Love the episode, like all the earlier ones. One thing I found very interesting - they call a makeshift stove (mentioned at 12:08) a "Sigiri". I'm from India and guess what we call a stove in Hindi - a "Sigri" or "Sigdi" and in Marathi (my mother tongue) we call it a "Shegdi". Amazing to find similar words for the same thing in cultures so far away!
I wouldn't be surprised if the word Sigiri, actually came from the Hindu word, considering how influential Indian culture has been in Uganda. For instance we call tea , Chai, yes, that's our traditional word for it, and on other parts of East Africa. We also prepare it similar to Indian Chai. We also eat samosas and chapatis which are undeniably rooted in Indian Samosa & Parantha origin.
I have so much to say but to round it all up DAAAAAAMMMMMNNNN I definitely want to go to Uganda. I also love how you two have opposing views of this one ruler from the 70s and not only settled but actually reacted in a very comfortable relaxing way with little to no ax-to-grind undertone.
Finally after many years of waiting, my country is here. Great work Barbs and team. Uganda is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, though small in size, but has a lot to see, lake Victoria(World's second largest lake by area), Mount Rwenzori(3rd tallest mountain and the only with glacia in Africa), Source of the Nile(World longest river), Africa's Big five animals, 10% of the world's birds, Mountain Gorillas, Rain forests, 20 primate species, over 1200 butterflies and so much more. Interesting that my last name means Fried Grasshoppers in Uganda. There is even a whole town called Senene. I wonder if there was a migration down to South Africa 🇿🇦 in the past 🤔.
31:39 For Ukraine, please mention Ochis' coffee eyeglasses: Ochis takes used coffee grounds and makes eyeglass frames out of them. Art should also mention the pole-vault dominance of Sergey Bubka.
Honestly, the discussion about Idi Amin, who expelled several minorities and ordered executions for others shows a lot about how easily autocrats can sweep their crimes under the rug. Kimi literally sees Idi Amin as Hitler (whether that’s justified or not I can’t say, but he definitely used public executions as a brutal method of suppression or even cleansing, and Wikipedia says that he is “considered to be one of the most brutal despots in modern world history) but for Pihon, that’s all good because Amin brought home the body of their king. That’s it. Not gonna dispute the importance of having the remains be returned to them, but apparently that’s ALL it took for the king’s people to completely support Amin and his gruesome ways. Goes to show how easy people are sometimes; give one kid a small cookie, and he won’t mind you breaking another’s nose for lunch money. He’ll just turn around and eat his cookie, pretending he didn’t see anything (or worse yet, acting like him getting the cookie was more important than the victim getting his nose broken for some bucks).
Great comment. Kinda sad that this episode has a whole minute dedicated to defending a mass murderer. His perspective was really interesting but not at all rational or ethical.
@@christophermccandless8352 yeah… Hat off to Kimi though for keeping calm during that part, I honestly don’t know if I would’ve been able to do the same
its unfortunate that Idi amin is portrayed by the Western media as being barbaric simply because of his stance towards the continued exploitation of Uganda by foreigners. many Ugandans are ill-informed by his political opponents but statistically he's the only Ugandan president who actually helped Uganda develop. I'm not trying to take away his inhumane actions but the incumbent president has done even worse. most people are biased because he was a Muslim and someone who actually wanted to develop his country after the disastrous colonialism. The Ugandan Airlines which has now been privatized was started during his reign, and the Mulago hospital was built by him. lets not let our bias hide the real facts of a person. He was the only Ugandan president who actually did something for Ugandans.
Jesus I felt that deep breath at the end there for barbs, it's not the video itself that's gonna get controversial, it's the godforsaken comment section when that video comes out.
You should do an episode on Antarctica. I know there’s not much down there but I don’t know the geography of it like at all other than there’s ice down there and I’m sure most other people don’t either! It he really cool to have a short geography now filler week video on where the amount where the mountain ranges and all the biggest scientific research stations are
2:59 The way you pronounced "Arua" 🤣 Thanks for covering our country Uganda 🇺🇬 As far as ethnicity is concerned in Uganda my blood is diverse. Of course the law is that you follow your father's tribe. My dad is a Muganda which is part of the Bantu ethnic group. Both my dad's parents (May their souls rest in peace) are Baganda. The diversity comes from my mum's side. My mum's dad (maternal grandfather) is a Japadhola from Eastern Uganda who are part of the luo ethnic group. And as you guessed it, she follows her dad's tribe making her a Japadhola. However, my mother's mum (maternal grandmother) is a Munyoro from Western Uganda. The Banyoro are part of the Bantu ethnic group. Just recently I found out that despite my maternal grandfather being a Japadhola by virtue of following his dad's tribe which is also Japadhola, my maternal grandfather's mum was actually a Mugwere. The Bagwere are part of the Bantu ethnic group. My blood is just diverse: Buganda blood, Japadhola blood, Bunyoro blood and Bugwere blood
Should've also mentioned Yoweri Museveni, the current president of Uganda, who had been serving since 1986, and as a result scrapping age and term limits to allow him to continue his rule.
