Me too. I grew up with this NBA on CBS open too, with the memorable theme music and the primitive computer animation of the basketball court. One of the best sports openings ever created!
100%! No matter what anyone says about today, this was the GOLDEN age of basketball. No way, no one from today could of dominated during this era. Take a three? You will land down on a foot lambier style, and somehow dealt with it. Hand check? Play on!
Boston was always worked out when they played LA in the finals. When both teams were fresh in 84, Boston won! Those damn Rockets in 81 and 86 prevented two more Bost- LA finals matchups
The Lakers (though I'ma clippers fan) ran the Celtics off the floor in 1987! My best childhood and teenage memories (HEARIN those NBA on CBS intros) as I approach the big 5-0 next year! Watched these games along with my dad (not here anymore) today (still) gives me chills!👍
Lakers were HELLA LUCKY to play in a WEAK ASS Western Conference back then! They cruised to The Finals that year...while Boston had to play HELLA TOUGH Milwaukee AND Detroit both to 7 game series (while Fakers swept both ECSF and ECF against INFERIOR competition). Boston was banged up by the time The Finals came..and they still took 2 games from a HELLA good Lakers team. If you reverse the conferences (you know, have Boston play in the back then WEAK ASS Western Conference...while LA played both Milwaukee and Detroit in 1987)....chances are The Fakers come limping into The 87 Finals while a rested and healthy Boston team take that series from LA.
I actually drove through Pontiac, MI on my way home today, Wednesday, June 19, 2019. I had to take side streets through the neighborhoods to avoid bad traffic backups on I-75.
These intros added so much to a person’s interest in the sport The level of the game has changed but the era of the NBA that’s these intros covered was the best the sport ever offered Maybe a little overdramatized ,but the game has lost something without them
The Len Bias tragedy sunk the Celtic emerging dynasty The aging trio of Bird , McHale , and Parish couldn’t keep up with the wear & tear of the nightly NBA grind Red Auerbach played his trump card , it didn’t work Oh , what might have been ….
80’s kicked ass !! It was a great time for sports .
Man, I get such nostalgia chills from these NBA on CBS openings. Love it!

Loved these intros by CBS for the NBA

I think the 83-89 CBS Intros were the best of all the NBA ones (NBC's must have known it with their similar theme they used!)... :)
Yes cbs have till this day the best college football intro and college basketball intro in the early 90's cbs didn't play no games
That theme, the CGI Boston Garden and Dick Stockton/Brent Musberger’s narration… legendary indeed.
The best era of basketball
1:35 - one of the great moments in sports history . . .
The most spineless moment in NBA history

@@paullentz1972 Wow Celtics weren't in the Lakers class in the eighties there was no Rivalry you should be grateful for the gift in 84
@@bigt5699 - if there wasn’t a rivalry, then why were you watching
I loved the openings on CBS in the 80 s. especially if the Celtics played when I was younger

Fascinating
The 1st non finals network prime time NBA game 1976.
+John Paulson Is that right? Seems easy to believe. But wow...crazy
The year before the Lakers-Rockets conference final game 5 was on CBS on a Wednesday night. Look up some facts next time
@@TL2354 Lakers Rockets wasn’t a prime time telecast. It was an 11:30 PM ET start.

I fix it now there net work is better NBA on cbs
Boston was in the finals only to lose verses the well rested & motived los angeles lakers in 1987 Boston was a buzzsaw in 1986
Boston 86 would have crushed LA 87.
@@MsBelle1111 not sure diffently not crushing

God. When Parrish punched the fuck out of Laimbeer, I came a little. Go C's. Always

No way, bozo. The Lakers beat the Celtics in 1987.
True. Bad Boyz!
BOZO, LOL👍
Boston Celtics won that title 1987
I was rooting for them, but they didn't win that championship... The Lakers beat them in 6... :)
Would have gone 7 and who knows what happens if not for LA bringing their own refs for Game 4.
THE LAKERS (THOUGH, A CLIPPERS FAN) GOT THE CELTICS IN 1987!
