I was looking to buy one of your cc t shirts, but only lists one shade of red. Quite clearly watching your videos there is at least 16 shades of red available.
Clog is designed to be not as flat as some logs, making it more easy to grade. Thus if you slap a similar lut or grade on Clog as other cameras, you will appear to have less dynamic range, which isn't really the case. I see many parts of this video where the EOS-R image seems to have more dynamic range, and it seems to go back and forth depending on the profile or grade.
Hey! Thanks for this fantastic comparison! I've been looking for the perfect vlogging camera for quite some time now and so far you have the most comparisons or probably the most detailed/useful ones out there! I've been checking out others but your stuff is the most helpful and least ads like on youtube. Thank you Camera Conspiracies! Love the Humor!
If you buy any of these through my affiliate links, a Chupacabra will pose for you on your next shoot. Thanks to www.cameracanada.com for the EOS R loaner! Let's all go to Camera Canada! Fuji XT4 with 18-55mm f2.8-4 amzn.to/2Bn2gh9 18mm f2 amzn.to/2zOdsDb 23mm f2 amzn.to/37KsAhm Canon EOS R amzn.to/3gZWTFa Canon RF 35mm f1.8 amzn.to/3dFbLql Canon RF 15-35mm f2.8 (on sale!) amzn.to/2NzqkA5
As someone who worked with Canon and Nikon cams all throughout college, when I compare my shots with Panasonic, all I can think of is 'Dyizus, why in F are my shots shaking?' Like even now, when I know someone is vlogging with a non-IBIS camera, I can feel the micro jitters, the freaking earthquake in each step. Once you experience IBIS, there's no going back.
The Fuji's autofocus snaps quite a bit, which isn't great in video (I would think it's fantastic for stills) but for a majority of your tests I would give the win to Fuji again. The stabilization was definitely better, the exposure was better, dynamic range was better. Oh, the Fuji background back in the studio had better toneh too. I'm still not sold on Canon's color science. Not to say it's bad... I guess I'm just not a fan. For a majority of it, it's good, but I feel like it does something odd with skin tones. Maybe a little too much red, I'm not sure.
Thanks for testing the RF 35mm in this - I use one with my RP and the AF is a little slow, wasn’t sure if it was the lens or the RP. Also, about the EF 20mm 2.8 you mentioned - it looks great and focuses fast but the focusing motor is so loud I wouldn’t be surprised if your lav mic picked it up lol! I can send it to you if you want to test it out, let me know!
Canon doesn´t has a bad dynamic range per se, its just very contrasty this is one of the reasons why its image quality is very appealing to a lot of people. The problem is a lot of people do not know how to make a canon to look good. Most Vloggers weren´t photographers and they lack the experience. The exposure is way to high in every video. Just put the exposure a bit down ( my one is on -1), also turn automatic expose off, but stay in auto mode it will still auto expose and choose smart perspectives and magic will happen. Sorry for my english..
I thought the fuji was the canon 😅 This videos is just another proof why full frame is not needed for vlogging. Even the Sony ZV-1 outperformed a full frame camera in some scenarious! So the perfect vlogging camera should have a smaler sensor than full frame and focus on good ibis!
I thought the Canon was the Fuji because the Canon looked so much better! I assumed it would be the Fuji. The Fuji was flat and had a hazy look to it. The Canon colour was better too.
Could it be that the Fuji autofocuses better in 1080p? The processor might be overchallenged in 4k. I've seen some videos where the Fuji autofocuses pretty good, so that might make a difference.
YES!!!! STAGGERING THEM WAS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD REVIEW FOCUS WISE. I DON'T KNOW WHY NO ONE ELSE I'VE SEEN DOES THAT! I HOPE YOU STARTED A THING. And your timing, of the actions and staggering was perfect for looking back and forth.
I identified the Fuji almost directly because it was actually a bit more aqua and darker greens. Sure, that's a colorgrade thing as well, but Fuji usually has a very specific green that I really like and almost immediately jump onto when seen. Of course you could match things, but Fuji still gives itself away with it more often than not
I am having a *horrible, miserable, depressing weekend.* But I see this video and between 3:55 and 4:15 - I laughed my ass off. I watched it *3 times* and I laughed so hard, I had tears in the corner of my eyes. The random weirdness yabbering. "You are eye tracking. I appreciate that." Then he flips it for no reason. "Fuji does it as well. Its not an advantage". So he compliments and then insults a second later on the same topic. And then the "there is too many people are this park. I am going to leave." I watched that shit again. And I'm laughing so hard, it hurts my stomach. Wow. This made my day. Thank you for the real-world comparisons that no one else is doing. Its humorous and helpful. Godspeed, Mr. Vegetable Police.
