Good video. I liked the first two episodes a lot cause there was a storyline with ups and downs. This one was quite straightforward with the tedious work of capturing everything. I would love to see more of the "failed" playthroughs in the future
in order to restore rome you need to have a cultural heritage from the italian region and then you need to do the unify italia decision which involves conquering the entire regions of italia and illyria (western balkans plus a small slice of the alps). after that the decision to restore the roman empire becomes available and you need to control a few additional states for it like athena, some state in thessalonika, aleppo and jerusalem. as the proper rome you can also take the decision to destroy the byzantine empire once you control the european side of their empire, it will start a war against them and when you win the entire byzantine empire becomes de jure part of imperium romanum and you can conquer anatolia by the de jure counties. at least that is the way i like to do it.
Siberian Empire type of playthrough? With a starting choice like Ural or Rounala? If it also turns into an old Paganism revival religion, all the better ;). Reforming Turimism could be a unique choice as well.
That's honestly one of my personal favourites, throwing a pagan revival into the mix makes doing Russian imperialism less of a "fun for a few hours, close the game and feel awful" situation for me.
This series has been so much fun to watch, so I subscribed just now and have been doing my own similar run in CK3, including with Hellenism, which is how I found this video. I had the most issue figuring out what exactly “Illyrium” was and thought to look for a video guide. People say there’s a regional map that will show this - not on the Xbox version, I guess? Anyway, all that said, I found my way here to your excellent CK3 videos! Nicely done!
When I did the Roman conquest, I have found that at some point the levies are just not worth it. The attrition and gold hit is massive. So I just stacked ungodly bonuses on my men-at-arms and knights, and had a gold chevron 10k elite army to wipe anyone. They easily defeated stacks 8 times larger than them. The ultimate stack though is the palatinae, but they unlock only in late medieval for roman cultures.
When i played as Hvitserk and made Britannia (named it Nordtannia for RP reasons) i have had 5 crusades called against me and won all of them. Defending them is actually pretty easy if you have around 10k levies since the AI comes in with small groups at first which allows you to wreck them due to disembarkment penalty even if their forces are double your size (assuming you went for gallant and make your marshal train commanders). The issue arises if you have countries around the island like normandy for example, because the ai will also siege these since they are nearby. My way of countering that was to let them take it and kill them as soon as they come to england and unsiege it when the war score is around 90%
in my own roman restoration, i actually started in sardinia with a custom character who was already hellenic, then swore fealty to the byzantine empire with religious exemption and grew from the inside until i was big enough to take on the papacy then got independence and then it was just a matter of time.
You need to manually change culture in your vassals capital and they must be adjacent to a tile with your culture aswell. Then they need cash, if all that is given, they will promote culture.
I've heard that if you change the culture of a vassals capital, they are more likely to spread it. I've only tried it once, but it did end up with the culture spreading to all their land so that's a data point showing it working!
@@lukasblast3699 just use promote culture with your steward, apply it to a dukes duchy capital, they have a decent chance of spreading it providing they personally have adapted your new culture with you

You should try and make bene-israel in ck3, its a formable kingdom on the western coast of India, you have to be malabaristic to do it though, but id personally say to just make a custom character.
@@church6134I find it ironic that the Roman Empire returned not by professional armies but by mercenaries. Rome prided itself on its legions and professional armies, I'm not saying it's bad to hire mercenaries but it is a bit ironic.
Snap will you try Jend world conquest with ironman competibal character? Its a good and fun idea if you know how to create early game space marines out of horse archers
Honestly, if you have a decent amount of *powerfull* MaA then you can just ditch levies unless you are stupidly outnumbered. I recall regularily winning battles 10/1.
Is hereditary rule and royal perogative gated from Roman culture? It says it when Im hovered over it. Have been doing the Sardinia run as it seems to be the best way
so much to your problems in your previous run :y bruh I've played CK3 for over 560 hours already, but I've never had 30k gold, nor 51k troops in any run, ever. I think when I created the Roman Empire at one point, I've had, like, 15k troops. But okay, I have to add that I started in 867 and I was done around 1000 I think. So this _could_ be a reason why your army is so incredibly more powerful than my was, because you were 200 years ahead when fighting the pope etc. It's just a guess though. I normally don't play my runs to 1200 AD. Edit: 23:27 lol

Simulates well the period of professionalization of armies
the good thing about taking Rome and the papacy land is that he cant hire mercenary's and half's his income but he can still direct crusades
