  • Handmade PASTA COOKING with ITALIAN GRANDMAS | Cooking with Nonna Nerina In Palombara Serina. ➡ Cooking on @Airbnb Experiences (Find a host for your next trip): abnb.co/grrrltraveler
Thanks to #AirbnbExperiences on @Airbnb, I met Nonna Nerina, a 83 year old Italian grandma who opens her kitchen to teach handmade pasta recipes to travelers. I thought I’d be learning pasta cooking Italian style from one Italian grandma, but upon arrival I discovered I’d be cooking with four Italian grandmothers! I learned how to make traditional handmade pasta without a machine - fettuccine, gnocchi, ravioli. I’m thrilled to be partnering with Cooking on AirbnbExperiences, who sent me to this Rome cooking class.
Cooking with Nonna Nerina has become such a popular cooking class for making fresh pasta by hand, that it is growing with more nonnas around Italy wanting to teach Italian style handmade pasta to travelers.
Location: Palombara Sabina, its a cute Italian medieval town located on a hilltop, about a 30 minute train ride from Rome, Italy

I would choose the Home-Cooked Flavours of Singapore. I have been wanting to travel there since seeing Crazy Rich Asians and I have heard that the food is amazing. Not only does this host teach Singaporean cooking, she also has vegan and vegetarian options! I also saw that she is a Passion Ambassador for Singapore, which I’m sure would make the experience even better!

I would pick Maize workshop by Enrique Olvera (sold out right now... :( but a girl can dream!). I watched him on Chef's Table on Netflix and was so inspired by his passion for Mexican cuisine and elevating a simple taco that I journeyed to Mexico City to eat at his restaurant and later to Oaxaca to taste mole myself! It would be wonderful to meet him in person and truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I love AirBnB experiences because they open up our eyes to the world and help us make connections with people from cooking with nonnas to learning from a world-class chef!

I want to go on the Cooking with 'Grannies of the Sea' Airbnb experience. So many of my favorite recipes are from my own grandmothers, so who better to learn from! Portugal is on my list of places to visit in the next couple of years and I adore fishing villages (something about the way they smell.) Combined with a lot of local interactions, this sounds like the perfect experience!

I'm in love with this!! I would absolutely choose cooking with Nonna!! First or all that pasta 🤤😋!!! Secondly Italy has a close place to my heart as my first wanderlust destination! I spent a lot of time dreaming about visiting Italy when I was younger even studying Italian for several semesters (although I haven't kept up with it so I can't really brag 😂) Anyway, I had the pleasure of visiting once when I was younger but have always wanted to go back as an adult! Your Italy series is really making me think it's time to book that trip! Also this little town is so charming, exactly the kind of place I want to retire! And those Nonna's are too sweet with so much knowledge and love to share - I think it would be a very heartwarming experience like your video! Thanks for sharing about these Airbnb experiences! My sister and I really only use Airbnb while traveling and it's so cool they now have built in excursions to compliment the experience!

I recently took a 23&me DNA test and found out I am a tiny bit Korean (5%) which explains my love of Korean BBQ! I would love to take the Cooking Korean Street Food at Home because a) my love of korean food and b) I love connecting with the people from the area. The food almost becomes a sidebar as you discover a new culture and share the love of cooking with a new friend. My second choice (I know it wasn't on the link) is to take an Airbnb experience cooking session in Toronto when we visit in April. There is a class called Learn, Cook, Eat-Indian Khaana that looks amazing.

Initially I didn’t even know that was a rolling pin, Fred! I was wondering what that stick was until Nonna started to roll it. Lol. The best part of your videos is you and your reactions.
Personally, I find the highly produced intros distracting and less valuable and I FF thru it. Maybe that’s what the Instagram generation wants but it doesn’t work for me.
Most of the travel content will not be novel so showing us your unique perspectives is what will be valuable to the content going forward. For example, cooking classes are not interesting to non foodies, but seeing the joy in the nonnas eyes as they prep the food and share the food with you is an experience I would take away.
