    I just bought my first Subaru after researching for months. I love it. The features are incredible. It drives so smoothly. Great audio system. The windows are huge. The safety features are amazing. Plus, the sales agent was great. He was honest and wasn't trying to rush me into any quick decisions. I'm so satisfied.

      Thanks for commenting about the mic. Hearing myself through the T.V. This morning definitely sounds strange to me, but less wind noise will be good on the days I wear it!

    I just bought one, and I deliberately bought this one instead of ordering a 2025. I don't like the 11 inch screen on the 2025. I prefer the multiple displays in the 2024-- one 8-inch display, one on the dash, and one up high in the middle, and you can put different information in all 3. I got the Touring with all of the options they sell, especially the illuminated footwells, LED light upgrade, trailer hitch and wiring harness, electrochromatic rear view and side view mirrors with the garage door openers, and I even added the black side door molding to protect from door dings (which is actually designed for the Wilderness, but I made them put it on anyway). It is cascade green silica, with the black and tan interior. I think it looks gorgeous. My wife think it looks like an avocado now, especially with the black thick door molding, but that's OK it's not her car anyway. Plus she eats like 6 avocados a day, so she loves avocados.

      @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 so there is a side molding (door cladding J101SSJ900) that I added to my Forrester touring. It is designed for the wilderness trim, but I had them put it on my car anyway. The paint is a cascade green silica. However, with the fat rough and tumble, black door cladding installed, it kind of makes my car look like an avocado. My wife won’t leave me alone about it.

      Actually the big screen is great you would love it and it looks better. People don’t give it a chance. Also 2025 has so many new features and it looks great. Much more quiet and all the little things like 360 camera, everything wireless, more safety and so many more. It will be great 😅

      I bought the 2024 white touring Forester with the brown seats. I love it so much. It rides beautifully. I like this year's shape compared to next year's and I like having the knobs over the bigger screen. This car is such a pleasure to drive.

    I still want the Subaru Forester Wilderness...the heck with that touring stuff LOL. The Wilderness is very well equipped, as is the bare base model....if anyone has any complaints about how today's vehicles are equipped...you are more than welcome to daily drive my 1987 Ford Ranger for a day and get back to me on today's base model vehicle standard features LOL.

    Ok, so I was driving a Prius, and wanted something slightly taller for easier entry and exit, with a comfy back seat for friends and family. I'm 6'2, 260#. Started out WANTING a Lexus RX. Turned out I couldn't afford even a 3 year old used one. Then assumed I'd buy a RAV4. RAV4 and Venza ended up to feel a bit small inside. I briefly looked at the Acura RDX. Very nice, but felt small again for the money. Loved the look of the Crosstrek! Similar size to the Prius, but with good ground clearance and AWD... Again, a little too small. Wanted to love the Forester... Awesome sunroof! Taller doors, seemed more spacious, but felt narrow, and I couldn't get comfortable in the seats. Sat in an Outback.... Ooohhhhh yeah.... It's perfect. Great space up front, comfy seats, big back seats, huge cargo area, quiet, smoooooth... It's kind of like that Lexus I originally wanted, but it's less expensive, not quite as quiet... But seems like the perfect balance of size, comfort, refinement, and capability. Thanks, Subaru!

      Great write up! Thanks for sharing your experiences with each of those vehicles you tested! The Crosstrek is very well sized and I miss that part about when I owned one. But I really like the Outback I have but also these Foresters. They make such great use of their room.

