What a great video you managed to showcase Rhyl excellently ( I didn't doubt you couldn't btw ) but it's got such a variety of things to enjoy and it brings back proper seaside holiday vibes. Stunning beach, I have to say those chips like you mentioned didn't look the best, but sometimes it's about sitting there like you did on the beach, enjoying the sun and views and being proper British and that makes it all worthwhile for a few chips to be overcooked hehe. If you get where i'm coming from. Love the arcades, again, it just reminds me of being a nipper and getting to enjoy the 2p machines, spend all my money on rock from the rock shops, but it's nice to see that Rhyl is still one of those locations were people enjoy their holidays still. That was a great video. We are returning to the area this coming weekend, and we cannot wait. We moved to Shropshire in Sept 2023, having bought a house project, and Prestatyn and Rhyl have now become our favourite go to seaside places.
That's sounds idyllic. You certainly can't beat the beach at Rhyl! They are two lovely places to visit. We also like Rhos on Sea (but have yet to do a vlog on it!) have a brilliant weekend. Oh and do check out Angel Bay in the winter months to visit all the seals! Cheers 🍻

I have a soft spot for Rhyl. Even though our visit was only a one nighter we enjoyed the wee bit of Rhyl we saw. Glad you went back. Great video.Would come to Rhyl and Prestatyn in the 60/70's and stayed a few times at Pontins amongst other places but would come late in the day to see the hovercraft coming in.Happy times.
I used to go to Rhyl very often as a child and a teenager, i lived closed by them days... Rhyl was amazing in the 70s The fun fare was brilliant and it was near the Marina them days, there was a roller skate ring/park, outdoor swimming and paddling pool, crazy golf, an area/park where there were bikes with smaller roads and traffic lights within the fences, great fun....Loads of stalls open, and always a queue for burgers, hot dogs, candy floss and donuts, ice creams, shops/stalls selling 'kiss me quick hats' lol..... Lots of nice cafes as well as fish and chip shops....Marks and Spencers, C&A, Woolworths and many of us went there to get our school uniform Beautiful buildings on the sea front where you could rent a sea front view apartment for a week, or maybe just a weekend.... Lots of hotels not only on the sea front but down a couple of side streets and mostly full too 'no vacancies' signs in their windows. The buses and cars used to have to queue up for ages in the long queue, from before the water towers until, and over the little bridge into the Crosville bus station....It truly was just a bustling town with hundreds of tourists, teenagers from miles around came their too. There used to be a theatre on the seafront too on the same side as the sea.....Great days, great memories, and its so sad to see it's not the same anymore :( Times change and not always for the better And now I sound like i've turned into my mam and my Nain( grandma) lol

Just got back from the UK. We transferred from a Train to a bus in Rhyl on our way to Conwy and drove by the train! We thought the town looked cute as we drove through. Conwy is a lovely town and we had a thunderstorm as we climbed the castle towers. Thank you for teaching us how to say Llandudno, the bus driver still teased us for getting it wrong. We also went to Bodnant Garden. North Wales is an amazing and beautiful part of the world.
We hope you had the best time. Yes sadly the trains are rubbish at the moment and there are lots of replacement buses! We're glad you enjoyed Conwy, it really is beautiful. Rhyl has the essential feature of a good seaside town and that is a huge sandy beach, it's good to see restoration work going on in the town and that's always helpful for the future. The lack of public toilets by the beach is something that surprised me in Italy and it seems it's the case in the UK too. Australian suburban and town beaches all have free public toilets, some with showers so it's annoying to me that other countries don't have them. The going into a bar or cafe and having to buy a drink creates a vicious cycle of wanting to use a toilet, I suppose it does increase business!
It has everything going for it, apart from the people in charge! It does have public toilets, but they cost and I'd spent all Wills money 🤣. Australia sounds amazing! Sometimes you find beaches with free toilets, most councils though charge! Cheers for watching 🍻
Its been so long since I have been to Rhyl but I always used to love it when I was little. The steam train looked like a cute ride around the lake. Nothing better than fish and chips on the beach. I love the arcades by the seaside haha I dread to think how much we have spent playing in them. What a shame about the air show. xx

Thank you! How on earth does that even cost 5 million let alone go over by that! It's a joke! We we've been watching since they pulled down the old bistro and to see that in its place is a travesty!! Best advice with the drone is to just practise! The beach is a great place to have a go. The gulls don't seem bothered in Rhyl (they're airshow trained!!!). I used to be terrified at first, but Wills has got better and better the more we've flown it and now feels a lot more confident in it! Cheers for watching 🍻

