Now, This Car is a 2012 Model With The (PWG) Waste gate, If You Go into BMW They will make you believe you (CANNOT) Have Launch control coded and programmed to ANY Models before 2014, Which Is Simply not the case at all !!
They will have you believe this can only be done if you have the (EWG) Waste gate, Which Is Total Crap. I can activate this regardless of year or model, And Most will not even be aware of this. BMW Didn't turn this feature active prior to 2014 Because it was still under testing.

Got myself a used 2012 550i M sport today for a great price sad to know ill have to upgrade it for launch control but was wondering is it really worth the hassle? If i am fairly good at self launching? Also was considering upgrading the ecu.

@@cristianvlasceanuIt has to be an f20 or f21 BMW M120d for it to have LC If your does not have the M pack it does not come with LC
I have a 2014 550i Msport, so I'm guessing this works on mine since I have both Sport and Sport+ modes. I remember watching Matt Watson from CarWow saying he was able to pull quicker times in Bimmers by either not using LC, or not using the paddle shifters because if you miss time shifts, the car will bog.

Great video... while engaging the break... launch control. Is it a case of simply releasing the break to launch? With you foot still on the accelerator?
Yes. These days, many cars with electronic LC rely on the brake. Cars with forced induction benefit hugely from it. Personally, even though some setups can be a bit complicated, they do make it a fun and fairly easy way to launch how you would on a drag strip. Cars on the strip are usually setup with a line lock or a trans brake and a reverse lockout. All of these setups are designed to boost engine production and engage the drive train seamlessly when the car launches. Easiest way to do this is to "brake boost" which is what modern-day launch control actually is.

I’ve used Launch control on my 335d f31 about 4 times on different occasions, 0-60 in 4.8seconds is thrilling 😎 but the last time I launched there was a real chemical type burning smell from the engine bay, I don’t think it was rubber / tyres and so possibly clutch, I’ve never bothered with it since, not sure I want a clutch replacement service bill from bmw!

You're not supposed to do it many times you need to let it cool down after one launch, they even mentioned not to over do it or do it at all since the clutch will wear down quicker

You can indeed my friend, tell me do you have extended instrument cluster ? If not can you find out your I Step level for me ? And I can tell you if you can OR you may need to change it.
