That Kishi Bashi song is what I play in the car every time I head back to Oahu and drive up to the North Shore. Gives me goose bumps.
December 2022, still watching this trailer, so simply, so inspiring.. It is difficult to explain the inspiration that this trailer provokes in me, unintentionally, it became the way I see surfing.

I live in AZ, and have always had a heart for beach and surf culture, I surf in the summers. All I want to do is live on an island, or by a beach, nothing else. Nothin else. That's all I wish. We go to Hawaii and Cali every summer and r going to an island in Africa too this summer. I just dream that I can surf all the time someday.....

I went to the premiere of this when it was released and every month since then, I will watch this movie to escape and reset. John and the team created a timeless masterpiece.

+Andrew Johnston - not sure if Brain Farm had it for this movie, but they managed to mount a Phantom 4K on a drone! Curt Morgan talks about how he had been wanting to mount a Phantom on a drone for five years. Pretty damn remarkable what that studio has grown into!

Literally don't know how many times I've watched this now! Soooo beautiful, reminds me of every feeling in surfing.
I love how the WSL argues he should surf safer in the "competition sense", but he continues to free surf and still place decently high. Once he figures out how to consistently get those 9's and 10's, regardless of the conditions and quality of surf, we might be looking at the next Kelly Slater (but more exciting).

i own the movie but still come back and watch this trailer sometimes because is so captivating, and not part of the movie. the movie is a gem--have watched it more times than i can say. a breathtaking work of art, both cinematically and john's surfing.

This movie is about a guy call John Florence who is rich and a chill guy, and how awesome his life is, which i could never have because of my life of forced study for 25 - 30 years, upon that growing bald at the age of 20
and immediately start work in the heat with no fan or ac, running through frustrating traffic everyday, and probably dying at the age of 50 unloved and forgotten, the way i think about this feels like a mockery to all the people with in my kind of life style. But i recommend all those who are reading this comment to watch this movie just for the beauty of the waves and John's insane surfing skills.
Sriram R you don't like where you are do something about it. Living life doing the things you love is better than spending the rest of your life doing things to make a living which is doing things you don't like doing. It's never too late to change...
Unfortunately it isn't really an option for most of the ppl in third world countries buddy. I am telling you this because i have experienced a part of what he has mentioned. But all i can do is wish that such guys have a great life ahead.

Well, Florence and his family were not rich at all at the beginning and before Florence's international success. They were poor in fact. Dedication and enthusiasm are not the key for everything - there are a lot of social limitations around for many and not everybody can reach some levels of quality - but a big part of the game of living the life you want depends on them. Don't complain for the life that other people are praying to have as well... Studying and working? Having food, a safe life and not passing through a war ? Oh, Jesus... How terrible.

can't stop watching it. sensory overload, it is so beautiful. and absolutely electric from about 2;27 on. he is an artist==so great that the makers of this film are doing him justice. he is the sergei polunin of surfers :) no one else out there even approaches his style--the organic way in which his body is part of the waves, in harmony with them. can't wait to see the whole video.

Wow, really? I thought it lacked inspiration and originality... sure, the images were nice, but nothing that I can't find on youtube in 5 seconds.. No story, no characters... how was this the best surf film ever? I don't get it.

So I got my pre-ordered copy in the mail and watched this STRAIGHT AWAY!!! (after watching this trailer +30 times) Now don't get me wrong at all, there are some absolutely stunning shots of surfing here, well above anything I have seen before. I was also looking forward to hearing some story in this too, which isn't in this film. Just wanted to let those interested in purchasing know, that if they are after a detailed story of John Florence's back story then you will be disappointed. If your after some of the most beautiful shots of surfing and the ocean then you will have the most amazing hour long visual experience ever!!!!!