    Nice review! I just bought my wife the 2024 Touring (red). I have a Tesla model 3 and was strongly considering the Tesla Y long range as our SUV for road trips but she is more an "analog" person. (btw, they're giving away the model y, especially in NJ with no sale tax on evs). We were considering a hybrid suv but they seem overpriced for what they are (especially the Rav4 prime). This was the 8th Subbie in our family so we certainly know their reputation and we have an excellent dealership here in Bergen County. Reliability and fair maintenance prices are very important. 0-60? It's no Tesla but I'm cool with that. Not going to the racetrack, just the parks and maybe a little gravel trail occasionally. The touring is beautiful inside (brown saddle leather). It feels so spacious inside. Nicer than the RAV4 interior. Got 1.9% financing 4 years. My only complaint is the dealers add a lot of fluff to mark up the msrp. (those 2 emergency kits are a joke). Plastic license plate holders marked way up. But, they were pretty good on price in the end. (Liberty subaru Emerson, NJ)

    Great review!! I do love the Forester. However, the Outback in my opinion is Subaru’s best vehicle! Cannot wait for the redesign for 2025. I am hoping it will get 360 degree cameras and a panoramic sunroof!

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 6 місяців тому +1

      The Forester is smaller, kind of leaning towards it myself in the Wilderness
      trim. The Outback has been around much longer than the Forester, which is why its one of the top sellers....its more of a wagon type vehicle, with more cargo room. I don't need a bunch of room I don't really haul people around, so the Forester I think suits my needs more, even if I need to haul something bulky I can always fold the back seats down.
      Not a fan of all the touch screen stuff or the sunroof...they leak.

    I purchased a new 2024 Forester Touring last December. Mine is Cascade Green with Brown/Black leather. I like the car pretty well. The Carpeted Floor mats are ok and Subaru Floor mats are not good quality IMO. Useless if you live in Snow Country. I gave mine away and installed Weather Tech liners. My Forester came with the Subaru 2" Trailer Hitch, Subaru Mud Flaps, The cool door light that shines on the ground, Forester threshold Trim, Body Side Molding. Other features added : Dash Mat and a Colgan Car Bra, Primitive Racing 3/16 Aluminum front skid plate.
    Imo I think you gave a decent video assessment of the car. This is my 4th owned Subaru.

    Thanks for the excellent reviews on the Subaru line. Before I get into my purchase, I just thought you might want to know that the new Microphone does sound tinny in comparison to your other reviews. Not sure if it's a quality issue, but it's what I experienced when listening. I recently purchased the Subaru Forester touring 2024 in the white color which is a pearl finish with the Saddle Brown and Black Napa Leather. It's a fantastic look overall. What I appreciate about the Forester is ease of access and exit. The controls are well thought out and the 8" infotainment screen is just the right size with the traditional knobs for the environmental control. I also prefer the toggle switch's for the heated seats. This is a very comfortable vehicle with quality materials throughout. The ride is excellent and absorbs the rough road surfaces with no harsh feel in the cabin. Love the Harmon Kardon sound system. Since this is the last model year of this generation removing the CD player while not a deal breaker is still a feature that should have been left in place. I pulled the trigger early on this purchase, as this is going to be my retirement vehicle and wanted this generation and not the newest edition that will have the larger screen. Overall, for the money there is much value in the Subaru Forester. I can highly recommend as well.

    I'm glad I got a 2023 Forester because love the CD player. Some of the more simple things of the car is practically why I bought it it's a base model so there are times I wish I had the power liftgate but my last car didn't have one so it's not that big of a deal. And I just like the fact that it has a screw on gas cap. I know the capless systems have been proven to be Fairly reliable but moving gas cap if a seal on a gas cap starts causing codes you can just buy another gas cap and put it on. I recently found out you can shut off let's start up needle dance if you want. I believe it's called initial gauge startup.

    Some videos complain about the lack of power of the boxer engine without the turbo option that is on the Forrester. However, because it is connected to the continuously variable transmission, I find that the torque is always available and right under your foot. This makes it feel like it has plenty of power. Obviously, I did not buy the Forrester so I could race people off the light. In fact, I don’t think I have ever exceeded the speed limit in my life. However, it feels like it has plenty of power for passing, and plenty of torque under foot to get out of trouble

