This song was written by Wayne Carson, Mark James and another guy. It was first released by Gwen McCrae and then Brenda Lee in 1972. Elvis' version was released in late 1972. Willie's version was released in 1982. The Pet Shop Boys released a version in 1987. 💚🤙
Willie is a legend and I love all his songs . But my favorite is his signature song he opens every show with, Whiskey River!! I've been to many Willie shows but the first, I was 16 and he was playing at the Brazoria County Fair Grounds in Angleton Texas. I managed to get up on the edge of the stage, just sitting there and someone handed me a joint. I took a few hits and Willie looks over walks over and put his hand out. I handed it to him he took a hit passed it back I took another hit and people started pulling my arm I lost it. But that's my story of I smoked a joint with Willie Nelson 😂😂😂
@@brandonnshante yes it was, I was wearing a cowboy hat that he took off my head and wore for the rest of the show. Then when the show was over he signed the inside liner. I still have it 50 years later 😆
Shante, you are SO right when you described how we women are emotional creatures, and need that time, and affection (not just sex, holding our hand, a hug, snuggling together when watching TV, doing some things together, even if only a few times a month, as she said, a DATE night. Just earning a paycheck to provide is not everything. Just a simple "I love you" and really meaning it. TOO many men STILL think that it's not "manly" to show their emotions, they have to be stoic and hold everything in. What men seem to NOT understand is that MOST of us women find a man who isn't AFRAID to show his emotions (including crying) is VERY ATTRACTIVE and makes us LOVE HIM MORE.

We guess we didn't even know. Dang the history.
@@brandonnshante But Willie Nelson's cover of this is the most popular and usually associated with him. I LOVE his voice.
