100% agree, there's no more blue highlights to make the fish look special if it's just a solid blue plastered down each side, but that's just my opinion, I'm just old fashioned when it comes to fish!
Its so hard to find anything on regular blue acaras! I have 4 currently. I have 1 about 4-5in and 3 about 3 in long. I would love if you did some more vids on your RBA 😁
I started with EBA and was hooked. I just got half inch hybrid fry of the EBA and BA, so far they are looking more wild type but already have blue spangling. To answer your question I had to get a mix of the two, and the Electric blue. Your severum looks gorgeous next to them!
I prefer the Blue Acaras. I have a “ Show Quality Female “ with some really nice blue/ green sparkles all over the body. I also have 2 Trinidad strain Wild Blue Acaras as well, the Male Trin Strain and my show quality bred and laid eggs but unfortunately it was in a community 75 gal and the eggs disappeared
Beautiful ! The electric blue is dazzzling, i've no beef with hybridization but its like everything else in this earth system mankind can tamper too much with the natural run of things. When i was a boy seeing the koi goldfish first time was a Wow moment because of the coloration, now today science has manipulated the koi gene and it's become a common sight across the fishkeeping world in many species of fish, is that a good thing? I'm not too sure about that -
I've seen regular blue Acaras that barely have any blue on them but yours has a lot of blue. Not sure if it's the gender, age or environment that makes some bluer than others.
The regular one for me! When the colour up and display, they can go almost completely charcoal in colour. It makes their blue face speckles and orange fin pattern really pop. Peaceful as well if not spawning and agreat alternative to something like a green terror.
I just prefer natural looking fish rather than the ultra colourful false looking man made variety stuff that's being bred everywhere nowdays. That also goes for any of the Electric blue varieties of Cichlids for me
I like them both and have a couple of Electrics, but I am partial to the regular Blue Acara and am looking for some wild caught because I've read that the color of the captive bred Blue Acara have diminished over the years.
Thanks for your input, in my area RBA are extremely hard to find due to the popularity of the EBA, I rarely see anyone even looking for them. Thanks for watching, come back again soon.
I would like to have the blue, since you told us that the blue is hard to fine in nature, and probably not available in the petshop, but the electric blue is more pretty,
Regular blue ! I’m so pissed … my lfs was selling electric blue acaras under the name blue acaras so I bought one but I just realized what I bought ! Ah well . Thanks for the video brother
I thought I was getting EBA and got EBA crossed with BA, lol! When that EBA gets 5 inches, it's stunning!! Video can not do them justice. I hope you can enjoy it, and that a BA appears in your life.😊
yeah, i am going to be very careful finding one of the wild types. they are almost black which makes the colors really pop. def a case of ''less is more''.
I'd go with this type of tank, because of the variety of fish you can add, with Pirahnas, nothing else can go in the tank. Looks like 2 tanks for you buddy! Thanks for stopping by my channel
I like polar blue convicts. They are a cross between a male convict and a female parrot. But I have two electric blue acaras, I think. It's hard for me to tell but I think they are electric blue. The problem is I chose white substrate and it has made them stay in colorless mode...
I like regular, blue acaras better, although they are a bit more aggressive towards smaller fish than electric blues. So if you wanna try putting them in a community tank with, I don't know, black tetras, I recommend electric blue.
I did try a regular blue Acara with a school of cardinal tetras and that definitely didn't work (went from 15 to 6 in three days); then I tried the larger neon black tetras . . . and well, I started with 12 tetras and next day I had 9 . . . so the Acara is now in a time out tank! I have to decide what to do . . .I think he's going to get his own tank.
@@heshkf3353 I couldn't believe it but that happened to me with serpea tetra. I started with 20 a few months ago I have 5 now. And they are really hardy and fast. The amazing thing is I never see the aggression. I guess it happens with the lights off. But, I thought maybe silver mollies since they can grow pretty big.
Your regular blue acara could possibly be a hybrid between a blue acara and a green terror sometimes they sell them as regular blue acara since many acara don't have as much blue in them
Found out electric blue acara actually aren't hybrid they are just line bled to have better more fibrant blues, that also leads to a few deformities down the line like average slightly smaller size and so on.
i am looking for the wild type. ones i see on line are even darker than the one you have which makes the colors really pop. someone said they are from trinidad.
All your fish look fabulous. I want to get a regular blue acara, but the few places around me that actually have them in stock, they're real pale and dingy looking. Did yours color up some after you got him, or was he pretty much always that bold, dark color?
Hello Hodz! Both are absolutely gorgeous fish. I would love to have both but I think the Electric Blue Acara really pops!!! Great tank! I also really like the selection of fish you went with in your tank. Thank you for another great video!
The jack and shark are problematic AF, and your EBAs are dead fish floating way before that shark gets 5 feet long. I honestly can't tell if you're trolling, but if this is really your learning curve, it's steep, but I'll try to help. Check out Aquarium co-op, and cichlid bros if you want to go that route. Best of luck!!!
interested in seeing where the aggression level falls. I just BA crossed with EBA. They have the black stripes but already have blue spangles at .5 inches!
I like the regular Blue Acara myself, very friendly engaging to it's master fish! If you had that one Blue Acara a mate, it would start displaying it's fins more open and happy flirting with it;s mate and their colors are more vibrant and they actually change colors on their lateral camoflaged lines from a pale silver to deep steel gray stripes and exhibit more of the deep blue color on their fins and cheeks when they have a mate! Get em a mate , it also could be the other reason that it likes to hide a lot!
Its funny i just bought 4 blue acara yesterday and thought they were the same thing until i saw an electric blue a couple tanks down for the same price i paid for all four. I came on yt to fond out more info, and all the videos are about the eletric blue. I think i wanna get 4 more and maybe some vieja. Cool video though!
such a beautiful video 😍 I still can't decide which I like better, and I have one of each. with those fat little faces and the coloring on both they're some of my fave fish for sure!!

I haven't seen a blue acara since 2000

electric blue for me but in partial because i have a few
