  • Alright whats going on guys Crimson here. In this video I will be sharing my concepts for a potential rework of Recon Senses and Thermal Vision in The Finals, I think my ideas will have a good benefit to the current meta and change how the game is played!

    The Finals revolves around people competing in a televised virtual combat game show. This is reflected in the holographic crowds which are seen during gameplay, as well as the commentary provided by the game in the form of various hosts making observations about the status of a given team or the game itself. Developer Embark Studios have stated that the game is partly inspired by The Hunger Games and Gladiator
    You’re a contestant in THE FINALS - the ultimate combat entertainment game show. You and your team fight for fame, riches, and the favor of generous seasonal sponsors.
    Fight it out in massively dynamic environments, with complete server-side destruction, interactive physical objects, and more.
    Be who you want to be. Play how you want to play. Deep visual and gameplay customization empowers a wide range of diversity.
    All game modes feature 3 or 4 teams, each competing against each other in a "free-for-all" competition. The players choose their characters based on a "Light", "Medium", "Heavy" scale, with the character model changing to reflect that. Certain weapons, moves, and features are class specific and each class has a different movement speed. Light builds are faster and smaller but are weakened by a much lower health amount. Medium builds are a traditional soldier class, with median speed, size and durability, while Heavy builds are the most durable class, but have limited maneuverability.

    thermal vision as a specialisation actually is a very good idea, i would use it all the time

    I don't think a very situational gadget like thermal vision is enough to be a specialization, even if you were to be able to toggle it at will, and this is coming from someone who has thermal in their primary, default loadout.
    All Light specs aid in their survivability very spontaneously, and even though thermals synergize very well with smoke grenades, the smoke grenades themselves can be very inconsistent (as are thermal vision), and even when it works well, you're needing a gadget to make decent use of a specialization. I agree that toggling on and off thermal is very clunky tho, but i believe the activation delay is important to its balancing, so what i propose is that it should be toggled via pressing the keybind, but retain the delay via a first person animation (something along the lines of bringing a finger up to their head and pressing a button) and not the tablet.
    Just my two-cents, liked the video and looking forward to more ability ideas and discussions.

      Yeah I just want to have a better activation pulling out the tablet so slowly is just annoying even if they can speed that up i wouldnt mind too much
      I think Theyre going to start making specializations a little more broad, especially with the winch claw which technically doesnt align with their “role”
      But for me I think it could get more use potentially
      But I do plan on making similar videos so feel free to show up!

      @@Cr9mson yeah, one of the things that mediums and heavies can get away with is having specializations branching out into other functions because they have more health and their kits are designed around playing close together which means they have substantially more survivability, whereas lights thrive when flanking so they need everything to be self sufficient. Hopefully they give lights a new spec that can keep that while introducing new functions.

    I agree with your recon senses fix but completely disagree with thermal. The fact that its only on light now lowkey ruins the game cause everyone and their mom uses vanish bombs now and if im in a lobby with more than 2 lights the only way to effectively counter invis is with thermal. I think its good the way it is but make it available for medium again so i dont have to run light every lobby.
    Also nerf stun its BS and cheap.

      Well surprisingly stun isn’t really “meta” anymore even though it’s essential to counter winch claw
      But although it sucks that medium classes dont have their recon gadgets it did make them too strong although heavy does have the tracking mine or whatever so that can always help
      Myself personally im working on trying to figure out how to counter cloak
      But my advice is if you hear the sound try to get far away or try to get closer to a teammate since they will either have to run out of time or shoot to try and get you or just run away

      Im assuming you're talking specialization spam but you're neglecting to mention that both Heavies and Mediums have spammable specs as well.
