- Learn how to pronounce /ð/ vs /d/. The voiced TH sound can be difficult for English learners, so this video teaches you how to pronounce it and compared it to /d/.
My page focuses on teaching RP and Modern RP (British English), but as I'm from the north of England I also teach some aspects of Northern English (Yorkshire) too! 😁
Should I make a video about any other sounds? 🤔
The difference between the vowel sounds in the following words: bird and up
Sure thing!
I would be much obliged to you, madam. You are a blessing. May God bless your world.
Yes, about the other "th" sound. Thank you
@@noman101 Do you mean the I like in 'sit', 'pit', etc.? I was thinking of doing a video comparing it to /i:/ like in 'sit and seat'. Like this?
I taught my students the unvoiced th sound last week. I told them to practise the word 'think' at home, so the words with this sound in the middle or end can get easier. I was glad to see them being able to pronounce it, and telling their parents and everyone in school about it.
I can relate! I recently taught my student the voiceless 'th' too, and I am happy to see him nail the sound! I am teaching him the British RP accent.
OK I pass.lol can't do that when eating..
This girl is amazing! I was looking for someone with a nice tone of voice, who articulated the words and was clear, her accent and her pronunciation are really understandable, she also has the right speed........ and she's beautiful too!
Just marry her

Capital ‘G’ for God pls 🙏
OH MY GOD. Native speaker, could never fully grasp it. THANK YOU 🎉🎉🎉
Hello! Emma, i always watch your videos and i enjoy this too much❤❤
Amazing your way to teach. Congratulations, Emma! Helps a lot.
Native English speaker and I've never been able to say thanks properly my whole life
After this comment i am thinking about that learn pronounce like this is a waist of time, I mean if everyone are goin to understand me.
I can't hear the difference betwen the sounds when natives are talking in natural speed and in addition i felt throat ache after some time practcing the correct pronounce.
oh really? I am Brazilian and the English language is not my mother language and I have always thought the TH sound was very easy.
@@GladsondosSantosValente-nw1rx Th sounds aren't hard to pronounce, alone by the way, but with combinations with certain consonants and vowels are almost impossible to say. Like the word Earth, in British English is not hard to say, but try pronounce with the r sound, like in American English, I believe is almost impossible. Most people will say Earth, without th sound, only with normal f, like in words fuck and phoenix.
You are all energy! God bless you.
❤...this is great, Emma❤...first time I meet You...great... please keep on teaching us sounds!!!❤❤❤❤❤
You speak so fast for me to follow you. anyway your pronounciation is so fantastic to me.
Welcome back dear teacher ⚘️⚘️ I hope everything is going well and moving to Spain wasn't tiresome for you.
Thank you! Apart from the occasional sunburn and paperwork here, everything is great 😅
in that classic scene where walter white says "i am the danger", he kind of says like "i am *vthe* danger"
💯 thanks for your lessons. Hugs from Rio de janeiro Brazil

Thankyou so much mam youre the gret teacher teaching
"I'm learning English and I'm facing such issues. In Persian language, we don't have the 'th' sound basically, and the 'r' sound we pronounce is much different than English speakers. Furthermore, the sound of speech is another difference. In English, the tone has highs and lows, but in Persian, it's mostly flat."
your teaching style is excellent, just like you. from Bangladesh I am looking forward to watching your video. I am greatful to you. go ahead. thank you so much.

This is the first time I've ever fallen in love not only with the British accent but also with a shining teacher like you, Emma!
I wonder why you, the Britains, don't fight for your English vs the the American accent though we know the British English is the root.
I love ❤️ the way you pronounce 🤗👍👏❤️🌹
Very nice sister
Thank you so much! This helped me for multiple reasons and my sister complains that I say “Fank you” 💀

Ngolo kante💀🤨
@@nick72486they’re different, but i agree that they sound really similar if you don’t listen closely
Emma, you learned ALL these pieces of clue at School or in the University. Which course do we learn English grammar to teach English, in England? At a Language course, for those who ARE going to learn English as a Second language or when a foreigner Goes to the University (some1 who Goes to Cambridge, for example, to studying English [and Literature]) or you Native ones must take Cambridge TKT/ CELTA/DELTA? I don't know whether my questions ARE confused, but That's my doubt. Thnx. Ricardo.
Time to knowledge ratio is superb.
Thank you , i really appreciated your tips . My husband says i say "sank you" instead of thank you!.. i have been practiced the correct pronunciation for a while, but when i am in a hurry i pronounce it wrong again. We dont have the th sound in spanish. .. the worst part is that i have been living in an english speaking country for 15 years. It is disappointing 😢..
It depends on the area of Spain you are from. In many areas the th sound is the same as in words like cero, zorro, cerveza, etc. But if you're from Andalucía, then you'll no doubt use the s :)
I like your teaching way
Wtf, thhhhank you very much, it really helps!!!
Emma - you rock.
Awesome ❤!
Thank you sister!
Teacher I lived in Jamaica and they pronounce the normal t without these symbols that you mentioned and that's why I had a hard time understanding them when they spoke
intelligent teacher . I am really into you.
I like your pronunciation very much
That's great 👍
Love you teacher 😘

Du bist sehr wunderschon frau 😊
Well it is the Best for make someone laugh 😂
haha same like pronouncing 'dzal' or 'tsa' sound in Arab alphabet.the easy way to remember it 😂❤
Really helpful thanks
Thank you ❤
I can pronounce "th" sound but I just want to ask something, when I want to say "this, that and those" I begin with "th" but do I have to use "th" if I want to say "the"? Because it's really hard when I say a sentence with a lot of "th" sounds, and I can't pronounce all of them.
If you want to say it correctly, then yes. But saying "duh" instead of "the" isn't going to cause any significant language barriers.
@@Pronunciationwithemma oh tysm! It was really bugging me recently so I'm really happy that I've got an answer! Ty again!
Hi everyone 😢 Saludos desde Lima - Perú 🇵🇪 😉 👍
Beautiful
Thank you and I love u
Very good 💕💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
Well done ❤❤❤
Does it sound significantly different if I pronounce "z" instead of "th"? As a French speaker, it seems almost identical to me.
Yes it does. It sounds very typically French if you do that
Thanks
Well I learn English and I’m kinda scared to pronounce “th” because it’s making me think that my teeth with move forward due to it.
Could that possibly happen?
I am indian Love you 💕
❤We can compare some sounds and words to the corners of a road.
That's why drivers can't make sudden turns
and that's why we have to replace these letters and sounds with other letters and sounds
this way they lose their original pronunciation
So actually these pronunciations are not always valid❤
Nice, looks great,,
Omg omg I never heard of that before, thanks Emma for helping us to fix it,
Beautiful❤
Interesting the lesson
Wow my gorgeous queen 👑💞😘😘
This sound is in arabic but in the egyption accents we just say it as a z so can I pronunce it as a z or this would be weird
There's some tricky consonants clusters with ⟨th⟩, like /tθ/ and /θr/ (as someone mentioned below). I remember pronouncing the latter with an alveolar flap [ɾ̥] instead of an approximant [ɹ] and having to learn it again because of that, just to realize some time later that there are some speakers who pronounce it like I used to. 😅
❤❤❤❤❤ a "special" Thank You!❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
People watch her because she's beautiful
Hopefully they watch because I give valuable content for free
Thanks good system😊
Okay thank you ❤
Omg, why I can't do that. I'm broken 😂
