@e8ook981 I completely and totally rebuilt every prison in the storyline missions, pre-made bundles, and a large portion of the popular prisons on Steam. I took each one, and turned it into a facility where everyone's needs were completely taken care of. Rehabilitation made it so I was making bank and controlling reoffending rates. I rebuilt many facilities from the ground up and kept to the original design of each prison. I also heavily automated each facility to minimize my need for staff. My most successful prisons were ones that I made 16 million dollars from actually running a prison complex rather than running a tree farm or selling power. This was a prison that housed max security inmates too. Fights and disorderly behavior was minimized and offenders were compartmentalized in safe cell blocks where they could not hurt the rest of the population. I've done it all in the game.
There are a bunch of places in the Video where a prisoner is clipping into something else significantly or being visibly too far away. And the prisoners just lining up clipping into the bus at the end seems like such a basic thing.
love looking at new animations that is pretty cool that was one thing i love about PA 1 i don't know how feasible this is but i noticed the cleaners walking around with laundry no doubt over long distances among other floors and upgrade to a laundry trolly or a laundry chute would be pretty nifftiy
wait.. Why i don't see "Death Row" category for prisoners!!!?? max level is "Super max" ?? We can't execute prisoners???? also no "Protective Custody" ??? or is it hidden somewhere??
I wonder if the employees will have needs? I always enable this feature in PA1. It's always interesting to see employees having a snack during breaks and relaxing on the sofa in the staff room.
Hopefully gangs are still in game aswell as flooding and maybe a rival system where if prisoners get in fights they more likely to set it off with the same people
We need the flexibility to construct prisons with different play styles, e.g. from strict authoritarian setups to more humane and rehabilitative approaches. Our choice of prison build shouldn't be restricted by prisoner needs alone; we should be able to manage issues in diverse ways, adjusting amenities and security measures accordingly. The game shouldn't penalize us or hold us back from progressing for deviating from a solely nice guy approach. I think leaning on this will help give this game strong re-playability.
Looks amazing, what would be even cooler if we had cosmetic packs in the future to transform your prisons, I would love to design for example, an old gothic style prison Arkham/West Virginia state penitentiary style
Very much looking forward to this! One thing that baffles me is some of the shots in this video seem quite glitchy. Walls flickering, characters half in walls etc. considering this video series is not just informing people of what the game can do but also sell the game, it’s a bit of an odd inclusion. I’m hoping it’s just from an early build of the game and the finished product won’t be quite so janky.
What about guard's needs? I always found it weird that my guards were on duty 24/7 but never slept or left to go be with any family, what about having off duty guards? It should include all aspects of the game not just the prisoner's needs and enrichment, prisons also have to take care of their staff. I would love for this game to include stuff about the staff as well, what their personalities are, what kind of interactions they'll have based off of the characteristics of themselves and others. Some guards more prone to violence or some more passive. Some of them require more rest or some that can be on shift for 16 hours. Scheduling a certain amount of guards to be at the prison at times would be an interesting concept to add to give complexity of the game. I love the management and having more management on top of managing guards would be a great concept, add some complexity and have some senior guards be able to train newer guards in certain ways, like a senior guard (maybe add some ranks, not just ranks to make it seem like a leveling concept but just to have trainers in the system, a good lieutenant will manage a few sergeants and those sergeants will be better at their job because of how good or bad the lieutenant is, and those sergeants oversee a few guards that can improve their own skills based on the sergeant's experience and abilities) not every guard has to be a sergeant or lieutenant, make a maximum of each rank like 3 lieutenants and 12 sergeants with the rest being guards, some experienced and some inexperienced so that it'll make losing a guard that much worse for the prison (or better if they were bad). Add some depth to the game don't make it like prison architect was when it was starting out. Expand and build off of new systems, i think that it would be an amazing game if you go into depth about guard management and keeping up with everybody. Maybe even make it a toggle-able thing so not everyone has to manage that much
ok got it, no exercise, privacy, freedom, comfort, recreation and reform needs above red. I'll basically be turning out Winstons from 1984. Can't wait for this!