Excellent Vlog, best I've seen about Rhyl. I used to go with family as a Kid in late 1960s early 70s. I used to call it the Welsh Las Vegas. Been on 2 or 3 Coach trips since 90s and early 2000s. After seeing this I'd Love to visit again. But not so keen on travelling now 61, which is why UA-cam is so Brilliant

Hi both, growing up in Gwynedd Rhyl always had a bad name but we were here not that long ago and think the harbour is beautiful with that bridge and the beach is so big and lovely. Marine Lake with the train is great too and the other nature reserve near Sainsburies is so peaceful . Loved the drone footage, interesting that the sky flyer has gone now. Rhyl is definitely getting sooo much better with all of the work that's going on. You had a nice day to show it off as well 🙂👍~ Anna
It's sad isn't it as it was quite the place in the 60's. We both have very happy memories as kids in Rhyl, even though it probably was declining then. I love it along that bit of coast, from Towyn through Rhyl, to Prestatyn & Talacre, we go every year for a few days in a caravan. We are actually going this Monday for 4 nights as it happens. We love the big market & fair in Towyn, lots of things to do. My favourite chippy is probably the one by the beach at Talacre. I’ve been going to Rhyl/ towyn since I was a baby, I’m now 40 .. definitely my favourite seaside towns in the uk 🇬🇧 just a shame they closed the old Rhyl sun centre, it was sooo much better than the new water park

Really don't bother it really is a run down tip,full of druggies and has gradually got worse ,we live in betws y coed about 25 MLS away and haven't been near the place in 10yrs.llandudni is far better.just our honest opinion.try Llandudno much better 👍👍💯💯

Love your positive attitude when visiting, you hone in on the good bits, and Rhyl clearly has loads of those, that beach being the main winner for us ⛱️❤ (Pete loved the beach drone shots Wills👌). Think it takes a long time for a place like this to get its groove back, and certainly the loss of the air show will be a huge blow this year, what a shame. But, the nature reserve and the little train were fab, and it was good to see people out and about enjoying the seaside. We are at Rhyl this week the beech front is great but the shopping area is horrible most of the shops are closed and there are load of youths smoking weed and drugged up will not be going back

I'd also like to add ,every small convince store I went to I bought milk still in date however it was sour , I don't know where it's being stored before it gets to the sales fridge .but it needs looking into. I was glad to get on the train ,and be on my journey home.
We were there the same day 😊 I still enjoy Rhyl for a couple of hours. Just wouldn't fancy a full holiday there. We need to do the miniature railway soon looks fun 😊

I could not believe how much litter ,food scraps and glass lined the streets and promenade. Very sad . However you make the most of what you have ,I used the bus service slot .visited a few places .I could not walk the dogs .due to do much glass .so we did not spend much time in Rhyl . The marine lake is nice .

Yep the monorail track was up for years, but it only operated for 6 weeks! Sadly the search for the cock of the north is on hold. Stayed in Rhyl twice. Once in 1980 on rugby tour .mass brawl in huge seaside pub (we werent involved) .second time a few years ago on a Saturday night .did a pub crawl .every pub felt like it was gonna kick off. Walked through it on Wales Coastal Path a couple of years ago and didnt even wear a crash helmet. Horrible place for me .much nicer places further along the coast. Excellent video though. I was down on Llyn Peninsula walking coastal path last week and enjoying the evening sunshine in Harlech and Criccieth.
Sounds about right! I've only been out at night there a few times. It's always been ok, but I've always been in a big group minding our own business! Yep, there are over places, but it's such a shame as Rhyl was the seaside resort to go to in the 60's. We both have great memories from the 80's as kids, but it was probably in decline then. Well I’ve been here and can see what it must have been in its day. Clearly some money has gone out of this area, such a shame. I really enjoyed it there, beautiful beach and a lovely little town. I found everyone to be dare I say ‘old fashioned friendly’ nice manners and courtesy; something I really appreciate. I’d say if you like to visit a small seaside town, lovely beach, nice food, somewhere a bit quieter than main stream. I think it would make for a nice summer holiday or day trip 👍
It was quite the place back in the day and as you said a little old fashioned, but in a lovely way. Sadly it's not so much now. As the coastal work is being done this year, there's not a lot going on on the front. Fingers crossed some of the businesses that have been forced to close this year will come back next year. The beach however is stunning! And always will be. We'll be back to review Rhyl again next summer. Here's hoping the airshow goes ahead next year as that was a huge blow in the community calender. Ah Rhyll, officially the second worst seaside resort in the UK, utter BS obvs. I can name five far worse ones within a few miles from me that make anywhere look bad. So much to love about Rhyll, the snobs doing the surveys that make the news havent a clue. This is a family friendly resort that has entertained people for 150 years and will do so for another 150 years. Full of traditional charm that will only appreciate over time. Blackpool, Rhyll and Skegness? Well I haven’t visited Rhyll yet, we are looking forward to that, but Blackpool and Skegness are top tier. Maybe not great for the locals but the people that visit? These are all FIRST CLASS destinations.
First class is probably a bit kind, but it certainly does have the makings of first class, sadly the council don't seem too proficient! We read this week that the new market (ikea flat pack) doesn't have anyone to run it!! So it's almost ready and is just going to stand there! We would love to travel back in time and see Rhyl in the early 1900's, it was quite the place to be. To be fair, there weren't that many empty units (less than wrexham for sure) and there were people on the high street. You could also say that it's the first sunny day since August, so that might have had something to do with it!! Cheers for watching 🍻
It always annoys me when these so called worst seaside town lists are published, wether it is Rhyl, Skegness, Great Yarmouth, Blackpool or whereever. People still visit and always will, yes they may not be the thriving towns of yesteryear but all still provide a great family holiday. The sealife building is being demolished later this year sadly.
You can't take it away from Rhyls beach. It's beautiful and will always attract visitors. Fingers crossed the coastal work will finish soon and they can pop some cafes and food outlets back along the front. Cheers for watching 🍻

