- This game still manages to surprise me with how difficult it can be but that won't stop me building the best towers ever and killing a bunch of idiots. Still loving this type of game and I can't wait to play more and find better ways of killing everything.

The whole “hoping he upgrades his towers this time” thing is lasting much longer then I thought so let’s get home to finally recognize a comment!

okay so he did upgrade his towers but only a few times. He should have done it a lot more I'm guessing
Question I have: Does he really upgrade or does the editing make him look like an idiot? Just wonder that some times.
He probably doesn’t realize that late game he can’t just place new towers and expect it to work. He is better off blowing all his money in 1 or a few specific towers to do tons upon tons of damage with that 1 tower.
Oh and mama using towers use more mana the higher level they get

My problem is the placements. Especially the frost, poison, tesla. So ineffective.

It's interesting watching people learn this game, they tend to go through one of two learning paths, either they a) build 4 towers and upgrade them, then die, or b) build 200 towers and upgrade none, then die. It always seems to take people a while to realise that a mix of the two strategies is probably the best idea.
i go for heavy econ and spreading balistas with 2-4 levels into them. then spreading other towers and leveling 6-10 times if i have enough econ
Its prob better to have your upgraded towers in the middle -ish area and then some non upgraded towers at the start of the monsters spawn to soften them up a bit.
The thing they also never learn (DF included) is the importance of damage over time. Put some towers along the path so that the mush pot is only having to take out 3/4s of the health instead of all of it.
@@tylerlewis6813 and have high health damaging towers closer to the home base since hopefully by the time things get there their shield and armor is gone.
@@tylerlewis6813 Yeah, when bleed is damage over time which is what DF wanted to go for today, then it's better to increase time, which means starting the bleed damage right when they spawn instead of near your base

To be fair, Beaten both 1 and 2 and got to the end of 3 way (died on 45 boss) without ever upgrading a tower manually, jsut used a crap ton of ballista and the college thing to upgrade damage.
Just so you know DF, at 2:49 the "+30 to 80" means that it increases the max bleed per second by 30 and makes the total 80 (before, you had 50). I hope that makes sense

those guys spawn after you kill the host unit. The only way to counter it is to build kill boxes further away.

Radars are really strong and probs my favorite tower. They even count as protecting houses so when they level up from killing basically anything that's on the map they tend to be the best for increasing your gold income from the houses near your tower

Ive found its best to use mortars to cover broader ranges. So have a group together in the first split, then from there move them around so they cover everything. A sort of constant damage for wherever the enemies spawn, making them weaker by the time they reach the funnel

wave 40 is so strong because starting at that wave a new type of enemy spawns. that type will split when killed, twice.
first it turns into those beholder looking types, then into those very fast eyeballs.
that wave 40 is the bane of many runs. you need multiple killzones in a row to effectively deal with those new monsters.
Instead of getting hundreds of towers upgrade the ones you have and you can easily beat this. I use 3 Tesla coils, one for health, one for shield, and one for armor and the place frost keeps all around. You literally can beat the game with 6 towers.

@@TerminalHeatSink he’s not lying! One lane is easily beat by getting the crit per level card then just upgrade a Tesla to level 50+ and get a bunch of frost keeps.

I actually beat it without using ballista's using mortars and shredders. They are mean, when upgraded. Also, there is a mod that has a speed up function. It is worth getting.

Almost 400 comments all saying “Upgrade your Towers” though only a few explaining why.
The trick is that at a certain point it’s cheaper to upgrade a tower than add a new one - not just because of rising tower costs but also the mana cost of adding new banks or siphons. Because one thing that is important to know is that upgrading a tower doesn’t increase its mana consumption.
Upgrades definitely do increase the cost of mana, not sure what the exact thresholds are.
@@drblessed4148 Really? I haven’t noticed a huge shift? Might be because I am typically pretty mana paranoid, but I think the increase is not equivalent or even comparable to buying a whole other tower.
@@XDependent yes, as you level it increase the cost per shot, most noticeable on things like the obelisk that shoot fast anyways

Random tip: balistas set on fastest change targets every shot (especially with frost bolts) spreading their damage out.

Poison affects shields. Shield reduces fire and bleed effect.
Fire affects armor. Armor reduces bleed effect.
Bleed affects HP
So you could space those out to maximize your damages

You should really pick up the ”mortar deals 25% poison/burn/bleed damage ” more often imo. Gives one tower so much different shred
Setting down an Obelisk right along your base's home stretch, targeting lowest Health, can clean up a lot of leakers that think they can smell freedom. Works even better linked to a frost tower and two shredder emplacements bracketing the frost tower's area of effect.

