Have to smile at how easily they were able to set up the real Christmas tree. As a child of the 50s I remember my father cursing as he tried to get the
I must say that the videos from the 1920's are the ones that I love to watch, however when it's comes to putting in place the many things that we associate with Christmas the 1940s really embraces this the most.
It's not over until the beautiful lady says "that's all". Merry Christmas to all.
I bet they lived on a nice street too with all the homes decorated with outside Christmas lights. In the 80’s, my dad would take us on drives to see all the colorful lights. We lived in NJ so it was always so cold 🥶 and snowy out which made it perfect . ❄️🤍❄️🤍
Anyone else remember making "popcorn garland" at home the night the tree was decorated? Or how about cutting wide strips of different colored construction paper, wrapping them around and gluing them together for garland... that we used to do in school, usually during grade school art class. I haven’t thought about those things in years. Thanks for jarring my memories!
My parents era. I can almost hear Doris, Bing and Frank singing on the old 78s.
In my family it was pretty much like this still in the 70s.
How beautifully normal and simple life looks. I never imagined I'd envy the 1940s.
I’ve seen comments in other videos where people say they get sad when they hear the “that’s all” but this one really made my heart hurt. Since my parents haven’t been here, Christmas is different. But That’s how we used to do the tree…
A bucket with some rocks to brace the tree.
This is really pretty
I wish I could go back to those times even for one day!
Everyone back then looked so shiny and wholesome. I wonder what happened?
Family has a photo of my mum when she was aged about 11 or 12 and her hair looks exactly the same as the blonde girl with the ribbon decorating the tree, she was even wearing a dress with the same sleeves, only it was a pretty lemon colour. The year was 1946/47
Greatest generation even made the greatest Christmas tee!! Amazing.
Beautiful ❤

This is before my time, but not so much, so I recognize those decorations. Especially the tinsel. “Hang it one strand at a time, don’t throw it on in clumps!” my mother reminded us every year.
Merry early christmas !! 💖
Merry Christmas ! 🥰🎅🎄❄☃🍥🍭🍬🩰🎉🎀🎁💗✝💝
