It doesn't actually tell if your lying or not just detects changes in your body so it can't be used in court same with a dog but even worse the owner can lead the dog at any time... There should be no noise touching or gestir9 of any kind done by an officer and in the end the dog can't detect wether or not there are actually drugs in the car.

People here complaining about dogs are the same people who carry drugs in their car. If the dog detects something and they search your vehicle and they find nothing, at the very worst, they waste 10 minutes of your time. That, or they find drugs which is the whole point. Any damages done by the cops can be reimbursed, albeit with a little legal work, but if they find nothing during the search then the law is on your side and can almost always get money for damages. K9 units aren't perfect but absolutely necessary.

Few months ago I was pulled over for a broken tag light. Started off routine, gave them license, registration, insurance no problem. Cop goes back to his car for a few min. Shortly after, 2 more cop cars pull up behind me with lights on. When he comes back to the window, he wants to pull me out and search the car for whatever reason. They had no probable cause, I was not impaired in any way, no smell of marijuana or alcohol, no drugs or weapons in the car, no warrants, not leaving a "known drug neighborhood", not acting suspicious as I was doing nothing wrong and had nothing to hide, just was simply driving to the gas station to get gas and head to a friends house. When I refused the search, they told me they had a K-9 unit here and ran the perimeter of my car. Cops told me the dog "alerted" them and they will be searching the car. The dog did not bark or give any indication whatsoever. They searched the car head to toe for about 20 min and found nothing. Sorry for the long story but my point is, I know first hand they will tell you the dog "alerted" them no matter what.

Honestly, I really just hate it when they pull you over for a tag light fix it ticket when they can just issue a warning and save you $25 to buy a new bulb to replace it. You need to research the laws and court precedents. The dog is not searching the car. It is essentially plain view for the dog, the dog just has a better nose than humans. The legal issue is when an officer detains the vehicle for too long, waiting on a K9 officer to arrive. This stop is irrelevant since the K9 was already there. If the K9 is there, no PC or reasonable suspicion is necessary for it to sniff around the car. It's no different than plain view. A cop can look through the windows all he wants. The Supreme Court ruled that drivers don't have a reasonable expectation of privacy in this scenario.

I thought about something like this cause what did Yogi alert to if the guy had nothing in his car? And if he’s the only one driving it and cleans it weekly (like he says) then there wouldn’t have been residue at all for the dog to possibly sniff. And I’ve never seen a time where the dog doesn’t alert to a vehicle at all (provided this is the first time on the show I’ve seen someone without drugs, but still).
