- Waggler fishing isn't difficult when you know how to do it. You don't need any fancy tackle and you often don't need to cast far.
All you need to do is follow a few simple rules and it can be really easy to amass a large weight of fish in a short time, even on an unfished stillwater.
If you want to learn how to do it, watch me as I take you through a great session where I caught lots of fish, both large and small.

Nice one Den, can't beat the waggler....
I'm a 70- year old beginner den I've subscribed and I'm loving this with beginner tuition as well can't whack it thanx mate
Thanks mate. Enjoy your fishing.👍👍😁😁
Superb back on form 😎
Sessions like that I absolutely love.
Well done. Easy fish as the late great Bill used to say. 😢
Put a cover on your tea when you've poured it Den. Flies etc seem to love swimming in it!
lovely session Den ty
That was amazing
Thanks for sharing your passion
Simple days always seem to be the best. Nice days fishing Den. Im sure Bill approves watching us all from a far.
Thanks Peter. It's a shame about Bill. I used to love watching his simple tactics. RIP Bill.
Nice and comfy fishing Den.Nothing like it mate 😊😊😊
Yep. Absolutely Clive. Had to watch out for the snakes though. We are in the breeding season.😁😁
Poolsbrook ,near Chesterfield 👍
Thanks Den
That was a real pleasure.Thanks. Still trying to get my head around weighted wagglers. I find a float that lies down easier to read....🤔
Thanks Felix. It really doesn't matter much if you use weighted or unweighted wagglers mate. Weighted versions cast a little bit further and require less shot to cock them, but they do dive into the water more than unweighted wagglers. In shallow waters, it is therefore better to use an unweighted waggler. At the end of the day, if you are comfortable with what you are using, then there's nothing wrong with that.
Great session Den totally jealous
Yep. I really enjoyed that one Andre. Thanks mate.
Hi Den , I'm the guy that suggested having a spinner or two in case you get another rod pulled in. Lol. I stated I've just got back into fishing after decades and been a few times and have caught plenty of fish but virtually all carp unfortunately. Think I need to find some rivers to fish and hopefully get roach or perch , not into this carp obsession that peeps are wrapped up in. Whilst scouring Ebay for tackle it's made CARP a four letter word in the worse sense to me , carp banksticks ? really , they are just to hold the rod no matter what you fish for. Best one I've seen constantly , quote " Carp Fishing Gas Portable Stove 3000w + 600 Cutlery Set + 1.1L Kettle ". Now I know carp can be canny but to invite themselves up to your bivvy for dinner and a cup of tea or coffee I think is pushing it a bit. Anyway I'm enjoying getting back into it and searching around for the best club to join for next season , just relying on day ticket waters at the moment. One club I looked into has a total ban on artificial baits which I agree with , I had thought on this before about fish maybe swallowing plastic let alone lost baits left in lakes and the build up over time although small is still pollution , your thoughts on that. Regards Bob. ( I'm in the UK. BTW )
Hi Bob. Welcome to the world of fishing in 2023 mate. I’m just waiting for the whistle to go for the last day of a three day tournament.
Marvellous Den. Just finished work sat down and had to watch it twice. Loved it, please keep'um coming
Pete
That's great Pete. It really makes all the hours of editing worth it when viewers appreciate my work. Thanks mate.😁😁👍👍
I noticed that other people around me when waggler fishing catapulted their feed bait out parallel to the water as a spread of bait, I myself catapult the feed bait up so that it travels in an arc and so drops on the float in a very tight grouping, using little and often my catch rate was more often than not higher than someone spread baiting, on non commercial waters though I do put in the odd spread baiting catapult shot in order to draw in the fish to the area but not concentrate them too much around my float.
That would be great to see your set up Den 👍🎣
Hi Keith. Do you mean my rig or my general setup of the Seat Box, Rods etc?
Your camera set up and how you do your video etc. It’s very good Den
thanks for your reply, tight lines 🎣
@@keithhallam5473 OK mate. Thanks. I'll have a think about doing a quick video on the subject.
well done Den, great fishing !👍👍🐟👋
Thanks Danny.
Couple of nice whales there Den! Loved your Dad's Army reference. Congrats on 12K. Long overdue. 👍👍
Thanks John. Nice to hear from you mate.
@@FishingwithDen I'm on the mend. 🙂
@@johnwilliams2711 That's great news John.
Thanks Den , match rod £30 , pole £1000 !
Better than pole. I recently fell into trap of the pole and bought a Preston 8.5 mtr pole, didn’t even take it out of bag, prefer rod, either simple float or locslide. Now I have a brand new edge monster I’m trying to sell lol😊 enjoy vids den, keep going mate.