Both should of been put in Aperture Priority to see how well auto settings perform. Most creators won’t let highlights get that bad so it’s hard to see which one really looks cleaner.
South African speaking here, I cannot fathom leaving a bag with camera equipment in it unattended. Should I move to Canada, I think I should move to Canada. Can say "out" all cool too. So that's nice. And shop at Camera Canada, thank you Camera Canada
It looked like a quiet park scene. You can evaluate the scene before leaving your bag behind. I'd do the same in the US if the park is so sparsely populated and I'd always have a look at where everybody is, just in case!
I’m a photographer-don’t say it! Too old and set in my ways for these new-fangled contraptions, and I love toneh too much to change. I watch for the humor, especially the boardroom meetings, which is a nice escape from the rest of the world, and I enjoy the music-do you create your own music? Especially good in this episode. BTW my cat looks like your alien-in real life too. Yes, I took the photo, but her name is not Stacey.
Another hilarious video. Looks like the Fuji did better on this challenge. I’m surprised that I liked the canon color in some scenes. It looks like FujiFilm has better dynamic range. Canon seems sharper but Keep up the the funny informative camera videos. You crack me up bro .
✖️ my new favorite camera comparison. Fan of the channel. I picked up the XT4 a few weeks ago. Truly love it. But I agree....one nasty firmware update for AF and IBIS and it’ll be a stunning camera. Those two features just need a tweeek.
Yeah bro I own both the Xt3 and xt4, and the Fuji log dynamic range blows all my Sony’s and Canon cameras out of the water. It’s almost RAW like how much I can bring back shadows and highlights.
I preferred the Canon up until the very end where you were back in the studio. In the controlled , more still, environment Fuji really shines. I have a feeling an update will fix a lot of stuff. Maybe. But the Canon is excellent for sure. The next version of that Canon might just by "the perfect camera." No, I'm lying of course. Your quest will lead you to madness. Guaranteed
Well Done. I agree with you regarding the staggering of the test shots you performed, much easier to visually compare. I think I prefer the look of the vlog from yesterday with the G9 vs these two for the walking and talking parts of your videos... Stabilization to me would be at the top next to ease of use and convince. Thanks for your efforts.
Dare I say, I think I prefer the Canon faithful colours over eterna straight out of camera. Would be cool to see you try to do a slight grade on eterna to see how it can look.
This dude is hilarious. Glad to see he's still making videos. I think my next camera might be a Canon or Sony. I appreciate my Panasonic G7 but that slow autofocus, poor stabilization, and crop factor has worn me down as a creator. It's still one of the best buys at $500 and the 4K quality is impressive for the price.
Like i know for a fact if you use ND the EOSR will like better BUT the xt4 gets you there without extra crap to carry. That dynamic range of Fuji is CRAZY GOOD.
Dynamic range has nothing to do with sensor size--heard this before? Dynamic range is defined for a single photosite, i.e. a pixel and therefore is independent of sensor size. You might also want to check if boost mode is the best for video. The manual says to turn off boost for panning, but I am not sure how they define this for video....
You have 2 things going on here... 1: First part with canon outdoors and blown highlights,... Sensor sensitivity shows the canons dynamic range curve is very compressed S curve,.. You need more subject lighting to bring outdoors into subjects range,.. 2nd part is where you did the indoor LUT test @14:44 ... You can clearly see here the Canon looks better and has more “Visible” DR. Notice the lightbulb 💡 on the lamp,. The highlights are more visible... The shadows are better... The Fuji is not that far off,. .... I don’t think you can go wrong with either 🤷🏻♂️. Sensor sizes is a hype, but on the larger sensor, you can clip the highlights faster..that’s a fact.. There’s still a massive amount of broadcast cameras using 2/3 inch sensors and glass,. It’s easy to zoom and focus,. The bigger the sensor the bigger the headache,. ****Although for cinematic purposes****,. Nothing beats a well exposed LF sensor/image IQ.. The image looks good because it’s only purpose is to serve users with high budgets that understand that lighting is everything (usable light)
The Fuji clearly has the better dynamic range in that scenario, not sure what you're seeing lol. Canon is clipping that lamp, Fuji isn't. You can see the shade on the Fuji, the Canon is just pure white light.