This looks promising. Please - PLEASE - make sure it's as bug free as possible when it releases, have proper QA, and if you're not there yet please just delay the game two or three months, or however long it needs. Regarding QA: have actual mad people QA the game for you, or just instruct the QA team (which is hopefully adequately payed and not overworked) to also try proper big prisons. In the first one I built prisons with 1000 inmates, and normal sized cells for everyone. Often teh problems with bugs after the Paradox takeover only became apparent with bigger prisons.
I must say the game really looks good. But I have a really strong feeling that the "gangs" system isn't going to be in the base game and is going to be locked behind paid dlc. Just a feeling but I can really see it happen sadly...
Hopefully they add so you can reward certain prisoners or certain security classes. I wouldnt want my maximum security prisoners to recieve as much visitation or freedom as my low security prisoners. This was well implemented in the dlc in PA1. Forgot its name though.

Should make dangerous inmates have influence over min and medium inmates. Either being jerks to them or making them more violent by "recruiting" them by becoming friends or joining gangs. But a friendship system would be cool, sort of like a mini-gang version but with friendgroups.
This video will go more in depth, discussing how each need is impacted by prisoner interactions and surroundings, and how players can find value in designing with these needs in mind.
I must say. I wasn't excited at first about this game. The art style was not for me, but these videos have got my ABSOLUTELY excited, and loving the art style. Now I cannot wait to give Paradox more of my money
Honestly the thing I'm most looking forward to is the new animations and other little things which could breathe a fresh life into what was the amazing, but visually lacking PA1
maybe in the future you could add a dlc where you build a prisons like norway, sweden or just like a luxury prison in general like building full on houses for prisoners it will be expensive but prisoners will never riot or do anything
In PA, I've always build "strict but fair" prisons. Inmates always have access to at least snacks machines to spend their money, rehabilitation is the main focus with job training, drug and alcohol rehab, and other experimental therapies... But very efficient cell block designs allowing me to pack essential amenities in as tight a space as possible, security checkpoints with patdowns being required to exit the sources of the most dangerous contraband, scanners to examine every package coming in, armed guards patrol before night to remind inmates that this is still a prison, and all around try to rehabilitate and parole inmates as quickly as possible... Also, I use every tax deduction I can get my hands on, I probably overcharge my inmates for snacks, cup noodles, scented soaps, and "reading" materials, I make sure to let visitors give some cash to their loved ones so they'll spend it in the prison for more profit, only allow the commissary and snacks machines as a source of luxuries, diversify my income by dedicating a small plot of land to generating green power to jump on that bandwagon for profit, and run a profitable logging and farming side hustle to bring in the funding. I'll cheat on everything *BUT* proper inmates care and rehabilitation and proper working conditions for staff in the name of profit, but the actual people in my prison? I won't spare any expense to keep *all* of them safe and healthy.
Hm, I haven't played PA1 in a few months, but I remembered the needs as being part of a moral tradeoff. As a director, you could run a prison that didn't cater to a number of needs if you were authoritarian enough ; similarly, being too generous had its drawbacks (providing more ways to escape usually). I was surprised and disappointed to hear in this video how that grey morality has seemingly disappeared. More guards make prisoners happy ? It's something I expect from any management simulation except Prison Architect. All prisons will end up being run exactly the same way, no ? Actually are there different wardens in the sequel ?
Will we get more items to put in cells and common areas? Will steam workshop be allowed so we can customize games magically!? Thank you for your work I'm most definitely buying this when it's out
Looks so amazing! Thank you for these videos. I do have a question. Can you make a video on how min, med, max, and super interact with each other and what you do to either combine them or separate them? Do they eat or shower at separate times? Same with outside time. Would love clarification.