It is very sad to learn the aquarium is now closed. May I ask what is the reason they had to close? lack of funds? or it was not profitable? I do know operating the large aquarium is costry. There is a huge aquarium in Atlanta GA, US....Large mount of funds from Coca Cola .. Little local shops always struggle to stay open nowadays. Maybe, local government brings some event to energize and bring some visitors...??? I did see some vibrant visitors. The beach seems gorgeous though. haha low tide again? any marine wildlife? Hope you had a good time. The aquarium had to close as the animals were getting stressed by the building noise. They've all been rehomed and now it's closed. To be honest it needs with knocking down and replacing or a lot of work on it. The town did feel more vibrant and alive and lots of the shops were open (a far cry from a lot of British town centres these days!). The tidal range along that coast is massive! Why just last week I went to the footy and had a cup of chips with a big splash of vinegar. Delish. That was a great video. We are returning to the area this coming weekend, and we cannot wait. We moved to Shropshire in Sept 2023, having bought a house project, and Prestatyn and Rhyl have now become our favourite go to seaside places.
That's sounds idyllic. You certainly can't beat the beach at Rhyl! They are two lovely places to visit. We also like Rhos on Sea (but have yet to do a vlog on it!) have a brilliant weekend. Oh and do check out Angel Bay in the winter months to visit all the seals! Cheers 🍻

I have a soft spot for Rhyl. Even though our visit was only a one nighter we enjoyed the wee bit of Rhyl we saw. Glad you went back. Great video.Would come to Rhyl and Prestatyn in the 60/70's and stayed a few times at Pontins amongst other places but would come late in the day to see the hovercraft coming in.Happy times.

I used to go to Rhyl very often as a child and a teenager, i lived closed by them days... Rhyl was amazing in the 70s The fun fare was brilliant and it was near the Marina them days, there was a roller skate ring/park, outdoor swimming and paddling pool, crazy golf, an area/park where there were bikes with smaller roads and traffic lights within the fences, great fun....Loads of stalls open, and always a queue for burgers, hot dogs, candy floss and donuts, ice creams, shops/stalls selling 'kiss me quick hats' lol..... Lots of nice cafes as well as fish and chip shops....Marks and Spencers, C&A, Woolworths and many of us went there to get our school uniform Beautiful buildings on the sea front where you could rent a sea front view apartment for a week, or maybe just a weekend.... Lots of hotels not only on the sea front but down a couple of side streets and mostly full too 'no vacancies' signs in their windows. The buses and cars used to have to queue up for ages in the long queue, from before the water towers until, and over the little bridge into the Crosville bus station....It truly was just a bustling town with hundreds of tourists, teenagers from miles around came their too. There used to be a theatre on the seafront too on the same side as the sea.....Great days, great memories, and its so sad to see it's not the same anymore :( Times change and not always for the better And now I sound like i've turned into my mam and my Nain( grandma) lol