    My only criticism of the car featured in the video is they obviously forgot to paint it LOL. I had a choice between a white car and the avocado I have, and I picked the avocado one because at least it's painted. I never understood what possesses people to buy a white car. In the desert, they say "oh but it's cooler." Yeah maybe one degree cooler but it looks silly. Great videos by the way! I don't know if Subaru does, but most other automakers charge more for certain paint colors.
      I had a White Jeep, it was covered in mud more than it was white anyhow LOL. Buy a can of gloss white spray paint for touchup paint...$7 a can at your hardware store....good luck matching those other odd colors LOL.
      IDK, I kind of like the blue they offer in the Forester Wilderness....the orange accents and the blue really look good. Otherwise I'd just stick with white, colors for vehicles really aren't all that important to me...although my 99 F250 SD is kind of a light tan color, makes it harder to see when its dirty I guess HAHA!!

    We bought the exact car at the end of 2023. We love it! We debated between the touring and wilderness but ended up with the touring because we needed the car to take trips from Virginia to upstate New York. I do wish the turbo was available but maybe we'll see one down the road. Did you like the tires? I thought they skimped on the tires, we will replace with something better next year.

      That’s awesome, these Foresters are such good vehicles to drive! I’ve even said before that if the Forester offered the FA24 turbo engine then I probably would have picked that over the Outback. I think you’re right about the tires. 8/32 tread depth brand new is sad. That’s what my Geolanders have at 34k miles, lol. I haven’t driven this Forester in snow, but I’d imagine the Falkens will be better than the Bridgestones that come on the Base Forester in that snow driving video. Good morning Bud,
    I like your new microphone.
    Thanks for the review on the last year of the Forester.
    My Forester is still in the shop. In the last 7 weeks, it’s only been in my possession for 10 days.
    So when I get it back, I’ll be selling it and start looking around for a used low mileage Tacoma 4WD double cab with a 6’ bed.
    After I buy the Tacoma, I’ll be selling my now 13 year old Ford Ranger XLT super cab 4WD. It has only 36K miles and with the custom 2 tone paint, custom upholstery, custom wheels, LineX spray in bed liner, tonneau cover, running boards, dash cover, K&N intake, 3” FlowMaster exhaust system, limited slip differential, tow pkg, etc.
    I’ve got about 15K miles on the Cooper Discoverer A/T tires.
    I’ll be asking $28K.
    Without all of the custom stuff, it still books out for $23K.
    I’ll be asking $32K for my 19 Forester Touring . It has only 15K miles. It’s Sephia Bronze with saddle Brown leather interior, Weather Tech floor liners, the entire front clip has the clear plastic anti chip film, the Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires have 13K miles on them.
    Both the Ranger and the Forester have custom pinstripes.
    With the left over money I’ll put into a CD to let it draw interest.
    I think that will be better for my wife and myself.
    That way, we’ll be down to 2 vehicles instead of 3. We won’t have to pay insurance on the 3rd , which is the Ford.
    What is your opinion about that?
    Enjoy your day Bud !

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  6 місяців тому

      Thanks for commenting to that!
      I think that sounds like a good plan, especially with these last few months of disappointments in your Subaru. I hope the vehicle sales and finding the right Tacoma for you is a smooth process. Are you thinking a 2nd gen 4.0 V6 or a 3rd gen with the 3.5?

