E' uno dei film di guerra più belli che abbia mai visto. Le volte che l ho visionato sono state infinite, il tutto accompagnato sempre da qualche lacrima. Amore fatto di sguardi e tanto ... tanto rispetto. L attore principale (Thomas Jouannet) è superbo nella sua interpretazione. Gli altri non sono di meno. Chapeau.

Возможно, что Вернер хотел предложить ей выйти за него замуж( как вариант) -но дедушка не дал им поговорить. The unspoken love is so strong , so beautiful , yet extremely sad . I met with this awesome movie purely by chance . And I've watched it six times already . From French version to English version to Chinese . I know nothing of French , but to my amazement , I could totally understand this movie . Now I'm convinced that love can be conveyed not only by what we say but by how we feel .
Love is ACTION, not only expressions on our face, but the actions that go with it, the tenderness the man & woman showed, yes, it was moving, but the writers could have written a more hopeful ending---him giving her his scarf, a tender kiss, a promise to see again, and NO transfer to the Soviet Union front which might have been a disaster. Perhaps she could have influenced his decision had she spoken sooner of her love, BUT she didn't. Furthermore, she should have explained what she saw and why she didn't tell him of the bomb, perhaps because she was afraid of repercussions from the French underground.

She should have warned him about the bomb. She caused the deaths of two human beings who were his friends. That is why he left, because he felt guilty that she warned him but not them. If the bomb had occurred somewhere else, she wouldn't have had anything to feel guilty about. He should have asked her WHY she saved him but not them. THAT IS WHAT BUGS ME. The silence, this much, is totally unrealistic, especially with an Officer and gentleman of his caliber who spoke fluent French.
Totally agree. He must be broken up at the loss of his friends, survivor’s guilty. It is also obvious, he is no longer safe to stay at Jeanne’s. This would also be a rift, a doubt regarding his feelings for her. I believe that is why he did not say anything to her after her adieu, and quietly got back in the car. Realizing the war withJeanne’s country is much more malignant than he realized, and she was not immune to it. Could he have lost desire to ever be with her again, is also now in question. He was definitely not in a good place mentally.
I have come to think Jeanne did not believe she could or should save Werner’s officer friends and orderly either due to allegiance to the resistance, or lack of clear thinking of how this would affect Werner. Werner will not be able to forgive her despite her saving his life. Ah, her decision to let this men die…..this just broke Werner. To think he will have to oversee the killing of 99 French hostages as the executive officer of the local Kammandantur, I don’t believe he would ever get over it. That is why he left.

disappointed at firsthand, but eventually I have been enthralled by it, as it
is so well directed.
However, in order to really understand Vercors's work, I would advise you to
read the book.
