There will always be a need for a CNC programmer, but their roles will change as technology improves. Because of this, the world may need less of them, but the ones that are left will need to be even more skilled to implement the new technology.

Need for programmers will always be there just maybe with technological improvements there will be need of new skill set's but probably wont change much in near future.