    • @Doc1855
      @Doc1855 6 місяців тому

      @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I’m not really sure.
      Consumer Reports says that the 4.0L in the 2014 & 2015 were the most reliable and best in customer satisfaction.
      Whereas the 3.5L is more reliable and has more customer satisfaction in the 2020.
      I loved the 3.5L in my RAV, but I hear they’re kinda sluggish in the Tacoma because of the added weight of the truck.
      The 4.0L is the same engine as is in the 4Runner, so it’s a 500,000+ mile engine, whereas the 3.5L may reach 300,000.
      I don’t know the horsepower or torque difference between the 4.0L and the 3.5L so I’ll have to do some research.
      There’s nothing wrong with our Ranger but the Tacoma will last longer with fewer repairs and the Tacoma sits up higher.
      I’m finding it very hard to get a 6’ bed in the Tacoma.
      Our Ford is mainly used for work around our property and that extra foot of length comes in handy.
      I’d like to go with a double cab instead of the Xtra (access) cab.
      Our 118# chocolate lab is a good traveler so it’ll be easier for him to be in the double cab with our luggage when traveling. I think the Access Cab would be too tight.
      As you know we Hate gloomy grey and boring black, but everyone seems to have a hard-on for those depressing colors.
      I could always have Katzkin make leather seat covers in a different color, but I’d have to integrate black or grey somehow with seat color design.
      The custom upholstery in our Ranger is Red with black trim and stitching to match with the custom 2 tone paint, (Silver over Red metallic).
      If the truck is White or Silver , I’ll have it 2 toned in Red metallic like I had done with my Ranger.
      I’ve gotten a LOT of compliments on the Ford because it’s different.
      In the late 70s the popular color scheme was Silver with Red interior, so it’s a throwback color scheme.
      Everyone who has a 2 toned pickup nowadays, if the truck is Silver it’s always 2 toned in Grey or Black.

      Both are great trucks, I owned one of each generation but I had specifically ordered the 2.7 4 cylinder with the 5 speed manual each time.
      The 4.0 is very solid and has more low end torque, but only a 5 speed and so worse MPG. Also is gonna feel very expensive for a 10 year old truck. But I love them, especially the 2012+ face lift.
      The 3.5 gets better MPG but might not feel quite as torque, although I do think they feel good enough. They have a 6 speed but it has to rev higher for its power unless you push the “ECT” power button. The price for value probably feels better in the 3rd gen, just because the second gen’s are so pricy haha. And 3rd gen is probably safer and LED headlights depending on trim. But I like the 2nd gen a lot. 🤷‍♂️😂

    Heated steering wheel in that Touring trim too (option package on Limited). I was curious if you have driven any of the '24 non-Wilderness trims in close time proximity to the Wilderness. I drove the Limited (on same day as Outback and Outback XT). A week later, I drove a handful of Mazda CX-5's (turbo and non), then popped back to Subaru to drive a Wilderness Forester. The Forester, besides feeling cavernous, felt a bit truck-like and I swear it felt like I had a bit of a crosswind (even though there wasn't one). IT SEEMED like the steering was a bit more numb on the Wilderness than on the Limited. However, I wasn't sure if that was just because I'd come almost directly out of a CX-5 (the sports car of this size Japanese SUV's), or if the Wilderness drives differently enough to notice. My "seat" memory of the Limited was that it handled responsively with a firm suspension. Felt like I could "slice and dice" 4-lane arterials. (Turns out that the 45-65 time on a Forester is quicker than the 45-65 on the Turbo CX-50, and only a few tenths behind the Outback XT). Any thoughts on this? Does your Outback have lower seat cushions that extend?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  6 місяців тому

      Personally all the Forester trim levels feel very similar to me. The CX-5’s definitely feel much more sharp in their steering and driving feel. Also a bit stiffer suspension. Both are great vehicles and have their trade offs. I actually drove another turbo cx5 yesterday for a review. And no my Outback Wilderness doesn’t have the thigh bolstering.

      forget turbo, Subaru will be using Toyota tech to create a forester hybrid phev. That will finally get the hp up to 220 or so and they'll do it by 2026. I know, they are so slow to progress. By 2027 they will push into the ev realm with better range than their Solterra (terrible range) and use Panasonic American made 4680 batteries which will give you the federal subsidy. The future is coming. Trust me, you'll want an ev for so many reasons. All the turbo does is suck gasoline and keep destroying our planet.

