I am 56 years old and just now learning French. I have already learned German and Spanish to intermediate levels. I am finding it rather easy and pleasant to learn French! I find the grammar easier than Spanish (and definitely easier than German), and, strangely, French seems to remind me more of English than either Spanish or German. Pronunciation is not a problem for me in French and it's more pleasant to speak it than Spanish or German. My goal is to be at least B1 or maybe B2 in French by the time I'm 60. Sounds like a realistic goal. Learning languages is so fun and rewarding! This channel is a breath of fresh air! Greetings from Montana, United States.

French may seem easy or pleasant, but if you are speaking German to a German and you make a mistake they will continue to understand you. If you are conversing with a French speaker in French, and you make a mistake in gender or grammar, a veil of incomprehension falls over their eyes, they cease to recognize that you are speaking a human language, but rather growling and rumbling like an inarticulate animal. At that point they may try to bridge the gap between species and help you out with their few words of English.

Haha. Yeah, I am a woman. (Paula). I have to admit that hellbooks has a point. I think I'll skip French and focus on Spanish and Dutch as I see a more welcoming and forgiving culture. I've already experienced the arrogance of Germans not happy to help a person in the beginner learning stages.

Je ne savais pas qu'on pouvait utiliser "en" pour remplacer un complément de lieu (comme dans le cas 3). J’avais tendance à répondre "oui, je viens de là" ou simplement "oui". On n’arrête jamais d’apprendre😄

Je connais plusieurs de ces façons de les utiliser, mais j'avais incertitude en utilisant «en» pour «d'où», et également «y» pour «à quoi». Merci pour me vérifier que ces usages sont aussi vraiment corrects. J'ai fait une connexion fort entre «y» et les endroits et une entre «en» et les objets, mais il me faut ajouter les autres sens à chaque.
Et pour te remercier encore plus, mon exemple du negatif: Les meilleures chaînes de français sur UA-cam? Il n'y en a qu'une!

L'ordre des mots est comme ça au futur proche à la forme négative, il n'y a pas vraiment d'explication 😊

"avoir tendance à" it's an expression to say what someone tends to do. "a" is the conjugated form of "avoir" for the subject pronoun "on"

Si on dit "est un complément de lieu… " ne fera que provoquer encore plus de confusion chez les apprenants. Et une telle traduction en anglais n’a généralement aucun sens. Essayer de le préciser davantage avec des termes grammaticaux précis (un complément qui complète le prédicat d'une phrase) n'aidera tout simplement pas beaucoup de gens qui sont embrouillés par la terminologie grammaticale. Malheureusement, l'enseignement du français est criblé de cela, plutôt que de dire aussitôt quelque chose de simple comme : " y " remplace le lieu (par ex. "la piscine" pour ne pas avoir à le répéter à chaque fois). Je ne comprends pas pourquoi cela se produit. Personne ne se soucie de "COD, COI" et du reste. C'est censé être du "français facile", pas du français comme on le trouve dans 999 manuels de grammaire, ce qui est la raison pour laquelle ils sont venus regarder une vidéo intitulée "français facile" !