YES!!!!! YEEEES!!!! I'm so happy! I will 100% be getting this! It doesnt quite have the charm the first one had, if you was gonna make it 3D' i'd of preferred a different character model but still!!!
so this video brings me two questions.. i saw there was a open visiting room, and those talking behind glas.. is there any difference? or more what you as a player prefare? like.. do petty feft go for face to face.. while murderers go for glad with phone?. and also, is there solidary confindment specialised areas for people who droped the soap or started fights?.. or you just have to imagine and build as you go. And as a extra question that just poped into my head!! Do some of them have release dates?.. and some Life withour parole? XD
2 questions the first is with the tattoos of various designs such as the playing card and snake does that indicate different gang factions and 2 will it become easier to get death row inmates
Double Eleven + Paradox ? I'm not holding my breath, they probably already have the first 10 overpriced DLCs planned, with important features (planned since day 1) locked behind paywall. Or maybe they will do the same as some DLCs of PA1 : copy a free community-mod, worsen it and ask for 9.99$ for it. XD
Looks good, one thing I’ve noticed and it’s bugging me like hell, on some doors the locks/handles are on the wrong side (the side closest to the hinges) will that be fixed before release?
Hmmm. This is a bit too much like a sim. This is still a Prison Simulator. Basic needs maybe, but the rest I think should be able to be supressed. They are in prison, not in there for luxuries. Maybe, luxuries could be a reward for good behavior, work, or education.
56 Days Till Prison Architect 2 Releases... idk if i can survive that long... the news from arichitect 2 prison is like a bomb in the community.... i don't have many creativity left... and my stock of fun is empty... i hope to survive
i feel like prisoners get too mad at hygiene in pa1 i mean it's crazy how redditors can last years without showering but prisoners not showering for a day could lead to a full on riot
All of this seems to be about giving the prisoners more and more luxuries and amenities. Is there no method of ignoring needs? Obviously it's proven it will lead to bad reoffending rates and such, but the prison should also be an actual punishment as well, as it should be up to the architect on how much they want to cater to needs, and how much they want to just enforce order. This worked somewhat well in PA1 but never really could've been a long-term strategy because prisoners didn't learn from their mistakes. No matter how many times they'd fail and get locked up in solitary if their needs weren't met they'd probably go right back to rioting. Anybody else like making dystopian prisons?
It looks like there will be more ability to enfroece order through the security tree. I saw things like guard walkways over open areas and such. Also the safety system could be worked into a suppresion system so that as the safety is higher they will actup less no matter other needs.
But who built this prison?! There is a floor lamp in the playroom, showers in the rest room, a blackboard in the classroom (ok, that's fine). Give us access to the game so we can build a real prison :D
I hope mapping is better In the 1st game I had like 15 exercise benches across my yards and like 4 hours of free time But they wouldn't use any And it kept saying their exercise need was not fulfilled
Would be a great thing for max security a variaty of metal or masonry objects sets that are hard fixed to walls and ground like book shelves not made from wood what would be shank material for really bad prisioners.
Yk, you really rubbed most of the community of PA1 the wrong way, you guys probably censor comments here. But whatever. Y'all legit took criticism, and called everyone who dared criticized you bigots. And then made the most childish responds. Calling criticism and I quote "Personalized harassment, verbal attacks and hate speech." Personalized attacks? Not cool, doubt anyone actually did it though. And DUH criticism is quite literally a verbal attack against you, its criticizing you. And hate speech??? All I saw where angry PA1 fans saying y'all sucked for leaving PA1 in a terrible state. I really don't like wishing products flop, but you have treated the community so poorly, and have refused to listen to any feedback. As you clearly don't care about it. You guys genially do not care about how PA2 turns out, if you cared you would've fixed PA1 and made it a enjoyable experience to play. But instead leave it in its unpolished state. For a new cashgrab. Truly some of the more greedy people. Also seriously. Fire whoever is running your steam page, they are making the community furious.
⚠️ Please note: The visuals and gameplay footage showcased in this video are from earlier development phases and may not accurately reflect the final game. Anticipate improvements in quality upon release.
i sure hope theres more features coming before the release, because if you take away the 3d-feature you barely have any innovation so far - i dont mean to troll or anything, just trying to objectively judge if there's anything else interesting besides it being 3d now and so far, not so much :(
Is this game going to be available on the original Xbox one (not the X/S), or are we going to get screwed over out of another game that can run perfectly fine on the OG X1?

And as a extra question that just poped into my head!! Do some of them have release dates?.. and some Life withour parole? XD
I can’t wait for this to hit the ps5!