    How many miles between engine cleaning with that direct injection engine? Cost and time to clean? Is it worth dealing with this over owning a Toyota RAV4? I have heard of squeaks and squawks in the RAV4, along with general road noise -- would not like that. The Subaru has its selling points for sure.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  6 місяців тому +1

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 6 місяців тому +1

      The RAV4 leaves a lot to be desired for the price....a lot less cab insulation it seems, than some other crossovers on the market, so you'll hear more noise.
      A quick search says every 30,000 miles for engine cleaning with the direct injection engines....so about the same time you should be having the CVT serviced.
      The 2.5L 4 cylinder engines used in the Rav4 are also direct injection just so you are aware.

      Yeah, I’ve not heard of any 2.4 turbo problems, besides very few that had the silicone gasket issue which Subaru warranties. And very very few CVT failures. The only issue is if it did fail out of warranty they’re 2x as expensive as they should be. But overall the turbo Outback’s seem as solid as we can realistically expect.

    Can you do a video on outback towing. Like I’m wondering if my outback could tow my gfs dream car which is a na Miata

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  6 місяців тому

      I’ll be honest I don’t tow anything or have a hitch on my Outback Wilderness. Likely only the turbos could tow that if the NA weighs 2k pounds plus the trailer weight. Also good for her for having a Miata. I have a 23 ND2 Club. 🤩
      Edit: if I can someday find one like at a dealer hooked up to a camper or something I’ll try to film a video of my impressions of that and how stressed the Subaru feels.

      @wildbill23c 6 місяців тому

      I wouldn't even try it. That's one thing I'd say with Subaru, is to avoid using them as a tow vehicle. They're kind of lacking in power, add a trailer and you are really going to be struggling...not to mention engine/transmission cooling in the Subaru lineup is pretty lacking.

      Great question! That was actually by a guy who’s in my “membership program” as UA-cam calls it. UA-cam lets those of us who make videos have different perks for different monthly price points. My only level is what I call “early bird access” for the lowest price point I’m allowed to choose which is 3$ a month. So if anyone wants to sign up for that then they can watch all the videos I have otherwise set as private. I currently have over a dozen videos that will all eventually be public, but I have to pace myself when I release them publicly for my channel. Since I still work full time I usually film videos only 1-3 days each week and I like to have several weeks saved up just incase something happens and I can’t film for a while.

    I still find it perplexing that in spite of being the top trim level, that Subaru (and every other non-ultra luxury maker) don't find it useful to include lumbar support on the multi-way powered passenger seats. Does it never occur to them that the car might be shared by two people who trade off driving? If I like the lumbar support as a driver, why would I not care about having it as a passenger? Yeah, I get it that the driver seat is occupied 100% of the time, but still, with all the useless doo-dads they throw on the top trim levels, how about lumbar for the passenger too? They threw in heated seats for the outboard rear passengers, and that is only useful when carrying 3 people AND during the cold months. Supposedly the older demographic is a big part of the market share (maybe even more so for a Forester). Why not make the cars more "user friendly" for the demographic?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  6 місяців тому

      That’s a great observation. I think the lack of that option for the passenger is just cost savings, although it would be worth it for them to add it. Based off the average age of someone who watches my videos I think you’re right about the user friendliness being important. Over half my viewers are 45 years old or older according to my analytics.

      my tesla model 3 has lumbar adjustments on passenger seat (it's a 2021). However, it got dropped thereafter from their cars as their continual data stream showed barely any passengers using it. There's your answer.

    • @scottanthony3426
      @scottanthony3426 4 місяці тому

      @@selmersaxman1 Do you think Subaru is designing based on Tesla data? Hmm. Guessing a slightly different demographic too. Perhaps younger people buying a Model 3 vs a Forester? Good info though. Guess I'm in the minority. Anyone who has had low back issues during their life (median age for male low back surgery is 39), would know that lumbar support while undergoing the jostling of a car ride is important.

I wish on the lower trims you could get them without that stupid sunroof and larger touch screen. Just give the damn physical buttons and knobs that have worked for decades. I don't buy new vehicles every few years, so all that touch screen crap ain't gonna work out in the long run. Automakers know it that is why they're going to that crap, they want you to buy a new car every few years when all that stuff quits working.
