It's not surprising though, because Sonic racers are typically innovative in several areas. So many people downplay the series so much they forget and/or fail to notice some of the amazing attention to detail Sonic's racers or other games have. And the dialogue system is just one unique feature compared to other kart racers. Way back to Sonic Adventure 1&2 even had (has) idle animated dialogue tied to the level they're on, in addition to other things.
Admittedly, I heard something different than what the dialog box says. Instead of as always I heard as*hole...not sure how though. Yes I did censor it in this case.

Better yet, don't have him say it at all. There's more than one way to insult someone. Tails could have said something along the lines of "eat my dust" or "catch ya later," but no, the writers just had to go with *_that_* option, because they're either unfamiliar with Shadow's history or they just don't care if it's out of character for Tails to say such a thing to one of his friends and not regret it. Possibly both.

I love how everyone loves to trash on pontac and graff era of writing, yet this is arguably the best and funniest writing in the series, and was written/localised by the two
You have a point, but at the sametime you can't ignore the decently high number of stupid lines alongside the good ones. It could have been so much better than it is.

Their dialogues is ok but their stories overall are so boring nad lack dramatic effect.
It's almost as if Pontac and Graff writing is "brief quips in a spinoff game" level at best and not suited for an entire mainline game's story.

I like the call back to 2006 when Blaze was in the future with Silver, but in the franchises fixed cannon of Blaze being a princess from the Sol dimension like she originally was, does raise some questions. How do you even maintain a friendship if you need to travel back in time a few centuries and they need to cross dimensions to meet up?