Just got back from the UK. We transferred from a Train to a bus in Rhyl on our way to Conwy and drove by the train! We thought the town looked cute as we drove through. Conwy is a lovely town and we had a thunderstorm as we climbed the castle towers. Thank you for teaching us how to say Llandudno, the bus driver still teased us for getting it wrong. We also went to Bodnant Garden. North Wales is an amazing and beautiful part of the world.
We hope you had the best time. Yes sadly the trains are rubbish at the moment and there are lots of replacement buses! We're glad you enjoyed Conwy, it really is beautiful. Rhyl has the essential feature of a good seaside town and that is a huge sandy beach, it's good to see restoration work going on in the town and that's always helpful for the future. The lack of public toilets by the beach is something that surprised me in Italy and it seems it's the case in the UK too. Australian suburban and town beaches all have free public toilets, some with showers so it's annoying to me that other countries don't have them. The going into a bar or cafe and having to buy a drink creates a vicious cycle of wanting to use a toilet, I suppose it does increase business!
It has everything going for it, apart from the people in charge! It does have public toilets, but they cost and I'd spent all Wills money 🤣. Australia sounds amazing! Sometimes you find beaches with free toilets, most councils though charge! Cheers for watching 🍻

Thank you! How on earth does that even cost 5 million let alone go over by that! It's a joke! We we've been watching since they pulled down the old bistro and to see that in its place is a travesty!! Best advice with the drone is to just practise! The beach is a great place to have a go. The gulls don't seem bothered in Rhyl (they're airshow trained!!!). I used to be terrified at first, but Wills has got better and better the more we've flown it and now feels a lot more confident in it! Cheers for watching 🍻

Excellent Vlog, best I've seen about Rhyl. I used to go with family as a Kid in late 1960s early 70s. I used to call it the Welsh Las Vegas. Been on 2 or 3 Coach trips since 90s and early 2000s. After seeing this I'd Love to visit again. But not so keen on travelling now 61, which is why UA-cam is so Brilliant

Hi both, growing up in Gwynedd Rhyl always had a bad name but we were here not that long ago and think the harbour is beautiful with that bridge and the beach is so big and lovely. Marine Lake with the train is great too and the other nature reserve near Sainsburies is so peaceful . Loved the drone footage, interesting that the sky flyer has gone now. Rhyl is definitely getting sooo much better with all of the work that's going on. You had a nice day to show it off as well 🙂👍~ Anna
It's sad isn't it as it was quite the place in the 60's. We both have very happy memories as kids in Rhyl, even though it probably was declining then. I love it along that bit of coast, from Towyn through Rhyl, to Prestatyn & Talacre, we go every year for a few days in a caravan. We are actually going this Monday for 4 nights as it happens. We love the big market & fair in Towyn, lots of things to do. My favourite chippy is probably the one by the beach at Talacre. I’ve been going to Rhyl/ towyn since I was a baby, I’m now 40 .. definitely my favourite seaside towns in the uk 🇬🇧 just a shame they closed the old Rhyl sun centre, it was sooo much better than the new water park

I was interested in your fish and chips review. I find a consistent problem of chippies undercooking the chips! I really don't like anemic looking chips, so yours looked perfect to me!
Some would say they were over done, but they tasted great. Best fish n chips we have ever had was definitely Whitby! 🍻

Yay! Rach and Wills back in Rhyl!🙌. Love your positive attitude when visiting, you hone in on the good bits, and Rhyl clearly has loads of those, that beach being the main winner for us ⛱️❤ (Pete loved the beach drone shots Wills👌). Think it takes a long time for a place like this to get its groove back, and certainly the loss of the air show will be a huge blow this year, what a shame. But, the nature reserve and the little train were fab, and it was good to see people out and about enjoying the seaside. Fish and chips on the beach, doesn't get any better than that 😋. 2p or not 2p, that is the question, well, not in Wills case, as Rach had spent all his pee money on the 2p falls!😂🙈. We are at Rhyl this week the beech front is great but the shopping area is horrible most of the shops are closed and there are load of youths smoking weed and drugged up will not be going back

I'd also like to add ,every small convince store I went to I bought milk still in date however it was sour , I don't know where it's being stored before it gets to the sales fridge .but it needs looking into. I was glad to get on the train ,and be on my journey home.

I could not believe how much litter ,food scraps and glass lined the streets and promenade. Very sad . However you make the most of what you have ,I used the bus service slot .visited a few places .I could not walk the dogs .due to do much glass .so we did not spend much time in Rhyl .