My best friend from high school is a wildlife photographer from Japan 🇯🇵 and he’s working in Uganda 🇺🇬 as right now so this episode is very amazing scene he’s there for that Gold-Crested Bird
I got the opportunity to stay in Uganda for a month and a half last summer for study abroad. It was amazing! We mostly stayed in a campsite in Kibale National park where we went to Fort Portal from time to time to buy groceries. We unfortunately didn’t get to see the capital but the river safari at Queen Elizabeth National park made up for it. The food kinda reminded me of some of my food (i come from an afro-latino background so lots of plantains and rice). I would def go back if i can
I love how in every episode, you bring out the joy and pride each country has in its culture, regardless of whatever trouble exists in its past (or present). You definitely did that again here! I hope you'll bring that attitude towards Ukraine as well. There's plenty to talk about besides the Russian invasion that makes it unique and strong.
so the dude have a soft spot for Idi Amin for being "patriotic" and all about "Uganda for Ugandans" yet he lives 8000km away in another people countries.. how stereotypical, the dictators fans and nationalist live abroad while minorities (and the populace at large) suffer under the cruel regime !

I agree, it's cool!
The big ones aren't any less interesting either.
Amazing episode as always
I'm from Uganda. I've followed this channel for so long. Glad you've done Uganda justice.
You really have a beautiful country. You must keep it. Unfortunately, we didn't save ours.
Love Ugandans much love from Kenya
31:39 For Ukraine, please mention Ochis' coffee eyeglasses: Ochis takes used coffee grounds and makes eyeglass frames out of them. Art should also mention the pole-vault dominance of Sergey Bubka.
His real name is Serhiy. Sergey is a ruSSian version.
The Ugandan Airlines which has now been privatized
was started during his reign, and the Mulago hospital was built by him. lets not let our bias hide the real facts of a person. He was the only Ugandan president who actually did something for Ugandans.
@@princenasri2112he couldve done that without the public executions
this series has been going on for so long i cant actually see it coming to an end. like theres no life without another geography now episode
Thanks for educating the world about our country ...much love from UGANDA

Jesus I felt that deep breath at the end there for barbs, it's not the video itself that's gonna get controversial, it's the godforsaken comment section when that video comes out.
You should do an episode on Antarctica. I know there’s not much down there but I don’t know the geography of it like at all other than there’s ice down there and I’m sure most other people don’t either!
It he really cool to have a short geography now filler week video on where the amount where the mountain ranges and all the biggest scientific research stations are
Its not an UN-recognised state, so he wont do it, but he might do it after Zimbabwe
2:59 The way you pronounced "Arua" 🤣
Thanks for covering our country Uganda 🇺🇬
As far as ethnicity is concerned in Uganda my blood is diverse.
AWESOME guests! God bless you on the next one, brother...
Love from Indonesia to all Ugandan People! 🇺🇬 🇮🇩
I want to visit Uganda so badly. It's such an interesting county.
You are welcome
Will be glad to take you around the country, we have a lot for you to see.
I would def go back if i can
Probably the most charismatic co-hosts so far, great speaking skills. Love to Uganda 🇺🇬 from Costa Rica! 🇨🇷
I've been waiting for this episode for so long
Thanks for the presentation 👌
Love from Uganda 🇺🇬
Love you Uganda 🇺🇬 from Ethiopia one Africa 🙏💪🇪🇹
31:38 it seems Paul is not looking forward to the next episode.
so the dude have a soft spot for Idi Amin for being "patriotic" and all about "Uganda for Ugandans" yet he lives 8000km away in another people countries..
how stereotypical, the dictators fans and nationalist live abroad while minorities (and the populace at large) suffer under the cruel regime !
His personal opinion😅
Idi Amin isn't widely liked by Ugandans he was a ruthless dictator that was exiled from Uganda.
Love Uganda from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤️🇺🇬
Love you guys from Haiti 🇭🇹
also Joshua Cheptegei from Uganda has the WORLD RECORD in the 5000m and 10,000m for track and field!
