First of, Rap and Rock are completely different. You can't compare the two. One is more instrumental, the other is more lyrical. Snoop has influenced many rappers to come, he's one of rap's forefathers for gods sake.
And I say he's very talented being that he's a rapper with one of the best flows out there. As I stated before, one of the forefathers of modern rap. It is NOT easy to write a song. Especially when you do more writing than maybe any other American/Western genre of music (Except maybe Country). He is a good writer, not great, but good and has one of the best flows out there.

Like I said, writing rap and having a good flow does not come by easy. It is a talent.
Live beats? Live beats??? For the first 10-15 years of his career he worked with Dre, Pharrell and many other great producers, who did a great job of making beats for his songs. Have you really not heard any of Snoops songs before like, what, 2006? He doesn't have those producers now on his independent label, but come on.
At the same time you're forgetting something. He was still in his 20's when his first couple albums came out and if you know anything about 20 year old guys, they aren't extremely mature. Sure, there are many exceptions but this guy saw what sold well and he went along with it. It got him MILLIONS. But is he still rapping this way? No. Look at his song.
And if you listened to ANY rap before he started doing it, you'd know it wasn't and wouldn't be the same if he wasn't there. He was a large part of his record label, Deathrow, a label that wouldn't have succeeded as much if not for him. He changed rap. Him along with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. Don't deny that.

I was so disappointed when this track didn't make the cut for the final track list. I thought this and "territory" with Brotha Lynch both should have been on there. Especially seeing some weaker tracks made the cut.

Sometimes I love the way an artist has changed & other times I don't. I guess I'm probably biased towards him as well because it was all coinciding with certain events in my life & was music I really enjoyed at that time. I'm interested to see what he does next though. Was disappointed when I read that the rumors of Em having a new album titled "Roots" this year were false. The title kind of gave me the impression he may go back to his older sound which would have been interesting to see how well he was able to do that.
