video about assembling the bike tomorrow. Today in a somewhat sleep-deprived state I went live with it and barely anybody saw it.
      I realized that maybe the title or thumbnail was really bad, so I just deactivated it and plan to upload tomorrow.
      Sorry that you saw it and then went to look for it later it was gone! I will make sure it’s up bright and early tomorrow morning.
      I’ve been out on the bike a few times now and it’s been easy to ride and a lot of fun. Easy acceleration up hills is really nice where I live.

      Oh, hey - it's a 26" my favorite. Bikes really stopped getting better around 2010, instead getting more expensive and pretentious as the cycling community became increasingly...parochial.

      @@loganl.andrew4459 I like that you use that word: parochial! It’s such a good word and few use it so it stands out.
      This bike shipped to me with an adjustable stem. It angles up / down with Allen key and you can get it just as you like. It’s a nice touch, they could have shipped it with a fixed stem.
      Also, they sent a derailleur cage that attaches so you won’t bang it up if the bike falls on its side or side-swipes something: it’s a nice extra.
      This bike is a good value for what you pay. Could I get a better bike for $1,000? Probably. $2,000? Sure. But for what I need if this doesn’t break in any serious way I’m pleased.
      I’ll have that unboxing & assembly video up tomorrow. Sorry it showed up and disappeared today!
      I’m sorry hour bike by mail wasn’t a good experience, by the way. If the customer service was excellent why was the situation goofy? Was the bike not as good as you’d hoped it would be?

      The company I bought from fibbed about the sizing and geometry. The frame is big and the steering too aggressive. They offered to refund me, but something told me the universe wanted me to get out of my comfort zone and try it. It's quality is good so I'm giving it a shot.
      Lol that derailleur cage is to protect it during shipping. You can continue to use it as such, but it's kinda like leaving the tag on new sunglasses.
      IDK why that particular bike comes with knobby tires. Seems to me the demographic would want something more city-oriented, efficient. I guess you'll change them anyway though. I do like how it has a throttle - they should all have that.

    • @animaldonut
      @animaldonut  5 місяців тому

      @@loganl.andrew4459 the funny thing is that the derailer cage was in a bag of parts that came in a box - unattached to the bike.
      So there was absolutely no protection for the derailleur during shipping.
      I like that you’re taking it as the universe wanting you to get out of your comfort zone. Good things always happen. When you’re outside your comfort zone, I have faith it’ll work out well.
      Yeah, I know what you mean about the tires. I don’t intend to keep them very long. The first time I get a flat I’m probably gonna switch over to Schwalbe Marathon tires. I may just buy them earlier and put them on because they ride so much better on city streets than those knobby tires.

    Do not buy this bike. The charger stops working after less than a month and it take them a full month to send you new one with your warranty and they don’t sell chargers in stores nor online. Waste! Facts!

      @animaldonut  4 місяці тому

      Thank you for letting me know. That must be so frustrating to have spent so much for an e-bike you cannot ride nor charge. I hope they send you a new charger soon.

      @@animaldonut No. I’m saying since the original one it came with didn’t even last an entire month, then; how am I’m supposed to expect the replacement to last any longer when I do get it? A month on, a month off of e-bike use? That’s kind of lame and maybe it’s the reason it’s only $600. Other than that it’s a very decent e-bike. For real.

    • @animaldonut
      @animaldonut  4 місяці тому

      @@JohnDoe-jb5ko Hey there, I’m trying to be optimistic because it must be an awful feeling to spend $600 (that’s a lot of dough!) and get a faulty charger. I have to reason to know for sure your replacement will be bad too - on again / off again, etc., but mine is so far doing fine and many Amazon reviewers liked the bike.
      I hope you just got the unlucky lemon and it was one-time situation. I just got back from a ride and this bike is so much better than my prior ebike that cost the same: better gears, shifting, battery capacity, faster, better handling. I hope your new charger is good and your future is “smooth sailing.” I can understand your frustration. Keep positive, this will work out!!