DF, you should play deep rock galactic, it's a game where you're a dwarf that mines, makes money, and kills insects/shoots stuff, it's everything you seem to love

You need to throw down mines like mana siphons. Every mine increases your towers health by 1. So 20 mines is an extra 20 health. It really helps in late game when you have money to burn
Put your towers on the high ground, as that increases both range and damage.

I find that personally, I don't bither upgrading anything other than the hyper specific towers (partical cannons, obelisks, whatever the 3rd is) before zombie oogie, cause the towers jjust upgrade themselves and you need a good group of towers anyway. But after him, it's really necessary to do at least a few upgrades to everyone, up to level 9.
I think DF would do better if he could manage his mana balance a lot better (he's kinda terrible at it)
The tesla placements not on the +3 was killing me XD

I really just fell asleep halfway through. It was 1am. That’s what I get having a bad sleep schedule. But I get to watch this again :)
Had a cold for a day and a half. Tested positive for covid about 8 hours ago. I’ve been restless and sleeping for no more than about 2 hours at a time for the last 24 hours. I’ve lost all sleeping patterns and am exhausted. You have no idea how nice it is that I can watch a DF video now. Normally I watch them when I wake up, but it’s 5am and I’ve been in bed for about 13 hours. Thank you for uploading so consistently
His active avoidance of higher locations, especially for AoE towers, always bugs me.
Doing a fully ballista run is always fun and rewarding should give it a try, pretty easy to get off the ground on single path especially.

He needs to upgrade his towers to do more armor damage towards the end around the 19 minute mark there. All the enemies getting through had high armor

DF, the + indicator when you place a tower on higher ground will mean it has more range
I would like to see DF do some of the achievement challenges (only ballista, Ballista and 1 other tower, never place a ballista, Etc.)

Consider instead of placing damage closer to your tower, placing it farther out so the damage over time can actually damage over time until they hit the death area, if anything that spawns other idiots makes it past like they were at the end there having towers near the base won't help as much, good video over all, also keep upgrading towers!!

well, it does work really well until like round 40, with the summoners
I mean stacking obscene amounts of aoe damage into the best choke point you have will carry you far in most any tower defense game
A single choke point that drains ALL of his mana at once so he's forced to invest heavily into mana which leaves him broke elsewhere.
The choke point strat is not bad since the lane splits and all enemies get there, the mana problem only occurs because he spams towers. It’s a viscous cycle of degenerate spending when he could upgrade 2-3 towers at the chokepoint instead to reduce mana cost.

Every time DF, mentions Ooogie all I can think about is: “You’re my dad, Boogie Woogie Woogie”
DF Chooses so many towers. That's how you get deck bloat. The oogies come from the longest route you didn't just extend. He chose the crit ability but didn't get any of his towers the extra crit chance.
House generate money over time use them! Tesla coils are crap at stripping shields (and/or doing anything else) compared to any other shield focused tower (like poison sprayers which are the best due to AOE)!
Don't pick up a bunch of towers, focus on upgrade cards for specific towers and try focusing specific upgrade cards so you can get dot cards unlocked when using towers without a base dot type (poison sprayers will only ever do a poison dots but towers like the mortar can get all 3 dot types a once).
The % damage added to dots is a direct conversion of the base damage to a specific type into an amount of a dot (example: a ballista has 50% bleed, so when it hits 50% of any health damage it does is added as a bleed dot which then ticks at whatever per/s rate you currently have unlocked).
Mini forts that spawn naturally on the map are tower locations of +4 to +6 which is the highest a tower can be placed (try using them for once!).
I'll note Tesla coils suck unless they are placed on a 3+ hill with a road circling them. In which case, they are great.
@@MrPicklesAndTea no they are crap even in that situation as they need far greater investments to get any real damage out of them compared to other towers.
Note this does not mean that you can't win with.

DF when you get the chance get the mod that can remove upgraded cards from the deck, that way you can build decks that are more specialized
next time try causing some DOT to new spawned enemies so they have less health when they make it to your main damage area
Oh, I know what the starting layout thing is. You get more stuff based on your starting health upgrades, It's unlisted in the menus.