Camera Conspiracies yes,. That’s exactly what I’m trying to explain.. you are loosing DR due to sensor clipping on the canon..... the Fuji is not clipping its range 😇😇...
I'm sick of looking for a new camera, gonna cryogenically freeze myself until canon releases an ef-s mount mirrorless with a decent viewfinder, flippy screen, sharp 4k and decent ibis - see you in 3063!
C-Log tends to crush shadows a lot more than other Log profiles, from all the UA-cam videos I've seen. Don't know why, maybe Canon wants you to raise shadows manually and purposely underexpose? Or maybe it's just poor dynamic range. Yeah, definitely dynamic range.
Dynamic range looks ever so slightly better on the Canon. You could see it in the grass being lit with direct sunlight. It could resolve some of the details, but, in the backlit test Fuji looked like it has better dynamic range.
I can’t really see the advantages for full frame for your scenario tbh. Micro seem to do the trick for you in the oly or maybe a light apsc. I am still surprised that the canon colors looks like the Fuji velvia mode. But that “shirt isn’t red” is bs from Fuji. Not sure if you seen it last time I commented, but the Fuji has Custom buttons in the Q-menu and you can put slow record on a swipe. From what I have seen right now, for your vlogging style: 1. Olympus 2. Fuji or Panasonic (would give the edge to Fuji) 3. Sony zv 1 or Panasonic. If it’s stationary: 1. Sh1 or canon 2. Fuji 3. Micro cameras
Very interesting review; my vote is for Fuji. I like the lighter weight gear. Have you done any videos on Fuji dynamic range versus dynamic range priority? There aren’t many videos on these features anywhere. Just an idea for another time. Thanks for the laughs; you’re pretty funny!
Stabilization on the Fuji was far better than the Canon. Color was better on the Fuji and for some reason, even the DR looked a bit better on the Fuji. Even when there was exposure stepping during extreme lighting changes on the Fuji, it wasn't that bad. This was not much of a contest to be honest. The funny thing is the AF performance you got on the Fuji indoors (which was excellent) is exactly what most XT4 owners have experienced with it both outdoors & indoors. That's why it's been so frustrating for XT4 owners to watch some of your previous videos and why some of us thought you had to be doing something wrong if the camera and/or lens wasn't defective. It's also important to note that the XT4 AF is better with 4K60p as opposed to 4K30p.
Fuji XT4 hunts in a lot of videos, it's not just mine. I had no problems with the XT3, I'm still trying to figure it out. There shouldn't be so many deal breaker modes or lenses that ruin the AF. No one is going to film a vlog in 4k 60p lol.
Camera Conspiracies - I don’t waste my time vlogging. ;). But if you want the best performance, why don’t you try it. I’m always after the look of ‘reality’ so I always shoot in 4K60p.
Hey guys, want people's opinions on here, do you guys think Olympus is still worth buying? Was thinking of grabbing a used em1ii with either the 8mm f1.8 or the 10-25f1.7 to use at weddings. But after the announcement I'm not sure it's worth it? Or was I on the wrong track to begin with?
The Fuji seems to have much better exposure, dynamic range and stabilization. Generally more pleasing to the eye. But the Cannon is doable and has better color science...it does red right
Fuji's ISO is almost a stop off from everyone else. ISO 1600 is ISO800 on other cameras. So it seems like fuji has a stop more dynamic range when it doesn't.
The EOS R isn't actually full-frame in 4k video. It's actually more cropped than the Fuji. The EOS R has a 1.74x crop, whereas the Fuji is 1.5x at 4k up to 30p 1.77x at 60p.
The biggest finding is Canon 15-35IS can even do vlog without lens IS, just digital. Maybe Canon's digital IS is lens dependant or the extra weight of that lens is the key to stabilisation. To my eyes, Canon digital IS only +15-35 is better than Fuji IBIS. Fuji's AF tracking is definitely lens dependant on the other hand, 18f2 not good, 14f2.8 terrible, kit zoom are far better especially the 15-45XC cheapo.
Both Gene Nagata and peter Mckinnon use Canon Eos R and 15 to 35 "toneh " 2.8 to vlog.....in addition peter mckinnon also uses the canon 1dx mark ii and later iii to vlog.....and here is Kasey complaining that system is too heavy....Man everyone has their own choices and systems.....their is no system that fits everybody.....