Love it!!! Keeping it Rhyl! We'd love to have seen the lake at the turn of the century. Once they shut the fair that end of Rhyl does a death! Yep the monorail track was up for years, but it only operated for 6 weeks! Sadly the search for the cock of the north is on hold. Stayed in Rhyl twice. Once in 1980 on rugby tour .mass brawl in huge seaside pub (we werent involved) .second time a few years ago on a Saturday night .did a pub crawl .every pub felt like it was gonna kick off. Walked through it on Wales Coastal Path a couple of years ago and didnt even wear a crash helmet. Horrible place for me .much nicer places further along the coast. Excellent video though. I was down on Llyn Peninsula walking coastal path last week and enjoying the evening sunshine in Harlech and Criccieth.

Wouldn’t it be something if the council saw your video and gave the Marine lake sign a splash of blue paint. Chips looked tasty to me 😁 shame to see the aquarium close I bet that brought in some tourist. And a real shame to here about the air show too.

Well I’ve been here and can see what it must have been in its day. Clearly some money has gone out of this area, such a shame. I really enjoyed it there, beautiful beach and a lovely little town. I found everyone to be dare I say ‘old fashioned friendly’ nice manners and courtesy; something I really appreciate.
I’d say if you like to visit a small seaside town, lovely beach, nice food, somewhere a bit quieter than main stream. I think it would make for a nice summer holiday or day trip 👍
It was quite the place back in the day and as you said a little old fashioned, but in a lovely way. Sadly it's not so much now. As the coastal work is being done this year, there's not a lot going on on the front. Fingers crossed some of the businesses that have been forced to close this year will come back next year. The beach however is stunning! And always will be. We'll be back to review Rhyl again next summer. Here's hoping the airshow goes ahead next year as that was a huge blow in the community calender. Ah Rhyll, officially the second worst seaside resort in the UK, utter BS obvs. I can name five far worse ones within a few miles from me that make anywhere look bad. So much to love about Rhyll, the snobs doing the surveys that make the news havent a clue. This is a family friendly resort that has entertained people for 150 years and will do so for another 150 years. Full of traditional charm that will only appreciate over time. Blackpool, Rhyll and Skegness? Well I haven’t visited Rhyll yet, we are looking forward to that, but Blackpool and Skegness are top tier. Maybe not great for the locals but the people that visit? These are all FIRST CLASS destinations.
First class is probably a bit kind, but it certainly does have the makings of first class, sadly the council don't seem too proficient! We read this week that the new market (ikea flat pack) doesn't have anyone to run it!! So it's almost ready and is just going to stand there! We would love to travel back in time and see Rhyl in the early 1900's, it was quite the place to be. To be fair, there weren't that many empty units (less than wrexham for sure) and there were people on the high street. You could also say that it's the first sunny day since August, so that might have had something to do with it!! Cheers for watching 🍻

It always annoys me when these so called worst seaside town lists are published, wether it is Rhyl, Skegness, Great Yarmouth, Blackpool or whereever. People still visit and always will, yes they may not be the thriving towns of yesteryear but all still provide a great family holiday.
The sealife building is being demolished later this year sadly.
You can't take it away from Rhyls beach. It's beautiful and will always attract visitors. Fingers crossed the coastal work will finish soon and they can pop some cafes and food outlets back along the front. Cheers for watching 🍻

Little local shops always struggle to stay open nowadays.

Hope you had a good time. The aquarium had to close as the animals were getting stressed by the building noise. They've all been rehomed and now it's closed. To be honest it needs with knocking down and replacing or a lot of work on it. The town did feel more vibrant and alive and lots of the shops were open (a far cry from a lot of British town centres these days!). The tidal range along that coast is massive! Contrary to popular belief we don't eat that many fish n chips!! Just on videos. Nope mercury levels and fish are not a thing here, I don't think. 🍻

You have vinegar on your chips too? Awesome. Why just last week I went to the footy and had a cup of chips with a big splash of vinegar. Delish. The only problem with vinegar chips (that reminds of the show Prisoner - called Cell Block H in your part of the world - and one of the main characters was called Vinegar Tits), where was I? Oh yeah, vinegar chips. While you're eating them you soon find all the micro paper cuts on your finger tips. Stings like buggery.|

The Susan seagulls are a menace! Wonder if there will be a significant lot more of them with no airshow! Yep fish n chips, the food of the gods! Wow prisoner cell block H, that's a blast from the past. Famed for its wobbly set every time someone slammed a door! The worst seaside town is apparently Blackpool this year!
