Benjamin have you heard of "Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment. Because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it"? or "Simplicity is a difficult thing to achieve" by Charlie Chaplin? People are complicated animals...
Not just what Lai said, but you CANNOT just assume stakeholders have "common sense". Your job isn't to create designs and do research, it is to implement those designs AFTER the stakeholders "okay" it, which in itself can be a very mentally taxing process.