I would love to see a Panasonic S1H stabe and autofocus tests compared to S1, XT4, whatever. S1H is suppose to be the king of stabe. Also yeah its better to stagger the AF tests.
Yes, staggering is the better way and I totally noticed you switched it up. The EOS R is not worth it. It’s not better enough. I liked the Olympus and the little Sony best.
Staggered AF test footage is better. Fuji grip does suck. Fuji footage looks better and has more DR. (Canon’s sensors are a decade behind the Sony-made sensors used by Fuji in terms of DR. Sony APS-C > Canon full frame.) Canon DPAF is awesome.
I was looking to buy one of your cc t shirts, but only lists one shade of red. Quite clearly watching your videos there is at least 16 shades of red available.
I like the fuji eterna version myself. Orange.
I prefer pale red... root chakra color. Gives you energy.
Demon lut red shirt is the best shirt
That's why I went with black
I could tell immediately. Cannon has the shittiest dynamic range ever.
There is No Scene where dynamic range is equally tested. Its just an exposure thing and which mode is switched on (10bit or 8bit).
Clog is designed to be not as flat as some logs, making it more easy to grade. Thus if you slap a similar lut or grade on Clog as other cameras, you will appear to have less dynamic range, which isn't really the case. i'm not interested in any of these cameras, i'm just here for the commentary
The canon is so soft compared to the Fuji as well. So much more color and detail in the Fuji. The Fuji image just looks so much better.
Me: What are highlights?
Canon: blown.
Damn, Fuji and Canon has the same color which is Superb! Sometimes I think they are together as a company..
FUJI + CANON = FUJINON 😍
The Fuji's autofocus snaps quite a bit, which isn't great in video (I would think it's fantastic for stills) but for a majority of your tests I would give the win to Fuji again. The stabilization was definitely better, the exposure was better, dynamic range was better.

That lamp behind is a DXO benchmark for dynamic range tests.
Just grabbed a Ringer T shirt from your store bro, keep up the quality content!
Yes, the staggered focus side-by-side test was actually very helpful!
It made it far easier to compare the speed of aquisition.
fujifilm says: blue
cannon: did you mean white?
I am having a *horrible, miserable, depressing weekend.* But I see this video and between 3:55 and 4:15 - I laughed my ass off. 14:06 This is something that surprised me about Fuji when I first got my X-H1. I absolutely love the colors.
Reminds me of my Nikon D700 always a bit on the warmer side of color spectrum.
South African speaking here, I cannot fathom leaving a bag with camera equipment in it unattended. Should I move to Canada, I think I should move to Canada. Can say "out" all cool too. So that's nice. And shop at Camera Canada, thank you Camera Canada

This is the most hilarious camera review I've ever seen XD yet super helpful!!!
I swear this guy is an actual Vlogging tester😂 Love it
Ok, this is one of my favorite reviews ever. Of anything.
Since you asked, I prefer the tests to be in sync, not staggered. Keep up the great work!
That hip hop beat was the best bit of music you have made.
Having fuji's autofocus to fast, but least responsive (what you were doing for your test) is the worst mode for fuji's autofocus 😅
That sky on the Canon lol. Most crippled full frame mirrorless for sure.
Staggered autofocus test was a good idea. Nice job.
Yeah bro I own both the Xt3 and xt4, and the Fuji log dynamic range blows all my Sony’s and Canon cameras out of the water. It’s almost RAW like how much I can bring back shadows and highlights.

Nice beats in the af rap btw. More songs in these videos please ✌️👌✌️👌
Yeah the Fuji 23/2 does actually have a wider FOV than the 23/1.4, for ... reasons?
There is a shit ton of barrel distorsion in the fujicrons to which fuji has applied a shit ton of software calibration.
I think the Fuji won in ever respect other than AF. Like you said they will get the AF right via FW updates. Cheers.
Look up flexible LED panels to light your studio! They’re big soft light sources that don’t take up much room at all!
This again would be a great one if someone else had a vlog of a guy they see everyday walking back and forth talking to a stick. 😂👍🏼🙌🏼
Especially when he talks back and forth to himself in monochrome.
I really hope they fix the dynamic range with the R5 because DR on the R & RP are monumentally shit for a FF camera
The R6 looks more promising since it has larger pixels which leads to better low-light capabilities and dynamic range.
