I know this video was posted two years ago but I am seeing that Apologia has added a new unit for elementary science. I'm trying to decide how I want to pace it out. I asked Apologia if I should start a unit in Pre-K and they said I should not. They said I could opt not to do a unit, or push it into middle school and do physical science in High school. They said I could also do one book a semester when they get older. I was hoping to get your recommendation. If you combined two units into one year, what units would you combine?
Hi Elizabeth, this is Michaela replying. I would not recommend two units in the same year. Also, if you're planning to start Apologia with a young child, I would encourage you to wait until you've finished one whole school year with the curriculum, before deciding if you want to use it for many years to come. So much can change and I find it's best to plan by topic, not by curriculum. (for example: I know I want to study Insects this semester, then Oceans in the fall, then Human Body, etc etc but I will wait to decide which exact curriculum I buy, until we are closer to starting).
Great explanation, what is your take on for two boys 6th grader and 7th grader who are in the process of being transitioned to home schooling and for science at their Charter school currently they are already learning chemistry. What would you recommend for them with this curriculum for Science? New home school mom here trying to learn
I would honestly not suggest starting Apologia at this point in the year. I would check out Christian Kids Explore Chemistry Curriculum. Apologia does have a chemistry curriculum but I have not seen it in real life (only online) and have heard it's heavy.