Thanks Paul. I really enjoyed that session.
Hi Den, nice video and nice fish.
Thanks Ralf. I wonder how much bigger they get in that place?
@@FishingwithDen I see the carp have taken over in Australia. I went fishing with a feeder rod in the Rhine near Krefeld on Wednesday. I have over 50 snouts and roach and bream all around 25cm long. That was really fun again. There aren't that many carp here.
@@ralfmuentnich I'm a bit surprised that the Carp haven't taken over there Ralf. When I fished around Dusseldorf in the early 80s, we would catch one or two, so I assumed they would have bred. There were a few big ones at the back of Dusseldorf Hafen.
@@FishingwithDen No, you can't catch smaller carp anymore. In Düsseldorf you can only catch carp from 10 - 20 kg. on Boilis. The dominant white fish in the Rhine are roach, rudd, rudd and bleak. What has become increasingly widespread there is the mitten crab. Fishing with baitfish on the bottom has become very difficult. They're immediately on the bait.
I fished Pakington once and I found I had to change after every bite I used Sweetcorn then bread dipped in the sweetcorn juice then Maggots dipped in the sweetcorn juice? I had my best days Tench fishing I think I have ever had. I was even getting other anglers coming over asking what I was doing as they were blanking on the same pool. Great vid once more.
Thanks Phill. I do miss Packington.
It has changed from when I first went. I had to put money in a letterbox in a concrete pillar, I think it was still a working quarry as well? @@FishingwithDen
Great session Den you can't beat waggler fishing short, probably the simplest, easiest and for me most enjoyable way of fishing. It's also a bonus not having to pack away poles, roosts, rollers lol. On a side note just wondering at 7:54 the first one you missed you commented "a scale off a mirror", I've only seen you get commons on the vids I've watched, do you get mirrors and grass carp as well?
Congrats on the 12K subs!!
Thanks Floyd. We do get Mirror Carp, but they are quite rare. I don't think we have any Grass Carp, but there may be some somewhere. Next time I catch a Mirror, I'll make a point of showing the viewers.
So glad you were using a rod and not a pole. I love waggler fishing too and also think bread is still a super bait. What size hook were you using Den?
Thanks Spark. It was a size 14 Kamasan B911 mate.
Thank you for this nice video Denn.
Am I right that the direction of the wind gives you a big advantage
fishing in this kind of shallow corner of that lake ?
They do say that Carp follow the wind and I have fished at places where those anglers who were facing into the wind got many more fish than those where the wind was behind them.
👍👏🍻
I would like to see how you setup sir.
No worries. You can see how I setup in this video: ua-cam.com/video/IAU70vniso0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=FishingwithDen
Hello again could you and would you fish with three rods at the same time😎
Hi Matt. The answer is no. I very rarely fish with 2 rods, so 3 would not be something I would consider. I'm not a specimen angler, so I expect to get bites regularly, which means I would constantly be having to play more than one fish at a time.
Den i forgot to ask. What length hooklink would you use when float ledgering ?
Its not critical Paul. For most days 30 to 60cm is fine.
Thought so, as you may see, i dont do a lot of waggler fishing lol. Cheers Den
@@Paulforsilvers No worries mate. If the fish are swallowing your hookbait, I would recommend shortening the distance from the feeder to the hook. Sometimes as little as 15cm is required.
Den, can one float ledgering at a depth of 5m without polaris float?👋
Not really Danny. I would suggest that 2.5m to 3m with a fixed float would be about the maximum mate. Can you explain what you are trying trying to achieve? I may be able to help.
@@FishingwithDen thanks Den! it was just a question.👍🐟🐟👋
You can catch on commercials den with no bait on
Cheap day out then Brian.🤣🤣👍👍
Hi Den, what city are you in? Do you get many spiders? I like a lot about Australia and if it wasn't for the spiders i would consider moving.
Hi Tom. I live near Newcastle in new South Wales. I love it here too mate. As for Spiders, I rarely see any.
@@FishingwithDen that's reassuring, I see those huntsman spider videos and I think if I saw one in my house I would have to burn the house down.
@@tomhill9934 I've only ever seen one huntsman Spider Tom. It was in an outside toilet in a pub.😁😁👍👍
@@FishingwithDen 🫣 imagine that thing crawling on you on the toilet! I'd be checking behind every toilet if I was over there.
@@tomhill9934 LOL> It was actually sitting up on the ceiling in the corner whilst i stood there. It's the redback Spiders you have to watch for under the toilet seat. I once saw a newspaper article about a tradesman who sat on a Portaloo and got bitten in an unfortunate place.🤣🤣
Paying for a pole then my payment to the syndicate , cost me most of my pension !
