Great job on the whole California trip you guys did an excellent job of bringing awareness and showing people what it really looks like out there and the efforts that have went into saving whatever they can
I believe the water fountain running out front is a tribute to the owner's brother that has past away. He was either a firefighter or veteran. That fountain runs 24/7 and it looks really cool in the winter. For those who are judging the way it looks there was a structure fire there that they have been cleaning up. It is very cute place and the video doesn't do it justice
Thanks JLR. You are doing a far better job than the local news. The station, Action News Now, is horrible. Their motto is news you can count on. I say news I can’t count on.
How do you know the lasers can't burn anything blue? It would be really hard to tell if something blue burned because it would be ash just the same as anything that was red, yellow, green, orange or any other color of the rainbow. And if lasers get everything not blue then how do you explain everything not blue that survives? Inquiring mind wants to know!

Ive been through that area . You are way up in altitude. And so close to Mt. Lassen volcanic park. Something worth seeing IF it won't be dangerous for you two. It is a quick- see. The smoke from that fire is making its way into the valley here. ( a common summer occurance over the last few years.) A very dull, grey day. But we do have over- cast. Sure hope we don't get the common lightening storms that happen in late summer. I'd like to thank the logging industry for maintaing the forests when I was younger. We rarely had these huge fires back in those days. Now... we have come to expect smoke filled summer days.

They need to pick up more sticks and maintain the lawn before a fire comes. There’s way too much brush. Fencing needs to go. Replace with metal. That grass is super high.
Up here in these parts, we rarely get a summer rain. I wish it would rain too but then there's the chance of lightening if it does rain..God help us all..
There's chances of thunderstorms today but that's also scary news because most of the lightning storms this time of the year are called dry lightning which means there's little to no rain involved in these storms which just create more fires if the lighting makes it to earth with no or little rain.
Besides the type of rain usually from thunderstorms that can have dry lightning and increase fire risk don't want much rain in the area until as much mop-up addressing areas the fire has left that could lead to landslides and ash and mud flows that increase flooding and other damage risks.
It’s so hot and dry in California. Their woods is such a different place then here in Utah. When a fire is spreading, there isn’t much to stop it. Especially for the wind coming up the Baja
You know my cousin survived the paradise fire in California. Suzanneville Now she’s up buy Chico and has been evacuated and made it too. You might wanna check on the redwood forest in Humboldt county. Check and see if our largest trees in America survived. We also have giant sequoias in central California too. Something to look into.
Area has experienced high winds, thunderstorms and weather effects from the fire itself, all of which can push needles and pinecones from the trees to the ground like crazy. Hard to tell how the owner typically keeps the property but seems as if he was doing what he should do by pushing everything away from the buildings when the video was done.
Ummmmm why are they Not WETTING it ALL down if they belive its headed that way🙄 No AIR HELP this is weird.... Get AHEAD of the FIRE if you DONT Want it ALL to Burn!
Wetting everything down now would be akin to a person watering their summer garden in the middle of winter when it is covered with three feet of snow. Makes no sense. Area is not in immediate threat of any flying embers or flames and any water used now would just quickly evaporate in the summer heat and be a waste. Air assets have been used massively and extensively on this fire, although may have been unable to see through smoke and grounded all of yesterday, but they work in direct proximity to the fire itself and wouldn't be dropping in this area that isn't on fire.
Arrest a guy for busting his butt to try and atleast save his home well i would look at that sheriff tell him at this point you are trespassing not me please leave or lets work together his choice.
I agree > that sheriff sounds like a bully. If you own your property you do not have to leave! We saved our home during a wildfire > first told it's mandatory, we had to leave, but we did not evacuate, and fought the fire ourselves! We did have all of our sacred stuff packed-up just in case it got overwhelming, but luckily and by the Grace of God we pulled through!
Segment starting at 9:45 - uh, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I'm 100% certain that this fire hasn't burned half the state of Rhode Island. It hasn't even come anywhere close to burning half the state of California. Fire Mountain Lodge is in an area that has been under an evac warning but can't find it ever being under mandatory evac although all evacs have changed quickly during the fire and routes to and from the area do still have mandatory evacs so it wouldn't be busy there. Sheriff may have threatened owner with arrest as a means of encouraging him to leave if put under mandatory evac but California is also a right to property state so it's very difficult for law to force you to leave or arrest you as long as you remain on your property. Don't advise staying through a mandatory evac but people should know their rights. Fire has slowed drastically in the past few days which can make quickly collecting content outdated and inaccurate. Fire has grown little for its overall size the past couple days, containment has increased, firefighters have had time to put in dozer lines and back-up dozer lines ahead of the fire to try to stop if it reaches that far but conditions today are one where the fire could remain a concern or largely be put to bed (will take a long time to fully extinguish). Hoping for put to bed.
That brush on the ground is pine needles. They cover the ground from Socal to Canada and other pine tree regions. You'll never clear up those and with the bark beetles the Sierras are going to have a hard time surviving...
Oh I have been to Minneral CA before. Dear Lord protect this area in Jesus name I pray, amen! 🙏🏻. Be careful JLR and Magnolia, it could get real serious. Do you and Magnolia have masks?

The cabins were vacant anyway, my guess. Look at the shambles of the grounds and the degraded signage throughout, it is the middle of Tourism Season and that place at Fire Mountain was not even operating as a viable business renting those cabins. I would like to have seen more of the grounds, like the store and trailer park.
Fire season starts every year April 1 - October 31st every year. Up in this area it’s very hot & dry several months out of the year. When the wet weather and/or storm conditions are in store; it comes with lightning. Lightning is devastating to the dry environment. Human lack of knowledge and/or carelessness also contributes to some of the problems. Example: not putting out camp fires completely, flicking out cigarette(s) and/or cigarette butts from moving vehicles and/or not disposing of them probably, not properly addressing chains/vehicles parts properly prior to being on the road, and much much more. These things have & continuously are addressed to the public year after year. Sadly folks simply don’t understand just how important it is to do their part. Not even if it has had an impact on them in some cases. Those that it has had impacts on….truly do know & unfortunately understand the consequences & even the deadly effects of these events. Even those of us who have tirelessly fought (boots on the ground) lost everything to include family/friends/coworkers throughout many of our years in WLFF.