Like i know for a fact if you use ND the EOSR will like better BUT the xt4 gets you there without extra crap to carry. That dynamic range of Fuji is CRAZY GOOD.
you also gotta remember your Gerald Undone white balance cards when comparing colors lol
Dynamic range has nothing to do with sensor size--heard this before? Dynamic range is defined for a single photosite, i.e. a pixel and therefore is independent of sensor size. EOS R Your shirt was red, XT4 Had the slight orange effect....but both fantastic cameras and both hold up pretty good backlighten...
Fuji’s really starting to grow on me, Canon’s a close second. I wouldn’t get too attached to Olympus right now...
I'm sick of looking for a new camera, gonna cryogenically freeze myself until canon releases an ef-s mount mirrorless with a decent viewfinder, flippy screen, sharp 4k and decent ibis - see you in 3063!
Fuji needs to polish the AF and make some more video lenses. The X-T4 is so close to being "perfect"!
Awesome comparison !

Fuji is surprisingly better with exposure and dynamic range. About AF speed, did you check the option in Fuji? You can tweak it.
I can’t really see the advantages for full frame for your scenario tbh.
Micro seem to do the trick for you in the oly or maybe a light apsc.
I am still surprised that the canon colors looks like the Fuji velvia mode. But that “shirt isn’t red” is bs from Fuji.

From what I have seen right now, for your vlogging style:

3. Sony zv 1 or Panasonic.
If it’s stationary:
1. Sh1 or canon

I agree with the autofocus stagger test is the better way
Good that you have your own Fuji now it will grow more on you :p firmwares will bring some goodies probably.
The Fuji seems to have much better exposure, dynamic range and stabilization. Generally more pleasing to the eye. But the Cannon is doable and has better
color science...it does red right
Definitely an entertaining comparison video. I liked the Fuji better overall, but Canon is better on AF.
WINNER: FUJI XT4 ===> FATALITY!!
Also dynamic range is at it's maximum at specific ISOs.
640 on the xt4 will have the most dynamic range. Idk what the native iso on the canon is.
Fuji's ISO is almost a stop off from everyone else. ISO 1600 is ISO800 on other cameras. So it seems like fuji has a stop more dynamic range when it doesn't.
How did you fix the X-T4 orange to red color shirt ? in camera ? grading with premiere or resolve ?
Thanks for all your videos.
Resolve.
Which one would you recommend for me to get fuji xt4 or eos r
Stagger test was good. Faces were mint.
The EOS R isn't actually full-frame in 4k video. It's actually more cropped than the Fuji. The EOS R has a 1.74x crop, whereas the Fuji is 1.5x at 4k up to 30p 1.77x at 60p.
No Cripple Hammer, no road crossing, no squirrels, no “Loser”, no karate chop and no board meeting. Who are you? And what have you done with Kasey?
Have you thought about adding timestamps to your video descriptions so we can check out specific sections?
Work harder so people can watch less of my video? No, it hadn't occurred to me lol.
Please make a review of fuji 8-15 2.8
Are you at some point gonna test the canon 24mm 2.8 STM pancake lens? I am curious to see how that bad boy holds up in your testings. :-D
When the R6 comes out that's the lens I want to try.
this time they crippled the sky color. told ya, no canon camera is spared from the mighty cripple hammer.
Best looking studio footage yet :)
i honestly think the Canon looks sick!!
Maybe use a white sheet /tshirt as a light diffuser clipped to a c-stand
Can't wait for the Sony A5 with Tamron 20mm f2.8! Ideally on a gimbal :D
What happens if you adjust the focus sensitivity on the Fuji?
9:30 dynamic range comparison - is Fuji really that good?
Your song cured my cancer: 10:45
The focus tests around 11:00 were weird, the way the Fuji just blips things into focus like instantaneously. Weird as fuck. Yet amusing.
I'm going to buy my next SD card from Camera Canada just because
Canon has 1 stops of dynamic range, but it is just so convenient, and that speaks to me.
The lamp looks better (to my eyes) on the Fuji
Yes, staggering is the better way and I totally noticed you switched it up.
The EOS R is not worth it. It’s not better enough. I liked the Olympus and the little Sony best.
AF staggering approach - I wholeheartedly appreciate and approve.
Fuji Assasin's hair cut?
Using a Canon for a dynamic range comparison is probably not the best idea 😅
Canon C500 II shits on everything on the market when it comes to dynamic range in video.