2 questions the first is with the tattoos of various designs such as the playing card and snake does that indicate different gang factions and 2 will it become easier to get death row inmates
and in this part of the game there will be non-lethal weapons other than a shocker?
Let's hope PA2 won't turn out to be another CS2 where it was announced and released far to early
Will inmates clipping in objects (like in the bus) be a thing or will that be fixed?
Hello, would a panopticon styled prison work? How do prisoners detect guards?
Double Eleven + Paradox ?
I'm not holding my breath, they probably already have the first 10 overpriced DLCs planned, with important features (planned since day 1) locked behind paywall.
Or maybe they will do the same as some DLCs of PA1 : copy a free community-mod, worsen it and ask for 9.99$ for it. XD
Will there be executions in this game as in the first?
Bug report 6:26 There is gap in walls models between floors that you can see through.
If you need tester I'd love to help.
Looks good, one thing I’ve noticed and it’s bugging me like hell, on some doors the locks/handles are on the wrong side (the side closest to the hinges) will that be fixed before release?
This footage is from an older build. Many things have been fixed
I've gotten so excited about CS:2 after the videos from content creators and CO. It looks nice but I'll never pre-order a game from them again.
Blood and supermax confirmed.
Cool.
Would be great to feed prisoners without canteen. Use staff or another prisoners for deliver food to sells.
Why no drains and flooding system?
Hmmm. This is a bit too much like a sim. This is still a Prison Simulator. Basic needs maybe, but the rest I think should be able to be supressed. They are in prison, not in there for luxuries. Maybe, luxuries could be a reward for good behavior, work, or education.
I don't know, my prisoners in PA1 seemed pretty enriched being in permanent lock down in a massive holding cell with no lights
56 Days Till Prison Architect 2 Releases...
idk if i can survive that long... the news from arichitect 2 prison is like a bomb in the community.... i don't have many creativity left... and my stock of fun is empty... i hope to survive
i feel like prisoners get too mad at hygiene in pa1
i mean it's crazy how redditors can last years without showering
but prisoners not showering for a day could lead to a full on riot
Will PA1 DLC such as gangs and mentally insane be included at PA2 launch? I hope so but I expect not
No drains for the showers?
I hope mapping is better
In the 1st game I had like 15 exercise benches across my yards and like 4 hours of free time
But they wouldn't use any
And it kept saying their exercise need was not fulfilled
Does the connections tab include family? It would be cool to have brothers or father and son in a prison together
Would be a great thing for max security a variaty of metal or masonry objects sets that are hard fixed to walls and ground like book shelves not made from wood what would be shank material for really bad prisioners.
Looks great so far. I hope the launch goes better than CS2
Cant wait for this games 327 broken DLCs!
Any idea if there will be any form of multiplayer? It’d be cool breaking out of a 3D prison with some friends on communication 😂
why does it feels like stuttering / slow? animations in general look so low speed, is the speed so slow or game performance low or what is it?
⚠️ Please note: The visuals and gameplay footage showcased in this video are from earlier development phases and may not accurately reflect the final game. Anticipate improvements in quality upon release.
This at my Birthday...no way.
have a feeling this is going to be a botched release like cities skylines 2
I don’t care if it’s dlc but please have death row
I hope there are good landscaping options in this game. I was always a little disappointed with PA1 options.
If you take a look at our Dev Diary from last week you’ll see some of the options pdxint.at/PA2fh2
Ay yo! Let my boy Deku out! He won't survive a day in there! @0:47
Is this going to be available on PlayStation? If so when is the release date?
Should be out on all platforms as far as I know, they released PA1 on console, and Paradox puts some of their games on console.
Yep and next month the 26st pa2 will be released
i sure hope theres more features coming before the release, because if you take away the 3d-feature you barely have any innovation so far - i dont mean to troll or anything, just trying to objectively judge if there's anything else interesting besides it being 3d now and so far, not so much :(
Is this game going to be available on the original Xbox one (not the X/S), or are we going to get screwed over out of another game that can run perfectly fine on the OG X1?
They removed protective custody from the game??
Will there be a beta for this? Or a Demo? This game looks like an incredible upgrade from the first one. I bought the first game on multiple platforms and will be supporting this sequel the same way. NICE JOB
